Because for my training experience and as a female, anything faster would mean I would put on primarily fat (which turned out to be the case)
I also couldn’t get myself to train as hard as I needed to to maximise muscle building.

This is most likely why I thought I missed this phase of your training.
Limiting fat gain is one of those things I mentioned when I said, to the outside observer, you’re not doing the things in the recovery phase that one tends to do when they need to recover.
I would say this would be a result of the above.
I am one of your biggest fans. I really want you to succeed.
Like Pwn,
But, @anna_5588, you will take a big, big step forward in life only when you realize learn this statement:
is simply not true.

So…… I have decided to get a coach starting next week. It’s a 6 month package that includes nutrition and lifestyle stuff
The investment is quite big but my cohortmates spend much more than what I’ll be spending on coaching for things like clothing, shoes, eating out and travel so it’s not completely financially irresponsible
I think it’s a great idea, and you’re right, others spend also.
I will never apologize for my willingness to drop more than $2K on a treadmill on the very day mine becomes unusable. I don’t apologize for buying a Concept2 or expensive food. I don’t even care that others spend more in various ways!
Happily, I can afford to take good care of myself. So can you - enjoy!

Good mornings: 3x7-115lbs w/3sec pause at bottom

Update: school stuff
Yes, and pretty typical, I think, though perhaps it varies by field.
As I recall, I didn’t work on a publishable topic until close to my second year, and then only as a co-author to another grad student.
Either way, your advisor says not to worry, so… Don’t worry.

Aren’t you a first-year PhD student?
Behavioural science is one of those areas with a very low barrier to entry so we get started on projects with a prof or two in the department pretty much the day we decide on a programme if there aren’t projects being grandfathered in.
yep
Week 14: Day 4
50min cardiokickboxing and core workout video
20min on eliptical
Week 14: Day 5
Deadlift: 3x5-255lbs
snatch grip DL: 3x4-175lbs, planned another set but pushed 4th finger on left hand too hard and it started to tighten up and swell slightly so quit
feet up bench: 3x10-85lbs
Leg extensions: 1x20-60lbs, 1x16-65lbs, 1x12-70lbs, 1x8-85lbs, 1x4-100lbs, 1min rests btw sets
Abductor machine: 4x10-105lbs, 1min rests
This happens to me when I either have too little sleep or too little nutrition.
To add onto this, if I have even the smallest of injury, I cannot get my body to fire on a deadlift. The deadlift basically works the “everything”, and a single break in chain will cause the whole thing to fail.
You’re an overzealous first-year student. You’re not supposed to have a strong sense of direction at this point.
As you probably know, most research is not earth-shattering. PhD-holders are valued far more for their ability to endure tediousness and hardships. You have such a long time to figure out which more or less trivial problem will haunt you for years.

You’re right.
My (former) CC who’s a theorist described his work as cultivating a bonsai tree- beautiful and takes immense effort, but will only be admired by a few in the grand scheme of things

@TrainForPain you mentioned school induced nightmares in Dani’s log. Mine have returned… Last night, I was locked in a room “Saw” style and progressively larger spiders were released into the room for every extra minute it took to derive some statistics results. I could feel the spiders!!!
@EmilyQ I don’t want to derail the Bedroom thread so I’ll ask here. You mentioned that your oldest resented having to share a bathroom with his siblings. Did/does he display a strong need for having his own “safe space” or sense of ownership over his belongings? What made you not okay with his dislike of sharing a bathroom?
I find that I am this way and cannot stand sharing a room with anyone because I needed “my” space. I also imagine having to share a bathroom with siblings who might try to mess with him.
