@T3hPwnisher i get why you do good mornings when deadlifts aren’t on the table now…
It took me an hour to get through 8sets of 5 at only 50kg and my entire back, core and hamstrings are lit up…
I did 10x5 at 100kg on deadlifts not too long ago and don’t remember struggling this hard to complete reps
It’s weird bc I don’t feel like I worked that hard (out of breath, tired, lightheaded or tinnitus) like when I do heavy squats or deadlifts, but my muscles are done
I honestly go for them because the mechanics should be identical to a conventional pull: just different bar placement. I did them seated when I was recovering from ACL surgery and it seemed to go a long way with preserving strength. Bruce Randall and the Dave Tate era of Westside can also attest to their effectiveness. Glad to hear you got a good training session out of it.
yep!
The last two weeks have been a bit crazy. Bombed one exam, I think I passed the other two, turned in my final project, did two presentations, just turned in my senior thesis proposal and wrote a model
Also spent a couple of hours planning out christmas menu
A lot of ppl have been doing recaps. I thought I’d jump on the train @SvenG@cyclonengineer
Academics:
Classes: lowest course load I’ve had and will have. Had two standout profs that really made them enjoyable. One of them actually made me want to change direction a bit. With that said, it’s not been all sunshine and rainbows. Game theory kicked my arse. Coming back to in person classes has also been more taxing than expected. I wanted to skip class for the first time EVER… I also got my first B ever… I’m looking forward to next semester- easy classes and lab meetings!!! Senior year is going to be tougher since I’m taking more maths and ironically, a CS grad class on privacy and security.
Research: a lot less productive than I’d have liked. I did a mini project and made pretty minimal progress on my faces project. I thought I was seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, but my advisor realized that the design was completely off and that I needed to start over… I have spent the past two months on a pilot study… I am extremely doubtful I will be done by the time I graduate . I turned in a proposal for my senior thesis project yesterday. Hope to get the green light soon so I can get started and do as much as possible during break. The problem is that the project has no modeling. I haven’t done any projects with Econ modeling, but I also need to demonstrate my ability to do theory work for application purposes
Other: A very well regarded prof has promised to write ma a rec letter and “put in a good word” for me with a guy I want to study under in grad school.
Life:
I have female friends now!!! They are two girls in my game theory class. We’ve also hung out outside of class, which is a first. I get along with most of my sorority sisters, but I don’t have the same kind of “real” friendship
My cooking has taken off. I have have successfully made puff pastry 4 times! Achievement unlocked. Also getting better at presentation
Gym:
I can squat two plates and bench over 1 plate now!! Adjusting for bodyweight though, only the squat got stronger. Deadlift lagged…
I seem to recall you have ripped calluses in the past. Since it is recurring I recommend purchasing a Split Stick from Rhino Skin Solutions (assuming you are in the US then). I never really rip calluses but have had smilies, flappers, and splits (which sounds like what you are possibly describing actually) and that product heals those up far quicker than without. I’ve even used it on my shins after deadlifts to heal quicker.
Nice work. 2 plates is incredibly strong for your body weight (forget the adjustment bull crap). A lot of dudes can’t squat 2 plates properly (let alone more than 2x BW)
And congratulations on the no longer perfect academic record (seriously that first B is like a relief valve for self imposed pressure).
Not much can be done unfortunately. The best you can do is either avoid exercises that irritate it or tape it up (to avoid infection if it opens up) and training through discomfort.
