Anna's Training Log Part 2 (Part 1)

I never remember. Do you have any money of your own?

Yes, but she can see my spending

Which goals of yours is she on board with?

none of my strength ones
She let me get the kbs because she understood that working out is important to me, but didn’t pay attention to “how heavy” they were and regrets the decision. Both were pushing it, so I’m not going to risk stoking the fire

So…not your money?

“Hey mom, I want to order this fitness band thingy. Go google it, it is for light stretching and resitance, way safer than the KBs”

“pre-hab”

Jokes aside. I don’t know the proper word in English but, are you @anna_5588 considered an adult? Why can she see your bank account? The word might be “legally competent”

Oh, she can’t see my bank account but our amazon accounts are linked, so she can see what I buy. This is why I was considering getting a gym membership behind her back
If I were to buy it, I’d be using my own debit card, but she’d still see what I bought

I think I’m going to nix the bands (which I understand is suboptimal) and try the push press idea @Cyrrex mentioned while continuing to progress reps with the 25

There are other merchants besides Amazon, lol.
Also: Disconnect the accounts.

Also: I’m in favor of push presses. Bands are not necessary but I definitely like the idea.

Windmills and bent presses might get you there as well.

I live with her. She’d know I’d bought something regardless when the package arrives at our doorstep

I will give those a try, although, I’m not strong enough to windmill the 25lb yet- something to work on

I just wanted to contribute a dumb idea with the bands. McGyver solution

So, she could disapprove certainly but you said she wasn’t going to let you order one

Oh, I ask her before ordering things to avoid any nasty surprises
I tried with protein powder (a year ago when she thought it was going to destroy my kidneys) and the result wasn’t pretty

Such as? What’d be a nasty surprise?

Getting yelled at, my dad getting yelled at, and my brother getting yelled at as collateral damage
If I weren’t living with her, this conversation wouldn’t be happening because I’d just join a proper gym

To me, a band seems less offensive than protein powder but you’re the one best equipped to understand the reality you inhabit I suppose. If I was in acute problem solving mode I’d suggest ordering some books to hide the band but honestly, read the Anatomy of Peace.

Family is tough and all that…bad holy crap, I almost want to start one of those GoFundMe thingies so you can move out and get your own place.

I appreciate the sentiment :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:
But, I’m already a spoiled brat, but not so spoiled that I’d abandon my mom and brother to train. In school, at least I have an excuse

I find it worrying, but not uncommon, that your mum seems to be becoming the enemy here. I really think you have some massive opportunities to build the relationship with your parents here. If you can build the trust and open up the communication, she won’t need to monitor your purchases anymore and you can both start working together towards the same goal.
