I know the cost of 5g of Androgel is about 250 month, but I am curious that if my doc decides to up the dosage to 7.5 or even 10, how much would the cost go up?
Any feedback is appreciated.
Thanks

I’ve never paid more than 50 bucks a month with insurance for 10 grams.
The cost might go up. If you don’t use insurance, it definitely will.
Ok, thanks.
I have insurance but its crappy now till my company changes it. So, I would have to pay out of pocket till my deductible is met.
Is that 250 bucks the co-pay? What insurance do you have?
Just inject, that is dirt cheap. Read the sticky.
I expect that costs for OP will double if the dose doubles.
T gels are a rip off.
Not for those with insurance.
Some forms of drug delivery are created to suck money out of health insurance plans and are priced very high, not caring if that means that that some cannot afford the product. I think that it is really stupid to disregard the real costs. Things like that are what have made health care such a disaster.
My insurance before was great, becasue in January, i had to pay the one time 250 to meet my deductilbe in my prescription plan and then it was 35 bucks a month. My company then changed it and it was a full 1500 deductible for both prescription and medical. I switch to shots because of this.
I liked the gel better becase i felt better and i think i got better results as well.
When i talked to my doc last, i menition going back to the gel and he said he may bump me up to 7.5 since he has adjusted my shots according to blood test.
I may decent money where i can afford the 250 a month, but if it will be more, then i will stick to shots till my insurance changes again, which i am told my company plan to do in the future.

You can get your dr to order it through a compounding pharmacy for 40 bucks a month and it work just as good. Our patients are very satified with compounded t gel and its so much cheaper and less mess to apply. Lef.org has a great reputation for gels and customer service may want to have dr look into them

How can it be less mess considering Androgel absorbs into the skin after about 30 to 60 seconds of rubbing? After that, there’s hardly any discernible residue on the skin.
I have found that LEF has really good prices for hormone creams, for male and female HRT.

With compounded gels there are 1/10 the amount needed to get same results. Simple rub a dime size spot of gel on your inner forarms and drys in 2-6 minutes no issue and does not smell. Just have to find a quality pharmacy. Lef is top of list.
I ran into the same problem when I was first diagnosed. I have decent insurance and it was $250/month for me as well. I said hell no, find me a cheaper solution and they prescribed Testosterone Cyponiate that costs $80 a vial and lasts like 2 months.

This is exactly what I did.
