I’m planning my first real cycle. I’ve done sarms but want more now.
My plan is to do 300mg/wk test + 20mg/day var. Test for 8 weeks and the var the last 6 weeks. I want to start light and understand risk/reward…and I’ll take smaller reward for smaller risk at this point.
I’ll be starting at:
55 yrs old, 5-9, 155lbs, ~10%, diet and training well under control, been competing for years.
First off, I’m a big CICO guy and understand most people use var for cutting. But if you’re in a surplus, surely var would build muscle, no? Especially when coupled with test?
I don’t post a lot in these channels but have you thought about doing Test only?
If you’re going from natty to 300mg/wk of Test you’re going to see big gains there and might experience sides. I’m just on TRT and at 200mg/wk I went from low 200s to ~800 and I have about 115lbs on you.
Adding in var isn’t crazy or anything but it adds confusion to how much you are getting out of either test or var and if you get sides it’s harder to tell why.
That avi is contest day; I was probably ~6%. I’m around 163 and 13% now but I plan on getting to a better starting point to start my cycle.
Yes, always been small, easily lean out. It’s my turn now.
I plan on leaning out, getting into a 500 cal/day surplus for the first 2 weeks, then increasing that surplus so I’m making sure I gain at least 1-1.25lbs per week. My diet will be mostly chicken, eggs, oats, avacado, spinach, whey, casein and pasta.
I plan to continue my bulk after my cycle ends to help hang on to gains. I think a lot of guys lose a bit post cycle because they go on a cut immediately after cycle. I feel it may work better to stay in a surplus for another 3 months post cycle, then do a cutting cycle.
Maybe I wil just do the 300mg/wk test only for my first and then add the var on my second, cutting cycle.
I agree with @Andrewgen_Receptors here. Don’t just arbitrarily add cals. Add 200-300cals when needed and aiming for 1-1.25lbs/wk is a sure way to get fat.
You can start with the 500cal surplus but don’t add until the scale stops moving.
When you finish the cycle work slowly down to your new maintenance and then stay there for a couple months. After you reach homeostasis then start cutting slowly with 200cal drops as needed.
Nothing keepable happens fast in this game.
