so today is day 3 for me back on AD, and ive been SLUGGISH as hell the past 3 days…until my afternoon snack. i had maybe 2oz of turkey with a shit ton of melted cheddar and 2 tblsp of coconut oil. then for dinner a huge steak and a sausage. well talk about a buzz. im guessing my body just prefers high fat diet, who knows, but i like it!

RE: amino acids…
IIRC, Bushidobadboy stated (in the BCAA dosing thread) that muscle protein synthesis is determined by the rate of increase in amino acids in the body. If I’m interpreting this correctly, I’d say that slamming all of your AA’s pre-workout would be better than slowly sipping them. He also suggested 10g of leucine 15min before taking your aminos. He also recommended EAA’s instead of BCAA’s as EAA’s are a complete protein source.
i agree 100%. EAA > BCAA.
i mainly just use BCAA’s for the anti-catabolic and workout intensity properties bc i lift fasted.
i remember CT talking about casein hydro being the best, then EAA’s, then BCAA’s
only thing i would do differently is (if it were one or the other) is take said aminos immediately PWO then have a meal 30 mins later.
if i understand correctly, it causes the pulse in blood aminos and increases protein synthesis fr the following meal as well

So, I originally posted this question in another thread, but on the advice of others, thought I’d repost it here (sorry for duplicating):
I’m in the middle of the induction phase of the Anabolic diet (the 12 day period of high fat, high protein, very low carb) and I have a long cycling event (100 mile ride, I’ll be burning almost 5000 calories over about 7 hours) scheduled for what will be day 6 of this.
Any of you guys that have done cycling realize how big a deal carb intake is for longer rides, and how dumb I probably am to attempt this.
Yes, I’m probably stupid for trying this, I’ll own that. But I’m just curious to see what you think – should I stay strict to the AD during the ride (I figure a lot of string cheese and maybe some deli meat taken with me could possibly work) or is it ok to have a carb day on day 6, given the circumstances?
Thanks,
How bad do you want to win? ![]()

that’s a waste of time if you have the carb up
you will NEED to do the STRICT 12 day induction. dont fuck with it.
if have the carbs, you need to start over.
pick one or the other.
why not just start AD AFTER the event?

Yeah, this is probably what I’ll end up doing. I was just anxious to get started and wondered if this would be as big of a deal as I thought it would, and the consensus is, yes, it is. So I’ll take a few days “off” and then start it over next week.
Thanks for the advice!
Well after some thoughtful considerations, I have decided to start bulking with AD. So far the only time I have done AD is for cutting purpose but this time around I want to gain some weight while minimizing fat accumulation. Training wise, I will be training 6x/week (OTS BBB) MODOK inspired =) I will be eating via IF style. Now I know usually people don’t recommend bulking on IF and I agree with their points. I am only doing so because it fits my lifestyle perfectly and I have been doing it for nearly a year.If by any chance I feel like I need to eat more often due to the rigorous training then I will eat more, but until my body tells me that I will be keeping my 8hr meal window. Another reason is because I enjoy big meals. BIG meals…
In addition, I will be training fasted also. Been doing this for the past year as well and I find working out on empty stomach a lot more comfortable than with some substance in it. However, I do take pre-workout consiting of Xtend and also bring a bottle of that with me to sip on while working out. I find that extremely helpful and will never drop it!
I will be keeping a log of this little experiment over here to detail my diet and training. Feel free to drop by and add some pointers!

Good luck man. I hope that works out for you. Make sure you keep us updated on this “main AD thread…” It’s the only window I never close…

I look forward to watching your progress and good luck. It can be a challenge bulking on the AD but once you find the magical cal number the results are amazing.
Good luck
BTW I found my magical cal number to be about 4500+/-

You guys mess with Chorizo(sp?) at all? I mean, this stuff is incredible scrambled with eggs, cheddar & spinach. Been eating it pretty much every morning. The toughest decision I face every day is whether I want chorizo or thick cut applewoord smoked bacon with my eggs & cheddar. Also, anyone getting decreased appetite on this? Granted I’m trying to shed a few pounds, but I’m only eating 3 big meals, plus 1 shake of whey & natty PB.

I’ll have to give Chorizo a try. Here is a meal I had from the other day, was my post workout meal. Eggs scrambled with bacon, chicken sausage w/ bell peppers, and cheese.
I get those chorizo sausage from Costco to scramble with eggs…absolutely delicious. But for the price, the hot links at Costco are better due to higher fat content for the same price.
@scooze: That looks amazing… I’m instantly hungry and I just finished a 32oz T-bone.

hmm…very, very interesting stuff. thanks. i took leucine a while back but never noticed anything, maybe ill have to try it out again. tastes like puke though, what do you flavour it with? ive got a huge surplus of BCAAs now lol so when theyre done ill try out EAAs. any particular brand? i was looking at some humapro because so many guys here recommend it.

about leucine
i bought a 1000 gram tub about 6 months ago. my entire para-workout protocol or whatever you wanna call it was a pre workout and then sip on a scoop of whey mixed w/ 10 grams leucine
i was consistently getting stronger on about 2200 cals a day (AD w/ 1 day carb up) on every lift
now that i think about it, when i dropped it i kind of burned out and havent been able to get back into the same kind of groove since
i ABSOLUTELY believe there is a lot of benefit to mixing leucine w/ a “complete” or even semi complete protein source (i would assume from a couple of CT’s posts that hydrolized casein would be best)
@Quadzilla: Hahaha, I’m always happy to make someone crave red meat. I’m going down a road that you paved this carbup. A road of Pasta!
So today is my first carb-up day and I’m going to the Olympiad here in Vegas. I’m hoping my carb-up includes lots of free samples of shakes, protein bars, etc. LOL.

i bought a new pre/intra/post workout combo
between the two im getting 40g of protein from pepto pro, Casein Protein Hydrolysate, Whey Protein Hydrolysate, Ionic Whey Protein…along with all the EAAs and leucine. plus creatines, no2s, glutamine, caffeine, etc.
and theyve got 0g carbs so its AD approved muhah ![]()
