Another Reason to Hate Planet Fitness

I do not understand the hate for Planet Fitness. It’s a gym that doesn’t have what I want, so I don’t go there. This is similar to why I don’t hate Weight Watchers. It’s a program many have had success with, but it’s not for me. So why would I hate it?

Not everyone wants or needs squat racks, free weight benches. And certainly most of the world doesn’t give a rat’s ass about building muscle. There’s nothing wrong with this.
Before X point in time of said squat rack removal, Y number of people signed up to PF to workout, and included in their workouts were exercises, like squats, that required a squat rack. Now after X point in time those Y number of people can’t do the workouts they wanted. Why? This is going beyond hate of their business model - they (Planet Fitness) are neglecting paying clienteles needs.

Unless this removal was justified by some sort of member survey/poll then it is wrong Brick!

I wasn’t thinking of what you said. That makes sense.

However, I still don’t empathize with the hate for Planet Fitness (and Crossfit).

This sums it up perfectly, especially the part about month to month membership meaning that they owe you nothing.

I have absolutely no problem with people from Greenland (Greenlandish, the Greenlandese?), However if they began stereotyping all of Californians as communist homosexual Charger fans, I may take some issue.

PF are a bunch of hateful exercisists.

The great peoples republic of california has of plenty of 49 and raider fans as well.

I will say though that some people may have no choice but use their establishment. Not every city has a true gym. Its a good business model for certain areas, but could be limiting in others.
There is always a choice, just not necessarily a convienient one.

I trained in my garage in -30 degree temps because I preferred it over using the gym. I know folks that set up a set of squat stands in their apartment and then take them down whenever they are done. Other folks drive great distances to train.

I guess I don’t equate the presence of a Planet Fitness to equal the absence of a quality training place. I would say the absence of said place is more an indication of a lack of demand.
For myself I have done the same. However not everyone is financially able to do a home garage.

Plus isnt PF a franchise? So they are all not equal in a sense.
I just want to know where the hell you guys live where it is regularly -30? Texas? California?

Hell Michigan is a pretty cold state and we never see -30.

I think the real question here should be, what is pf doing with all those squat racks and how can I get one?

Hahaha, I was thinking this same thing. Shouldn’t there be a big warehouse full of purple squat racks at liquidation prices somewhere?

I don’t know if hate is the right word, but Planet Fitness and probably everyone who goes there does in some way disgust me. It’s a place where people are committed to basically remaining skinny-fat and weak and where man-children are intimidated by inanimate objects. How far they have fallen from times when men braved all the harshness of nature. Their viking ancestors weep with shame, and it disgusts me to look upon their piteous countenance.

Everyone needs a place to workout. And not everyone wants to workout for physique goals, rather, perhaps just being generally healthy?

I certainly don’t have a problem with that, but the whole “lunk alarm” and reverse discrimination is what gets me.

I was living in very northern North Dakota at the time. It recently experienced -72 with windchill.

Fuck you Testy I was in Texas and it was 25 degrees in my garage.

That is cold for us down south.

Wrong. No contracts at Planet Fitness. Let’s say they removed the squat racks on the second day of the month, right after you paid your dues for the month. The most you’re going to be out is 10 dollars for the month, and you can move on to another gym. Hulse’s video is spot on. If they want to get rid of the squat racks, so be it. They don’t owe you anything because you don’t owe them anything.

It would be different if you had signed a contract with the reasonable expectation that the gym would have squat racks forever and ever. Given Planet Fitness’s history, this would not have been a reasonable expectation, even if they did have contracts.

Speaking of contracts at gyms, people seem to forget that the contract presented to you when you go to sign up doesn’t have to be the contract you actually sign. At my current chain gym, the contract was amended to allow me to use chalk as long as I was a member (chalk is generally not allowed at this gym, although the rule is not strict). If you want to have a squat rack guaranteed, make sure it gets written into the contract.

Summary: if PF doesn’t meet your needs, don’t be part of their ‘paying clientele’. They make this easier than any other gym out there.

BAM. May the weak effeminate she-men of the Planet of Fitness be stricken down by mighty Mjolnir.

Lol, no I was in a garage with no heat. Damn bars are cold in the morning.

It all feels the same after about -25. It’s just f-ing cold, your body can’t register it as anything else.

I could always tell just how cold it was by how filthy of a word my sweet wife would use when she got out of the car. The weather could make a nun swear like a sailor.

That’s the worst part of a garage gym. I wear the mechanics gloves when grip isn’t an issue.
