And We Were All Overreacting Over BLM?

Honestly, I probably would have been by now had we not moved to New Jersey in the nineties and lived there for almost four years.

The Garden State has that effect o people, I guess.

People often wonder where that comes from due to the myth of NJ not being nice, as per your perspective.

Upper Montclair, Princeton, Summit -I’m no traveling man, but those are 3 nice places I’ve been to often and cannot afford LOL.

Not to mention Saddle River, Rumson, Short Hills etc.

ROFL. Yes, yes it does. I am sorry on behalf of all other Americans for the trauma you suffered while in that armpit of the country…

However I know one jersey girl who will change your mind about it (no she’s not a stripper). She’s a friend of mine that grew up in the rural part of Jersey and it is MUCH better out there. Way more like the Midwest when you get away from the assholes. As per @punnyguy, there are some really pretty places with nice people.

The only problem is you have to go so far out of the way to get away from said assholes.

Just to give some folks here an example of how an average, normal person thinks:

I don’t agree with, or am on the fence(which means I haven’t devoted sufficient thought to such matters to have an educated, objective and honest opinion) wrt around 40 percent of your views.

But I pressed the ā€œlikeā€ button because I agree with the rest.

Exactly.

It was tongue-in-cheek really, no worries  Rural NJ has some really nice places, but like everything it’s a question of money first and foremost. And my parents had four kids and two shitty jobs, and therefore there was no fucking way to send the four of us to college.

In the case of Montclair, which is very nice, it’s in Essex County about 10 miles from Newark. It’s hard to not notice that.

Maplewood is like that as well. You’re in Irvington, which is a third world nation, then in minutes you cross a border and it’s as if the sun just came out. And don’t make the mistake of confusing Irvington for Livingston.

But you can’t shoot the deer.

Somewhere between my childhood and adulthood, I heard Hoboken became chic…

There was a kid from Camden at my college (circa 1980) -all the city/urban kids knew not to fcuk with him…

Hmmmmm

Looks like both the right AND the left can be culpable for this shit

Imagine the response had these been BLM protestors…

Holy fuck NO.

The left didn’t try to overthrow a free and fair election of the presidency by having it’s top leaders encourage a mob to violently storm congress to physically harm or intimidate congress out of doing their constitutional duty of transferring power peacefully.

This is NOT an equivalency. At All.

Agreed, the scenario of which devolved into rioting isn’t equatible.

I’m referring, in black and white terminology to the conduct present at a given event. In this case I’m referring to rioting.

I’ve seen time and time again people state ā€œthe rioting is coming from the LEFTā€. Here this clearly isn’t the case, that’s all I’m pointing out.

A little bit hypocritical given how plenty went nuts over the conduct pertaining to a very small minority of protestors throughout 2020, but the second an electoral outcome eventuates of which doesn’t align with a certain narrative these same people go up in arms and incite violence

Isn’t this what they were preaching against like… A few months ago?

This wasn’t rioting. This was an attempted violent overthrow of our country’s free and fair election encouraged by the outgoing president and carried out by his sychophant supporters.

They didn’t try to burn down stores or loot. They tried to very literally burn down and loot congress, in an organized attempt to violently circumvent our constitution.

The mother fucking president outright supports this.

This is not a fucking equivalency. JFC.

What I found peculiar was the lack of security present during the attempted coup/raid.

You’d think police presence and/or guarding would’ve been more extensive. They actually managed to break into Congress, there’s footage of law enforcement taking selfies with these rioters…

Chill out, never said the pretenses that dictated the behaviour were equivalent. I’m staying the conduct, in this case what I BELIEVE to be rioting is equatible.

Thinking logically there’s no way these guys could have interrupted the electoral process/handover for a significant amount of time. Thus I call it a riot. We have footage of these goons breaking windows, getting into altercations with police etc. To ME, that’s rioting.

ā€˜JFC’ means Jesus fucking Christ right?

I absolutely loathe this man with a fiery passion.

On a positive note … Georgia senate runoff results!!!

For the record, when I created this thread it wasn’t violent protests/looting/rioting that I was referring to. It was the ideology that BLM and sjw woke culture share that I took issue with.

As far as equivalence, that’s bull. Antifa are not affiliated with any political party and in fact, hate both. The BLM associated violence and looting was mainly criminals taking advantage of an opportunity to loot.

What happened in DC was a direct result, and in many ways the intended result, of Trump’s rhetoric. And for the Trump supporters who believe themselves to be reasonable and rational, take note of the numbers of antisemites and white supremacists who took part. Ask yourselves why Trump’s message is so appealing to them.

there is evidence some LEOs allowed this. There are substantiated reports trump refused to send in more police to clear/protect congress and pence + white house staff had to go around trump to get the national guard involved.

I don’t think you understand what actually happened yesterday, or you wouldn’t be telling an american to chill out right now.
