My SHBG was 40 before and now has dropped to about 30.
When I was in the 400s I felt horrendous, as well as when I tried 100mg a week for a while. Going back up to 150 got me feeling a lot better. Hard to describe, but I’ve slowly been feeling better and better but the negatives have been increasing parallel to it.
I will stress that the negatives did seem present prior to TRT but much less obviously.
Update with your thyroid results. Would like to see why your TSH is what it is. If you can try getting adrenals checked as well. If you’re super lucky try and get a Dutch test
Id go with more magnesium. If the glycinate give you insomnia take it in the morning. Or up your citrate. When I was having anxiety and negative ruminating physio put me to 600mg and it fixed it. He said some guys go as high as 1200.
I wish glycinate and I were a better match. I just don’t seem to sleep as well and the next day I’m jittery as fuck. Oddly makes me really productive but isn’t very comfortable.
Also I’ve been reading that magnesium deficiency will cause a drop in thyroid hormones and thus increase TSH.
My TRT was derailed do to an iron deficiency. I started TRT in the beginning of 2017 and found daily dosing to provide excellent results by the end of 2018 at which point I discovered I was severely iron deficient the entire time and have stopped TRT for awhile until I figure things out.
Treating the iron deficiency is providing challenging, but have had erections and a libido for four months off TRT with 97-119 ng/dL, FT 3.15 ng/dL and learning I don’t need very much TT and FT levels to function normally which my previous 7mg (49mg weekly) daily protocol backs up.
Funny how magnesium can work like that. I experienced the same thing. As a matter of fact when I went on vacation with my wife and kids over the summer I forgot to bring my magnesium and thought nothing of it. I was biting heads off and miserable 3 days in. Finally one day I figured it out and bought some citrate at a pharmacy (all they had). I was better within hours. Back to normal the next day.
