Anti-Candida Diet

So, I’ve been diagnosed with having an overgrowth of Candida Albicans. his is the unhealthy bacteria in your stomach that everyone has and due to whatever circumstances outdoes the good bacteria causing a host of issues.

Eating in a way to not “feed the yeast,” which makes up candida is a HUGE pain in the ass. I CAN"T eat ANY sugar, even in fruits or anything much high in carbs(primarily bakers yeast and brewers yeast)- even healthy ones. It’s pretty much meat, fish, eggs, and veggies.

Anyone have any recommendations as how I could eat, to gain weight, especially post workout where I need quick acting carbs. I use surge, but thats full of sugar and i’m sure it have some sort of yeast product in it. Man I’m so frusterated

There is no yeast in these products.

It might be the case that you would do best, because of your condition, to not use the products because of the glucose content.

It isn’t the case that postworkout carbs are necessary to make gains.

The Anaconda product contains no carbs (and no yeast.) Ditto for MAG-10.

I wish I could give you further advice but I have no expertise regarding dealing with Candida.

If I might ask, how was this diagnosed? By an MD or DO? If by someone else I would seek a second opinion, as this particular diagnosis is an area known for quackery. And if the person giving the diagnosis told you that Candida is a type of bacteria, the person really did not know what he or she was talking about and this would be even greater reason to seek more qualified diagnosis.

the MD I saw didn’t say “bacteria”, I just said that because I saw that online. I did have a blood test done by him that did identify I have an overgrowth of it.

What’s the “quackery” you’re talking about? I supplement with Metabolic Drive pre-workout and Surge post workout. I am pretty sure what to eat with whole foods, but supplements kind of confusing as I really don’t if some of the things in them will make my condition worse or better.

Don’t feel so sad for yourself, that’s pretty much the staple diet of any serious bodybuilder. I haven’t been diagnosed with such a disorder, but eat within the guidelines of having one.

With those four food types that you mentioned you can do plenty, just start browsing this site, Shugart’s Hammer is a good place to start. Also, are you allowed to eat any grains that do not contain gluten?

The quackery I am talking about is from non-MD’s who “diagnose” Candida without any actual medical test. I wanted to be sure that hadn’t happened to you, as if it had, you might be going to a lot of trouble for nothing.

(Though on the other it would be better news if it were nothing.)

As for supplements, it’s simple: The problem is not consuming yeast, it is consuming foods which may be more highly preferred by yeast. Apparently this includes sugars, and quite likely – but I’m not sure – most carb sources added to supplements.

So just look for the carb content of the supplement.

As Bill partially touch on, Anaconda and MAG-10 still fit within the restrictions you’ve mentioned since they are both free of carbohydrates.

Add Alpha-GPC and you have a solid peri-workout nutrition plan.

I’m not a gastroenterologist, but I’ve never heard of someone having candida overgrowth in the stomach. Usually happens in the mouth or esophagus, and even then doesn’t usually happen unless they are immunosuppressed (HIV, organ transplant, chemo… I suppose very poorly controlled diabetes).

Is the Paleo Diet within your guidelines? It basically consists of meat, vegetables, fruit, and nuts. That’s what I eat on a daily basis, and it has been extremely helpful in leaning out, eating healthier, and feeling much more energized.

No maple syrup or back bacon or poutine.

Oh wait, that’s an anti-Canada diet.
