LOL
haha, yeah. This is the way of logging that’s most intuitive for me. It’s apparently very confusing for a lot of others
I feel like we’ve done this, haven’t we done this?
Week 3: Day 5
15x(2cleans+3squats+1jerk)/side-45lbs EMOM @jdm135 Completed! A LOT easier than expected
5x(6alternating KB snatches+10 rows/side)-25lbs EMOM
5x(40sec plank hold+20sec rest)+5x(40sec bird dog, alternate sides+20sec rest)
5x(20sec kickboxing/side+20sec rest)
- the “armour building complex” went too well, will try to do both sides each minute w/ the 37lb DB next time and eventually get to both sides each minute w/ the 45. It still worked upper back though → swings weren’t happening
You and me both. I’ll hit it again harder soon.
Week 3: day 6
5km ish weighted walk-25lbs,ran for 1km of it @Bagsy you’re a lot more impressive than me ![]()
Daily work
5x(10rows/side+20alt kb swings)-25lbs
- presses weren’t happening so switched presses for tomorrow’s easy cardio, will make up tomorrow, pushed the pace and felt good
I try to avoid comparing my performance to that of others, especially those suffering from disordered relationships with food and exercise. Your mental fortitude to beat yourself up day in and day out like this is remarkable, but I fear that those days are numbered. I would be impressed if you used that strength in a more healthy and productive way. I always hope things veer in that direction for you, even if only slightly.
Week 4: Day 1 (yesterday)
Military Press: 2x(8/side-32lbs+10rows/side-25lbs), 3x(7/side-32lbs+10 rows/side -25lbs), 90sec rests
Seated press: 2x8/side, 3x7/side, 2min rests, all w/32lbs
Z- press: 3x8-20lb Dbs
Conditioning: 10 swings-45lbs+20 pushups+ 9 swings+18 pushups… 1 swing+2 pushups
- felt pretty good going in, pretty crunched for time, presses killed shoulders, seated presses harder than expected, z- presses really tough on core but not too bad, did conditioning in the afternoon- swings a lot easier than expected but disappointed with pushups
Week 4: Day 2
Pistols: 2x9/side, 1x8/side, 6x(5/side+5 gorilla rows/side)- 90sec rests but 3 min rest btw sets 3 and 4, all reps w/45lbs
RDL: 5x5/side- 45lbs in one hand, 25lbs in the other, switch when switch sides
Daily work: 4x(25 swings+20 alt lunges)-25lbs
- very happy w/how the pistols went- didn’t expect 2x9, still killed legs and hr was pretty high during the session
@cyclonengineer just did my math exam. I think it went pretty well. If my estimates are correct, I think I’m good for an 87.5, which means I might actually have a chance of getting an A!
That’s excellent work. I think I only pulled an A in one of my 5 undergraduate math courses. Advanced math is tough work.
Week 4: Day 3 (yesterday)
37min fitness blender kickboxing and abs workout+ extra shoulder mobility stuff
5x(10rows/side-25lbs+20sec rest)
Make up presses:
Press: 2x(5cleans+7presses)/side-37lbs, 1x(5cleans/side+6presses), 2x6/side-37lbs, 90sec rest btw sets except 3min rest btw sets 3-4
Military Press: 3x11/side, no rest btw sets
- upper back felt horrid and felt like something was crushing my chest (usually happens day after hard leg workoug) so did kickboxing as usual to get blood flowing and open lungs, felt really good and quick, made up presses in the PM- harder than expected but go most of them done
Week 4: Day 4 (technically off day)
5x((10 military press/side+10rows/side+20alt kbs)+500m walk)
- have blood work tomorrow so couldn’t do normal workout, made up work from yesterday. kept it leisurely, shouldn’t impact the test
With everyone hopping on the multiple workout a day train, I really feel quite lazy
Life update: Mum shot down the idea of going back to Pittsburgh so I’m trying to find a 1 month rental in Fl. this shit is HARD.
Also, Craiglist is a fking scam. If I don’t get out of the house quick, I’m seriously going to have a breakdown
good news is that I’ve found a couple of trustworthy leads and now have a topic for independent research next semester… just need to find a supervisor
Also, getting soft, but haven’t gained weight and frankly too busy to give a crap
Ha! You’re gonna miss the one month out of the year that is actually pretty nice. ![]()
Your mom shot down Pittsburgh in favor of Florida?
And why are you searching craigslist for apartments? Nobody’s going to do a 1 month arrangement right now - landlords can expect at least a month’s vacancy before and after a tenant, it’s not worth the cost. You should be looking for a sublet, a room is the best you can hope for. If not that, get a steady job and move out altogether.
Aren’t you legally an adult? I’m not sure how it works in the US. Adult at 18, drinking at 21 or also adult at 21?
I’m well past those ages and still feel 12, hahaha.
I can’t speak for Anna’s family dynamics but have some impressions based on what she’s shared. Regardless, I’ll mention that I attended an expensive place (only saying this because Anna’s university is not cheap, and I don’t know her financial situation), thankfully covered partially by grant aid, and moved off campus after my second year. I did research during those years, which was unfortunately unpaid, so I had another job where I earned enough money to support myself (i.e. pay my own rent, utilities, and groceries). Some of my peers did this, too. Did it detract from my academic pursuits? I don’t know, but I turned out fine and don’t regret doing it.
I would not look at Craigslist for an apartment as an undergraduate. Seek older students looking to pass down their places via word-of-mouth or online housing groups, the latter especially for shorter term situations. If you’re stuck trying to find something in Florida, browse actual apartment hunting websites.
I like to think this isn’t entirely obsolete due to the pandemic, especially as restrictions loosen. Even if Anna’s family doesn’t let her go back to Pittsburgh, finding a job in Florida unrelated to research that pays the bills could be a good opportunity.
We live in Florida
In Asian culture, as long as you’re under their roof, you aren’t. LOL
We tried this, but the place where I am is not a college town/city. Pretty much everyone her is either rich or retired… not ideal for finding a student rental ![]()
There is a college town about an hour out, but mum isn’t comfortable driving that far
Yeah, I figured after typing that out that that would not be applicable if you’re stuck in Florida. But again, this is why apartment hunting websites exist.
Week 4: Day 5 (Yesterday)
Giant Set: Squat jump- pistols- row, 90 sec rests
2 warmup giant sets
3x(3 squat jumps-25lbs+3 pistols/side- 45lbs- 3010 tempo+10rows/side-25lbs)
Giant set 2: shrimp squat- duck walk- swings, 90sec rests
4x(10 shrimp squat/side-25lbs,3010 tempo+ 20 steps duck walk-25lbs+20 alt 1- arm swings-25lbs)
KB squats: 3x5/side-45lbs
- blood test got canceled and felt better so decided to squeeze this one in, not too bad on legs but really killed core, upper back pissed so switched higher rep shrimp squats with pistols, second giant set killed legs and core but felt good, the kb squats were a doozy
Week 4: Day 6
Sprints: 3x200m, 6x100m, 9x50m
5x(10rows/side+20sec rest)
4x(1 squat jump-25lbs+1broad jump+1squat jump)
5x(10 thrusters/side+20alt kb swings)
- felt really good this morning but upper back still pissed so decided to do some sprints. holy shit I’m out of shape, but mentally not bad at all- quitting never crossed my mind once. the thruster swings working was intense, but shoulders slowed me down
Update:
- looking fluffy again, not stressing b/c sodium has been very high lately
Would you feel this way if you weren’t spending time on Tnation?
