m suprised no one has posted about this yet. His lifts were as follows, Squat 435 kg, Bench 260 kg, Deadlift 405 kg. Total 1100 kg. Insane, He makes them look like warm ups. He even tried squatting 455kgs or 1003lbs but was red lighted as it was high.
BEAST!
I’m kind of amazed he didn’t get the raw squat WR though.
Powerful!
About time that record fell.
I know im surpised he didnt as every Video ive seen him squatting in he squats to a good depth. Eric lillebridge had this to say about it on his fb page “Andrey skipped his opener because he wasn’t done warming up yet. He took 435kgs-959lbs as his first squat on the 2nd attempts and it was a very fast, easy lift. He jumped to 455kgs-1,003lbs on his last attempt to try and break the all time highest raw squat ever in history. He finished the lift just as easy as his first, but it was a no lift. I’m still not sure why though? He destroyed that lift.”
I found the video of the red lighted 455 kg/1003 lbs squat and it looks good to me, He got screwed over by the judges in my opinion.
Pausing both videos at the bottom it’s hard to see any difference between the two. Still, it would have been cool for him to take both records in the same meet.
Watching the speed of those lifts he’s got the potential to move that record higher.
Also, from Andrey’s facebook
“We were late to the venue so Andrey only had two attempts on the squat, his 455kg was red lighted but was a good lift in the opinion of many!!! He had planned to squat 470kg on his third. We asked for a fourth attempt of 470kg but he wasn’t eligible because his last attempt wasn’t successful.
Andrey was forced to use a 35mm squat bar for the first time ever, the original squat bars were not strong enough for his lifts. The deadlift bar was a stiff bar too, and he had trained with a bendy Texas bar his whole preparation. Everything was against him in this competition but he still made 1100!!”
I love how calm and collected he is at the end after setting a world record.
He is a great lifter. As always his squats looked unstoppable. Shame he didn’t get the judges’ calls going his way for a squat WR, but to be honest it’s only a matter of time anyway. I look forward to further records and feats of strength from him in the near future!
Screwed over? No. Unlucky? Yea.
That squat could be called either way.
He seems like the type that will come back and beat his old record anyway.
Yeah, he has more in him. That is like how Kaz used to look. He would crush his third attempt and leave everyone confused as to why he didn’t do more.
Goddammit Andrey. I am tempted to FB him and ask him to do another meet like next week.
Just noticed he does that seem bench move as Dan Green, the “sink and press”. Though he seems to hold it a bit longer than the Boss.

Not that he needs it, but he gets alot of respect from me for his calmness. I hate seeing guys slam into people, push other people, storm off the platform dropping f-bombs. His approach of, “I just set the world record…where are we going to eat?” approach is awesome.
