It’s quite simple really.

Muslims are taught from the time they are children that it is the same god. It’s in the Quran.

Jews/Christians do not value the Quran in any way as Jewbacca has stated previously.
but Judaism values the Bible?

how can that be?

An intellectual/open minded Jew may value the Bible in some way… but does Judaism itself? No.

I should have worded my previous post a little differently.

so, if Judaism does not value the bible, but an enlightened Jew does, how can the enlightened Jew be following the precepts of his religion?

srsly, I am not trying to be argumentative, just curious.

It really depends who you ask - but let’s say a Jew is a historian. That Jew would probably value the Bible in a historical sense but not necessarily when it comes to his/her own belief system.

Again, probably bad wording on my part:) lol

Let me try again:

According to the Quran ,as I understand it, Muslims are worshiping the same God as both Christians and Jews. Like Jewbacca has stated, in the Quran, Allah (God) speaks of Jews and Christians corrupting ‘the book’. (Torah and Bible) If you want I can look up the story for you… but I believe it was mentioned in Al-Kahf (‘The cave’) at least once.

So according to Islam itself it is the same God being worshiped as in Christianity and Judaism.

But because Christianity includes the Old Testament (which I believe is not all but some of the Torah… how much I am not certain) in its belief system but it does not include anything mentioning Mohammed… Islam does not have that ‘familial’ significance to Christianity or Judaism… unless you are a Muslim or somebody who is able to look at it outside of their own belief system.

Mohandas Gandhi
Interestingly, I like the Gandhi that is the public relations Ghandi.

The actual real-life Ghandi who sought to ally with Nazi Germany and encouraged the extermination of my people, however, was not a prize.

+++++

Regarding Christians, I like serious Christians who know their Bible, as written, and not as read through the lens of some of the nastier historical theologies.

There are obvious theological differences, but the evangelical Christians are great friends to my people and their love of G-d and desire to obey Him is very real and wonderful.

Indeed, some of the best people I’ve met.
So why is it that you don’t believe that Jesus is the Messiah? And if it’s not him, then who?

Serious question.

It’s too bad you’re bullshitting. This would be an interesting conversation.

I think that reading the bible and interpreting it word for word is not a very smart idea.

I HIGHLY doubt that the original readings are the same as what you would read today, every person that has translated/re-written it has without a doubt added their own “flavour”. The bible should be used as a backbone of wisdom not a word for word “recipe” to guide you. There is a lot of things you can learn just by focusing on how a specific reading can be applicable/not applicable to make you a better person overall.

Funny thing how that Ghandi is so…so…so unknown. Those who quote him might want to study a little more about the man before they readily use his convenient “eloquence.”
Well, they’re shallow thinkers. If it doesn’t fit on a bumpersticker, it’s too complicated.

Maybe they could try this quote, from one of Ghandi’s many letters to his self-described “greatest friend” Adolph Hitler:

“We have no doubt about your bravery or devotion to your fatherland, nor do we believe that you are the monster described by your opponents [the Jewish people].”

Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi of India to Adolph Hitler of Germany
It is my understanding he was trying to persuade Hilter to not go to war, not in exterminating the Jews. This quote is from 1939 long before the known atrocities of the death camps, in this case context is everything. He was most likely naive but hardly promoting the killing of anyone. As far as calling him “my friend”, he wished for all of mankind to be his “friend”.

An interesting read http://koenraadelst.bharatvani.org/articles/fascism/gandhihitler.html

I don’t think there’s a person on this planet with the stones to give themselves over to ‘the beast’ and truly believe they’ve traded something. To believe in God is to believe in the Devil and vice versa.

Ghandi was a farce. Study, folks, study. Don’t get your history lessons from Hollywood.
But…but…movies are so accurate!!! And take a lot less time to absorb then an actual history book or encyclopedia…to quote the marlboroman, I got shit to do.

Since so much of my work has been outsourced to India, i’ve had the opportunity to learn just how much they genuinely hated Ghandi.

The only real truth…

pfft, haha.

Sorry, couldn’t resist.

The stones, nor the brains… I hope.

I think it would be interesting to talk about Satanism and Anton LaVey. But I doubt it would go over well, given the subject matter.

In all honesty, I’m surprised that this hasn’t devolved into complete shit.

What are you trying to say here?Of course you can believe in the higher power-God/Creator/Universal consciousness etc. without believing in “the Devil”.

I find it hard to think a being with the knowledge and power to create at least one universe(who knows maybe there is many more) so vast and intricately engineered would allow another being like the Christian Devil to exist.
