Jewbacca, I was thinking about how King’s in Western Europe claimed devine standing as why they were king. Understandable that there might have arisen different versions of the Christian Bible.
How did/does power or rank work historically in Jewish communities? I am thinking about your comment about keeping to, thus not altering, important religious texts.

Hell no. No one under the age of 25-30 goes to church in Ireland. A tiny % of that age group are any way religious.
Found out about the tooth fairy, santa & the easter bunny when I was around 6. Stopped the Religion/god stuff when I was around 13/14.
Do people start going around a certain age, or do you suspect those numbers will be moved up to 30-35 in 5 years?
Religion is really just dying out rapidly in Ireland TBH. The older generation of around 60-70 years+ still go to church and are reasonably religious but it’s rare to find someone young who is any way into religion. Kids generally stop going to church whenever their parents stop making them go, which is around 12-14 years old.
Yes, I would definately think that the number of people attending church in Ireland will drop in the next 5 years.

the Christian religion was forced upon them during the 1st - 5th centuries anyway. Started with the Romans, once converting to Catholicism, started to spread to the Isles. Then there was domination by the church, which held the validity of a god-sanctioned king based on bloodlines, and the subsequent wars that have ensued, all having a start in religious fervor.
prior to that, a king was a the strongest local warlord.
Religion trashed the British Island landscape, maybe once that religion has faded, the old gods will re-appear.

…but do you think that it is interesting that, once dissected, all religions seem to have the same foundation? in that:
there is a creator
there are lessons to help understand behavior and environment
there are heros and dregs, and both are described for lessons on growing
there is consequences to our actions on earth, and a final authority.

Yes, it is the Jewish belief that all people were given the same religion in the begining, and hence the similarities. The “Laws of Noah” (so said becaue G-d gave them to Noah) are very similar to these form the core of all religions (even false ones) that is what we innately recognize as correct.
There laws are:
1.Prohibition of Idolatry
2.Prohibition of Murder
3.Prohibition of Theft
4.Prohibition of Sexual immorality
5.Prohibition of Blasphemy
6.Prohibition of eating flesh taken from an animal while it is still alive
7.Establishment of courts of law
Well, I’m sitting in Houston today. My wife has a job at the medical centre. I’m looking at a big cheesy mega church out my window. And I am still Jewish.
If I was born in Saudi Arabia, I suppose I would be dead, as they would kill me.

So you are in my town? How long?
Through Shabbos and then Sunday I fly back to NYC.
I will be going to the Chabad Lubavitch service tonight and tomorrow, I assume. I am not sure where it is, but truly interested guests are welcome.
My wife is teaching Houston surgeons how to rebuild the labia/cliterous on females that had them removed due to female “circumcision” so they can enjoy intercourse. Had 6 surgeries today, like 4 Sunday.
I used the opportunity to scare the hell out of our Houston office by coming to visit unexpectedly. 200+ lawyers convinced I am going to merge them. Have to keep them on their toes.

There will be no Irishmen to drink with in heaven? How boring!

I will be happy to assist in test driving your wife’s clients’ work for them. Just give me the word. I’m very near the med center.
Also, what are your thoughts on the legitimacy of contacting “the other side” through means outside of the “law”?
Not so much the moral aspect of it, or the gay tarot scams and such but the possibility of alternate contact, given topics such as divination, “magic” et cetera were mentioned and banned by the law.
And, why not do it if you can manipulate your contact to your own liking? What makes the rules of operation so uniquely correct?
I like the Bible in the same way that I like “The Golden Ass”. Beyond that, I don’t think any religion has it figured out and that people believe in higher forces because they’re ultimately scared of the unknown. Definitely not a Church-goer here.

The evidence isn’t on my side, but our collective ancestors thought they were
