Substitute break with off-day then
FWIW if I was applying my magic wand to Anna I’d opt for happiness with herself. That’d probably get more at the heart of this

I would strongly disagree. It’s both. She is not someone who never eats, although that’s definitely most of the problem, but she uses extremely long and outrageously high rep workouts to compensate for anything she does eat. There is nothing wrong with her work ethic whatsoever, it’s that exercise is serving as a deficit tool along with inadequate nutrition. Exercise needs to be toned down and nutrition needs to be brought up.
Agreed
Agreed
I will agree with a caveat. I believe (maybe naively), that simply fixing the nutrition would allow her to live healthily and happily. The exercise only becomes an issue in and of itself when we talk about powerlifting specific goals.
If this is somehow a adulting joke nudge nudge thing I remind you that she’s nineteen and teenagers are children.
Very much depends. But you’re right.
haha, I rely on sites like this for “education”
Funny thing, I actually feel quite good right now.
Part of the reason it’s so hard for me to take time off is because no matter how crappy I feel going into a workout, things always seem to sort themselves out later in the day
I disagree fam.
It’s maybe unfair to you to bring this up as I’ve had this discussion before (not that the other party ever understood my POV), and if so I’m sorry, but someone linked me this

With the sentiment that powerlifting fixed her eating disorder.
Now, maybe reframing her eating disorder within a powerlifting context saved her from a worse outcome but when I read that text I still see an eating disorder. She managed to create a relationship with food that aids her in her progression, and that’s fantastic, but her food choices are still very much informed by a strained relationship with food. Orthorexia took the place of anorexia.
Neither is a foundation for a happy life.
It’s great that you can feel better later in the day, but that’s not a hall pass to go destroy yourself later. You absolutely deserve to have those highs, but don’t let their existence blind you from that you have problematic lows. I know it’s hard to even retain a working memory of how the lows are when you feel good but their repeat occurrence should absolutely inform part of your behaviour even when things are well so that you don’t end up in a situation where you never really have any “I feel good”-s and your definition of feeling good is replaced by a relative measurement of how far away you are from your deepest low.
I don’t think you like my advice, it’s usually harsh.
I think you should try taking an entire week off (and not compensate with reduced calories)
Agreed.
I’m simply presenting my thoughts, while aware I’m very far from an expert. Particularly in areas like this that are well outside the realms of my experience.
Running
800m warmup+2mile tempo run (@jshaving, remember these
)
4 100m strides- 2min rests
Hollow hold: 4x(30sec+30sec rest)
Cardio… nani dafuq. R ur goals really to hit mad relative strength on squats/deads?
Yeah, but I get 3 day a week to have fun ![]()
Apparently, up to 5hrs of cardio doesn’t hurt performance for ppl who are used to it
That’s for casuals. If u wanna be elite ur gonna have to save as much work/recovery capacity for the specific gains that are going to carryover maximally to ur goals all the while minimising interference effects. But if u are happy with fairly suboptimal enjoy I guess lol
Good point. My current training situation is already below suboptimal, so it’s a way to keep me from throwing in the towel and training for a marathon ![]()
I love your typing style, there’s an efficiency to the grammatical liberties ![]()
Thnx… I’ll take that as a compliment. Well English is my second language after all so it’s aight. I can’t say I’ve ever truly respected English enough to nail the grammar to perfection nevermind appreciating it as an art form. To me it’s very useful as a means to communicate nothing more and for that purpose perfect grammar really is overkill.
Anyways where was I u do what u wanna do. I outlined how u can still be working very productively towards ur goals but won’t take it personally if u don’t heed the WisdomPig. However in the interest of the gains it would be remiss of me not to emphasise that dem jogging gains are in fact taking steps or should I say broad strides running away from ur specifically stated goals very much putting u further and further away. Enjoy tho
You’re advice is great (and what pinky recommended)
I’m using that as my training foundation… then I have fun ![]()
![]()
You should trademark that!
Fun… all I’m interested in is gains.
Done.
I’ve yet to develop that mindset ![]()
WisdomPig will show u the way for 4 instalments of 50 dollarinos
