Anabolic Diet

by the way i just had a pretty awesome chest/back workout today.

yes, yesterday was my carb up but this session i killed it (for me at least) lol

i’ve probably DB benched 2x in the last 6 months, so today i decided just to mess around and do what ever my friend wanted to do for a little

so today we started with the adjustable incline, probably midway between 45 and 30 degrees

warmed up a little and did 90’s for 15. i didnt think it was too bad for never doing that movement… then went on and set PR’s for those seated cable rows w/ a neutral v-grip, kneeling face pulls, and finished off with 2 20 rep sets of DB rows w/ the 100’s

almost forgot the moral of the story lol, through out the day of my carb up i had close to like 3500-4000 mg ALA, sipped on green tea and decaf coffee and took a swig of AC vinegar every hour or so

Nice job. It’s good to have days like this once and a while.

hey guys - I’m doing the Anabolic Diet now - except that I use a scoop of Surge Workout Fuel peri-workout. Needless to say, I like it a lot. After 3 days, my gym owner already asked me if I was losing weight, lol.

i would try going w/ 1/2 scoop at least for the induction phase. or get some xtend.

i felt the same way during my workouts using 2 scoops Surge Workout Fuel as i do now using 3 scoops xtend.

Update on the zig-zagging calorie method for fat loss.

I think I will do this -

Mon - 3000
Tues - 1500
Wed - 1500
Thur - 3000
Fri - 3000
Sat - 1500
Sun - 4000 (Carb Load)

Based on the logic that the metabolism will be ramped following 2 days of higher calories. The following days of lower calories should have a fat loss impact.

Will report back in a week.

I am going to stick with 1 scoop just because of the fact that I’m using Thib’s beastly Indigo program right now, and it has a LOT of volume… so the extra 17g carbs isn’t going to affect anything. It may not be true Anabolic Diet but this works for me.

How many calories are you taking in a day?

The Dr said <30 grams of carbs a day. If you’re under that, you’re fine I’d say.

I would even say the higher your calorie level - the more fat you’re taking in - the more you can increase the CHO. Maybe up to 50g on a 5000kcal/day intake.

no idea what my kcals are, I don’t count them, and never will.

fair enough just a thought

but if you ever do decide to try strict AD i highly recommend xtend.

Does anyone do HIIT work on AD? I have a econo-prowler that I was pushing before while carb cycling. Is it ok to sprint with it 2-3x per week? Should I take in some carbs before like maybe 30g from surge or something? I hear a lot of negativity about doing sprints while low carb.

Quick question guys,

Lets say Ive eaten 30 grams of carbs in the day from misc sources like green veggies and Whey etc.

Then dinner time comes and theres more green veggies like cabbage, cucumber or lettuce.

Is it ok too chow down on these if youve already hit said 30 grams since there green veggies?

Anyone else have problems posting??? I have posted something twice now and its not showing up? . . arrrr! . . well I’ll try later and see if three times is a charm . . .this is NOT the first time I have had this issue

OK lets try a cut and past in this EDIT window . . now I’m on a quest . .

OK I was playing around with my phone app that I use for tracking my diet and all that and came across something interesting so Iâ??ll toss it out for discussion.

The other day we were talking about our % breakdowns and all that so I went back and picked a random day and it broke down like all the rest at: 73% fat, 24% protein, 3% carbs so for whatever reason I decided to take out the EVOO and whipping cream entries and after dropping 1285 cals my totals looked more like the prescribed values at 57% fat, 38% protein, 5% carbs.

So my question is this . . . Any thoughts in general? . . should I leave it alone or subtract some of the fats (reluctant to do that as most of it is from GOOD fat) . . or finally leave it alone and just have maybe like 2 more shakes.

Now keep in mind that finally after a long plateau my strength is going up in my squat and dead and Iâ??m happy and as I said Iâ??m not overly worried about BF (within reason of course) as Iâ??m a PL and all I care about is health and adding weight to my overall total at my next comp.

And as a refresher Iâ??m always at 30 grams or under a day for carbs and my BF is pretty much staying at the same week to week.

BTW . . . I know we all know this but I felt like venting after a rough set of bench . . . I had a not so good carb up on the weekend as it was my anniversary so after eating a lot of crap at The Falls I swelled up like a pig and felt like garbage and all I have to say about that is MAN I’m feeling it this week in the gym.

I was WAY overdue for a rough chest workout and today is just that ROUGH! . . and to top it off my allergies are killing me so UGH! . . already looking forward to this weekend to reset my body . . so remember carb up smart and eating chips and junk with the kids is fun but doesn’t help in the gym lol but sometimes you just have to do what is necessary and take one for the team lol . . great weekend non the less

BTW I’m saying its my allergies as I refuse to except the fact that its a cold lol

I would say as long as you are finished with the introductory phase you will be fine as fibre is free food. . . .and once you have made the shift you can subtract the fibre from “said” foods. . . so if something had 5 carbs and 2 from fibre you would only count 3 . . just my thoughts

if you are doing the induction phase, then NO! stay below 30 grams after subtracting fiber

i’ve been doing this for probably 8 months now so i dont really worry about carbs from green veggies but that should be avoided at least the first 3-4 weeks or so

i think there is some merit to seeing what carbs “work for you”

i’ve stuck with oat meal and grains in the past for the most part but this time the majority of my carbs were from rice (and rice cakes), a sweet potato and regular potatoes.

i’m part irish so maybe that has something to do with it…

leave the fats where they are and add in two shakes wherever they fit during the day. the extra protein can only help you and if not, its not like they’ll hurt you.

Anyone have any tips on this? Sorry to bump it up again, but I’m suppose to prowler sprint today with my buddy. Thanks guys!

Cool bud . . I usually have 2 shakes during the day and then some casein at night so I’ll either add another scoop to my shakes or just space 2 more in some place . . . but first I have to rid myself of this cold . . grrrrrr

do any of you guys notice getting…err…softer? during the induction phase? usually i lean out really fast on the AD but this time i upped fats a bit higher in the form of olive oil and eggs, and it seems im gaining some pudge around the waist :s
how many cals were you at last time and how many cals are you at this time?
no idea. all i know is that this time around im using alot more “dirty” sources such as sausages and hamburgers. its just so convenient to grab a fast food burger (or 4) and toss out the buns. same with sausages. and upped olive oil to 3 tblsp per meal. id estimate my calories were up near 4000 a day with a body weight of 195-200.

im going to have to do the induction phase over though, as i cheated twice already due to social outings. i dont mind at all as i prefer this way of eating anyway. carb ups were over the weekend so it’ll all balance out in future anyway once i do the 2 week induction.
