Squat: 1x5-40,50,60; 1x5-70,75, 1x6-80; 5x10-60
DB rows: 5x10/side-25lbs
Good mornings: 3x(10-40kg+10 lying leg raises)
Lunges: 3x8/side-50
Conditioning: 50 DB devils presses-20lb Dbs, 10 alt lunges EMOM
these felt a lot heavier than expected, legs just felt weak- not sure if it’s the early morning or not squatting for so long, the 5x10 was actually quite hard on low back, everything else felt good, LOVED the conditioning- one of those workouts where it felt hard but I kind of forgot to quit
I didn’t see if this was addressed? FWIW, I tried BBB with an iso-caloric diet and regressed. @anna_5588 these are words of @SvenG that you want to heed.
If you do not want to gain bodyweight right now you might want to do something else in the weight room than BBB.
I don’t actually think I’m eating an iso caloric though. On paper I try to but chances are that I’m sneaking in little thing here and there that add up.
Bench: 1x5-25,30,35; 1x5-40,45,50; 5x10-40kg
Db rows: 12x10/side-25lbs
Close grip bench: 3x8-40
Cable row: 4x6-70lbs
took things slow and easy, not feeling great, the bench is fixed so that messed things up a bit- heavier than expected and couldn’t get set up properly
Got 30extra min of sleep last night. 10000% worth it
Jump: 3x5
Deadlift: 1x5-60,70,80; 1x5-90,95,100; 5x10-70kg
Db rows: 5x10/side-25lbs
snatch grip DL: 3x5-60kg
Good mornings: 3x(12-40kg+10 lying leg raises)
Conditioning: 4x(40sec DB manmakers-20lb Dbs+20sec rest)
felt pretty crap going in but deadlifts moved quite smoothly- not bad for stiff bar, took things easy and didn’t push it as much as I probably should have…
Week 1: Day 5
3x(2min bike+3 kickboxing combos (10 reps/side))
4x(20 face pulls+20tricep pushdowns)-20lbs
not too sore but really tired, got my arse in the gym to do this, felt a lot better afterwards, will do something more substantial tomorrow.
The plan was to do a “12 days of Christmas “ workout with db man makers, db snatch/side and lying leg raises (1 manmaker, 2 snatches/side +1 manmaker, 3lying leg raises+…). Realized quickly that it wasn’t going to happen so I went up to the round starting with 6 lying leg raises. I then upped the weights by 5 lbs and repeated the above
First round of this was with 25lb dbs for the man makers and 35lb db for the snatches, second round was manmakers with 30lb dbs and snatches with a 40lb db.
very solid workout, felt good and surprisingly hard to get through reps, consequently not as bad on cardio
Updates (too lazy yesterday)
I am starting the application for the NSF GRF (due next October). It’s been quite insightful
I look quite impressive on paper. I haven’t published anything but I had quite a bit to write about in the “intellectual merit” section
I don’t fit in. I want to do Econ, but also psych stuff (marketing and food choice) and want to start maths and CS stuff too… along the same lines, I’m not focused enough. I only became interested in ethics stuff and Econ modeling last year. My prior experience and my senior thesis has no Econ stuff. I also don’t know where the face research fits in. I really like the project and put the most effort into it, but it’s not something I want to pursue in grad school (for now). Even for applications, I think I might end up writing two sets of applications- one focused on my interest in consumer choice, the other focused on Econ stuff
I’m reading previously successful applications and I’m getting dejavu from HS. In the “broader impact” section, all of them talk about TA, volunteer work… I have not done any of that i confess that the process of coming up with a semi bs reason why my research could change the world is quite fun. Actually, it’d make for a VERY interesting study topic
Other stuff
I still have not found a suitable replacement for my friend. I really want one, especially since I’m writing applications and stuff. Last winter, we sent a bunch of papers to each other and it was very fun. I miss that. I have a person from maths group who I am helping with his tutoring business and we talk a lot about apps (he has a PhD in astrophysics from MIT), maths and stuff but it’s not the same. Lesson learned: diversify options to avoid becoming dependent
pretty decent, press felt good and worked shoulders, BTN press also worked triceps pretty decent
Week 2: Day 2
Squat: 1x5-40,50,60; 1x3-75,80, 1x4-85; 5x10-60
DB rows: 5x10/side-25lb Db
lying leg raises: 3x10
Good mornings: 6x(10-40kg+20 plank hip dips)
Conditioning: 1-7 of DB manmakers -20lb Dbs w/ 3x the number of reps of air squats btw sets
felt pretty good but still heavier than expected. I think I’m just not used to waking up early. I’m feeling weaker @hustlinghat93 my back seems to be the limiting factor for the 5x10.
Good mornings felt good
