And In Other News

Are you talking about medicare here, or medicaid? I’m not being a smart ass but trying to clarify your intent.

If Medicaid, as I suspect, please provide citations of hospitals opting out of medicaid. And which hospitals for cancer treatment in states that are expanding medicaid? And what is your point, if that is true?
I typed in Medicaid twice and even edited it and it kept showing up as Medicare.

First, I am glad your demeanor has changed. We are having a discussion now.

Look at the article because it shows the hospitals in question. ACA/Obamacare has expanded Medicaid and created insurance exchanges. I was under the impression from what I have read if you opt out of the exchanges you opt out of Medicaid.

Why would people sign up for Medicaid if they get subsidies on the exchanges that make it cost the same ($0)? Why would we need a law to create the exchanges if all we wanted was to increase the size of Medicaid?

I am thinking this ACA/Obamacare is a bait and switch at its best.

Looks like the bulk of people are signing up for Medicaid and not the insurance exchanges.

Why is everyone keep bringing up Texas? Yeah I live here, but I never singled out Texas.

And to answer your question so will every other state.

Everyone is acting like money is just flying out of the trees and paying for Medicaid.

If people want to have expanded Medicaid they can move to a state that has expanded it.
We aren’t bringing it up because you live there–that is purely coincidental. you aren’t some unique snowflake that gets your own special arguments and retorts.

It is easy to talk about Texas because they are the most prominent of the refusals and also happen to have the worst track record of citizen health care. It is kinda ground zero for the health care debate. Population and Budget also make it easier to talk to. Sure the other states are also relevant, but on a smaller scale.

That said, this is the OTHER NEWS section and we have taken up too much bandwidth discussing it here. If oyu want to start a new thread to talk about the Medicaid expansion, go ahead and do it. You are relying on conjecture and fear, I have talked numbers that you conveniently disagree with. Put your own numbers to it and we can have a discussion (in another thread) otherwise I will just continue on with my day…
How does Texas have the worst track record of citizen health care? You just stating that Texas does not spend as much money as other states? I doubt Texas has a higher level of mortality than any other state.

More money does not mean better outcomes.

I do not think your impression is accurate. And stating that the ‘hospitals are opting out’ is also a bit misleading. What’s really happening is the insurance providers aren’t incorporating those hospitals into their covered providers (preferred providers is probably the right term). This is on the hospitals as well as the insurers, as it takes an agreement between the two.

But regardless this doesn’t impact Medicaid acceptance, or at least the two are not directly tied together. As noted the hospitals are clamoring for Medicaid expansion because they are not getting the federal subsidy that they previously got to make up for some of the costs of the uninsured patients. This left them with a massive shortfall that was supposed to be made up by medicaid expansion.

No, but they are the state with the highest percentage of uninsured. I was not [necessarily] blaming it on Texas, as a state, but pointing out that Texas, as a people, have a real problem regarding health care. Maybe I should have used Texans instead.

But again, this will be my last post in Other News. If another thread opens up I’ll be glad to discuss it there. I’ve learned a lot about the law today, mostly things i had already known but needed a refresher on. But I did learn that the ACA only covers 100%/90% of the expansion of medicaid, and not the overall costs (meaning the old ratios still apply from those previously covered) as I had thought. Sorry for the name calling. Have a great day.

Well, then, if we are talking about efficiency, perhaps there is a way to measure up the prospective servants of Allah.
Or if we respect fate and Allah’s will, perhaps a lottery will do.

But i don’t write the rules…or the fatwa.

An example, in the original of an (intentional) four-way amphibulous construction.

When a wise man and a dolt contend, (he) rages and does not achieve contentment (calm).

The “he” is understood. But which is the “he?” Which is the rager, and which cannot achieve satisfaction and calm?

I would love to blame this on Obama, but any President is going to have this issue, if the use of drones to strike are increasingly used. There will be “Collateral Damage.”

It is either Drones or Boots on the Ground. Most people will vote for Drone Strikes.
