Something needs to be done. And it should be powerful, not a limp wristed formal sanctioning or other bureaucratic bullshit. Something lasting so this is looked back upon with disgust.
Woah⦠That one dude is juiced to the fucking gills
Imagine waking up and seeing that in the mirror. Ngl Iād probably be pretty happy before subsequently kneeling over from a massive heart attack at the age of 32
The tagline for this article rings very objectivly true: Before Trumpās extremist supporters stormed the Capitol, cops were accustomed to seeing them as allies.
Cops had one helluva 2020 and the only ones who had their back at every riot/protest where the exact folks who stormed congress. Enemy of my enemy is my friend situation. Backfired big-time.
Race baiting at this time is silly. So many Americans agree that what happened was wrong that there is no need for a return to divisiveness.
What did that dumb writer want? Does he think the rioters should have been shot⦠oh wait, one was. How many BLM protesters were shot by police? Zero.
Itās pathetic and cowardly to race bait with this tragedy. Fucking scum bags.
Lebron the cunt said this proves there are 2 different Americas.
Yea⦠Open fire on a massive crowd inside a building where a bunch of idiots, some violent, some not, are bunched up together with tensions off the charts. What could POSSIBLY go wrongā¦
BLM riots for months. Assaults police and others. Billions in damages. Lives lost, including Dave Dorn, a BLACK man⦠No riots for him.
If you support either side of this abortion drink fucking bleach
I donāt see it as race baiting. I believe the point was to try and explain why the police response that day was so weak- because the folks there that day had been allies to the police through the summer riots and were not initially viewed as a threat. Makes a lot of sense to me.
Do you have ideas why the police response that day was so underwhelmingly weak? There were no where near enough officers for the very obvious, long forseen threat. A small minority of cops just letting folks run by, taking selfies, joking with them at times, etc.
And Iām not comparing this summer to this week. Two very different situations and deserving of very different responses on a micro and macro scale.
I would ask why did the individual in charge not want more police there. However, what would have been considered a strong response? Standing down and letting looters and arsonists have free rein, as happens in urban areas, or killing Americans to protect property?
I think it took the capitol police off guard. They never expected the good guys, the guys waving the thin blue line flags and wearing maga hats, the guys who had been fighting the same assholes they had all summer to violently riot and storm congress. So, they ignored all the intelligence, and ignored all the warnings and short staffed the event. And then when people started getting rowdy they were given quite a lot of rope because they had been on the same side all summer, right? No need to crack down and disperse this rowdy protest, no need to bring in reinforcements. But that backfired big time and it turned into an uncontrollable riot.
How many cops took selfies and joked around with rioters and looters during this summers riots in the midst of the rioting and looting? None. But numerous ones did on wednesday (still a small minority of the much larger group of cops fighting the good fight that day).
Agreed we need answers from the capitol police chief.
A strong response would have been calling in reinforcements and extra manpower early, and in a big way, and then deploying all the normal nonlethal weaponry to drive the protest back away from the capitol.
And Iām not even talking about the 3.5 hours it took to clear the rioters out of congress, trump refusing to send natl guard, and pence having to go around him to issue the order.
We could also, in that spirit, that the refusal to violently stop looters and arsonists of color was about optics and not whatās right or wrong.
Looters tend to avoid the police. Iām sure that there were some positive interactions between protesters and police.
How many looters were killed by police?
This needs to be emphasized. It was a rally led by the president. Who would have thought the president would encourage things to turn out the way they did. Remember, this was supposed to be a march led by Trump but he got in his limo and left. He abandoned the police.
Of course, weāll have to wait until the rioters clear out of the Capitol before we can compare the damage to that which occurred in cities earlier this year.
Bobby Lashley is actually a pretty cool dude. I met him in my gym a number of years ago while he was visiting friends (non juicing normal looking guys, he was working out with them). I let him alone but some of the local personal trainers were hounding him lol. After he was done training I walked over and told him I was sorry he had to deal with all that BS.
That led to a good conversation, and probably one of the greatest compliments ever when he asked to take a pic with me because he said I looked like his buddy Triple H and he wanted to send it to him. #bucketlistIdidntknowIhad
Thatās possibly true. But what the writer misses is that while they might technically be right, they are missing the chance to galvanize more people against this monstrosity by majoring in the minors. Pick your battles, this isnāt one thatās productive for people and if pursued it has the chance to actually build sympathy for those scumbags at the Capitol. Natural knee jerk reaction from people.
Thereās one America that was attacked and suffered damage Wednesday. Thatās all that matters right now. Anything else risks distracting am already easily distracted populace from the core issue (even if the motive for writing is good).
Also, itās more accurate to say that the Capitol Hill police were not prepared because that has not been their function for the past several decades. They have been more likely to escort a noisy observing tourist out of observation gallery or point directions to a confused visitor.
