Are you funding this dinner or is it on someone else’s dime? If someone else is paying for it, I would ask that person or entity if that would be acceptable. While it is very thoughtful of you to want to pay for your friends transportation, if this isn’t your money to spend in any capacity other than a dinner. It would be unethical to do so, in my opinion. Also, if you did give the money to your friends for transportation without first checking and it got back to the individual(s) funding the dinner, it may upset them and not end particularly well for you. I
On the other hand, if the money is coming from your bank account - then you are free to spend it in any way you would like and then, by all means, offer to pay for their transportation.

That’s what I, as a slightly older American, would do. :slightly_smiling_face:

Yes, though I’ve never heard of someone even thinking of this or expecting it. I will have about 50 people over my home in two weeks for my children’s summer birthdays. We will prepare and order all foods and goodie bags and decorations for everyone’s entertainment. Not one guest is getting money for gas.

I listened to half so far. Their attitudes are outrageous, I believe. With their logic, I don’t think any of them should even have children or marriages. They likely don’t, and they shouldn’t.

And for all their good-faith arguments, what’s obvious is they completely ignore the detrimental effects of what they propose. So far they haven’t said, “Ending this gap sounds good. But the actions necessary for it can pose serious societal problems. What are they?”

I’ll likely finish it today.

Thanks for the tag, @anna_5588—though I resent your adjectives: I am wildly successful and I am in no way older, haha.

FWIW, I think @QuadQueen’s views capture mine pretty well, and I also agree with @BrickHead in that:

I think they are arguing for compensation of household production which I’m skeptical of. I do agree that household production is an important part of the economy and its “hidden” nature prevents acknowledgement. I just don’t think direct compensation is necessarily a good idea
What is popular among higher income households is hiring an au pair to do housework . I’m surprised they did not address this.

Most of the hosts are married and I think one of them has kids

Don’t bother listening to the second half, they move onto different topics

By who? And who cares it’s hidden? I just spent 2.5 hours on and off cooking and cleaning my kitchen and dishes. Why should people care I did this, or yard work, or playing with and educating my children?

Continued: it would be nice if I got a thank you for this from my family members, but if they or anyone else doesn’t give one, I seriously don’t care. It’s my home and I must care for my kids whether I’m thanked or not.

Week 1: day 4
Do hard shite for an hour or so to avoid working upper body

KBS: 1x12,13,14,15,16,17,18,19, all sets w/32kg kb

Abductor machine: 4x20-75lbs, 1min rests

  • glute, jammies and core were PISSED from RDLs yesterday so decided that heavy kbs would be a good idea :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: actually felt better than expected and made it through, was trashed after kbs so cut accessories short

As an older American (I just turned 50), I pretty much agree with everything @QuadQueen says. She hits all the important considerations.

Hiring a coach is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I’ve grown significantly not just in terms of my fitness goals, but have seen spillover into the rest of my life. If it doesn’t work out with this person, happy to recommend mine, who is a really solid technician, all around great guy, and an eating disorder survivor(he’s public about this) which would be really helpful in dealing with any food issues. Best of luck!
