Anna's Training Log Part 2 (Part 1)

Absolutely, definitely in the “struggling” bucket here

For sure. And just because you’re on one side today doesn’t mean you won’t be on the other tomorrow. At least for me I am definitely captain rollercoaster.

Anyone saying this is most likely not achieving anything significant.

Training is the easy part. It’s 60-120 minutes a day. Living makes up the rest of it. It’s the stuff we do for 22 hours a day that defines how we are: not the stuff we do for 2.

My schedule is going to be packed.
I’ll need to reduce my step count considerably, probably from 27-30k per day down to ~20k

Would a 100calorie reduction in food be enough to compensate for this drop in activity?

Is your goal still max strength, or has it shifted toward reducing bodyfat set point?

This for now.

Too stressed with school work to put the requisite effort needed to max strength

Yesterday’s Work

Front squat: 1x12-135lbs, 3x6-135lbs, superset with 5 hardstyle KBS-45lb kb
Good mornings: 3x8-115lbs, superset with 20 alt lunges
kb RDL: 3x(5/side+4/side+3/side)-45lb kb

  • so happy with front squat, got bad headache/ear pressure so took the rest of the workout easy

Flying out to Boston today!!!

With my headaches, I never experienced ear pressure or ringing. Mine started in the back of my neck or traps and then spread into the back of my head. Even when they are at peak pain my ears didn’t ring. Have you tried “clearing” your ears? Swallowing, plugging nose then blowing gently, etc? Does that help?

It (thankfully) went away the next day, but yeah, the “clearing” techniques didn’t help.

ohh, this happens to me after long weighted walks or too much upper back work

Glad it eventually went away. I was hoping clearing would be a simple fix, but without an actual pressure change, I guess it’s not that easy!

Interesting. Mine was with high-rep squats, but, the bar resting on my traps would be a similar pressure as either of these causes for you. We might be experiencing the same thing in this case. I have been able to manage mine by going back to low-reps. The human body is amazingly tough and sensitive at the same time.

I’m so with you on this!
I admire the mental fortitude and physical ability needed to do high rep squats, but they are definitely not for me

  • I thought I’d get started on the 5/3/1 programme but we might not get the athletic pass until next week. Good news is that I’ll have access to TWO gyms with full equipment, one of which is open at 6 on weekdays. This research programme is beyond awesome.

In other news, I HAVE to shoutout my boss and friend from the physics discord. Boss is picking me up from the airport and discord friend is collecting me when I get there to show me around and help with checkin. I was supposed to fly in yesterday but cancelled so I now fly in today.

Also just penned in my schedule. Holy crap it’s packed. Will have to cut back on the outings or there’s no way I’ll be able to get done what I need to

Out of curiosity how is your glute area? (Yes it sounds creepy to me too and no not asking for pics ).
I’m wondering if you possibly have ‘disproportionate’ fat distribution ?

Also you say fluffy, I say “Fluff that, you are looking strong”

I second this one. Legs look like nothing but muscle.

Lots of fat there. I tend to store fat in my inner thighs and glutes

These comments will always be alarming.

I am thrilled to hear you were happy with the complexxes. They’re a great approach.
