This is the one I ordered
Week 5: day 6 (yesterday)
55min weighted walk-25lbs in pack
- took it easy, felt good
gym closed today, flying out to LA tomorrow. I’m basically going to take this week off and starting back next week. Oh yeah, flying out to San Diego next weekend…… I hate travel….
Given the deload and somewhat of a tape next week, I’m going to try to stick to a strict deficit (1400). Yesterday went pretty well as a “test run”
Re: off floor, do you guys think paused deadlifts are worth it?
Okay, apparently they changed the sizing of the belts bc I tried on the new belt and it is a bit too loose without significant bloat
Not a big deal, just miss my old belt
Yes, I think they are worth doing. They’re especially good at helping with getting positioning dialed in. You don’t even necessarily have to exclusively do one or the other. In fact, my coach does them as warmup and then just pulls conventional for working sets, whereas he actually programs them in for me.
For me, the best cue off the floor is thinking push as in push the floor away with your feet.
I’ve owned that brand’s lever belt for over a year now, can definitely vouch for the quality. Hopefully you enjoy yours.
Yeah, quality is amazing and doubly amazing given the price. This latest version seems to be even better given that the ends are reinforced. Idk how they manage to do it
I had been using my last one for 4 years and it was still going strong. The bag it came in, on the other hand, wasn’t going to last another week lol
I personally, rarely, ever do paused Deadlifting. I just never thought it really helped for me, maybe I never did it for long enough since I would only train them for a few weeks and then fall off. But one thing that doesn’t work for someone can work for another. I just never really saw much improvement with bar speed off the floor.
Hi @anna_5588 . Good to see you again

Update: visit day was a complete success. Sorry @T3hPwnisher UCSD probably cannot beat this programme…. The profs and grad students were beyond accommodating/nice. The entire day ran smooth as butter and I really want to work with everyone I met. Also, they are so interdisciplinary. I’ll get to do everything I want
On the nutrition front…… bye bye deficit…. Did well breakfast and lunch, but pigged out at dinner. Min 2000 kcal worth of cheese, procuitto, fruit and bunless sliders…. Oops…… 3.2k calories for the day lol

Hi. I scanned your log a bit. Amazing persistence and hard work both in training and your education. You should be extremely proud and (at least somewhat) happy at what you have and will accomplish. Cheers. Keep going.
Thank you!

4min of (2db clean+3front rack squat+ press)/side-30 lb db

Push-ups: 5x5, 5x6-30lbs in pack,EMOM
Bike-10min easy
10min walk swinging around 3lb dumbbells

press: 1x5-25,30,35, 2x3, 2x2-40
conditioning: 10 min incline walk, 15% incline, 2.9-3.1Mph really pushed it
- not a lot of work but holy crap those squats were really nice, definitely had more in the tank on the top set. Looks like hitting 100 for a double next week might be in the cards, press and good mornings went well, incline walk was also a lot easier than expected
Update: something about getting crushed under heavy weights just makes me HUNGRY. I didn’t do much volume, but could not stop eating stuff all morning
I’m off to San Diego for another visit day Thursday - Saturday. Will not impact workouts, but the redeye back really sucks.
Also, two big academic wins
- one of my econ maths friends who’s in my analysis class (he’s actually taking it) asked ME to compare answers with him. This is the first time someone has more or less treated me as an equal in maths
- I reached out to one of the profs who I plan on working with in grad school and she was beyond excited that I committed and about my idea.
Week 4: day 3 (yesterday)

Good mornings: 3x12-40kg, control tempo
