Well I guess the proof is in the diet but man this AD thing rocks to repeat not just myself but everyone on here.
Did my BF and all that today and after 5 weeks I’m up 6 pounds of muscle and my BF has stayed the same so I am so happy and never looked or felt better.

What are your guys thoughts on having too few carbs during weekdays… Say 15 grams or lower per day? Could that be counter productive? Do you think its better to stay around the 25gram mark?
MAF14 is right. If you drop below 25-30 carbs a day you’ll probably get into ketosis… Not optimal. It is individual, however, most will fall in that range.
i forget exactly what i said but i dont think staying at 20 grams per day will automatically put you into keto… depends oh a bunch of things i believe (level of activity, how “well” the weekend load went, etc)

A question for any of you who counts their calories…when ground beef is cooked I usually drain the grease. I’m not expert in this but I’m assuming that’s a lot of fat being drained away? Or is it not significant enough to worry about.
The reason I’m asking is because ground beef does contain a lot of fat and if a good portion of it is indeed drained away in those grease … then I’m miscalculating a good chunk of my fat and caloric intake.
Bump for a answer to this. I also pan fry 80/20, then strain it and put into containers. Any ideas guys?
two options i guess
1)either dont drain it and keep the fat
2)you could take the excess fat and measure it a couple times then you will now how much fat is coming off and you can adjust your cals accordingly ( you’ll prob get a few different measurements but i would just take the average after a couple times)

Yah, that was a little extreme huh… I should of put the phrase “higher chance of” in that post.

yah, i know what you meant i didnt mean to nit pick but just putting it out there
Thanks for posting the links James. Aside from his quote on Ketosis there was a ton of info. How about baseball players using Andro to cover the real steroids they were using.
Or how about his note regarding his observation of an increase in triglycerides as carb in-take increased??? So interesting…
Thanks for the comments regarding eating too few carbs. That was my worry, that having too few carbs will put me into ketosis. I’ll add in more veggies and nuts and stay above 20 grams carbs a day.
BAD NEWS - I just had my blood work done after being on the AD for around 8 weeks now.
My cholestrol (total) shot up from 140 to 201 - which is now borderline high (I have always had very low levels)
And My Trigliceride level is now at 180 which is too high. (I cant remember my previous level, but it was in the normal range)
Any suggestions? I guess I will have to abandon the AD diet. I know that for many people the AD diet improves those numbers, but for a smaller % it has a negative impact. I guess I am one of the unlucky ones who is negatively impacted. Anyway, hopefully you are all doing your bloodwork on the regular.
Just a side note - my fats come from EVO, nuts, cheese, cream, beef, pork… No ‘bad’ fats. I have stuck to the AD to the T with awesome results and amazing energy… I really dont want to stop, but I think I dont really have a choice…

No problem. There is alot of intreating info in those interviews for sure…

I’ve always been a fan of healthy fats after reading John Meadow’s article. Not all animal fats are equal due to the way they were raised. Grass-fed beef holds better fat over the one’s we usually get at the groceries…same with eggs. Obviously I can’t afford a diet with expensive beef like that but I tried to minimize my fat intake from beef in general…most of my fat I get from eggs and fish. Not saying I completely rid myself of fat from beef but I just minimize it. Instead i add a lot of EVOO, fish oils, PB, coconut oil, and red palm oil to the diet. **Coconut oil has been shown to lower LDL and increase HDL
I haven’t posted anything on the AD in like forever, but August will be 5 years of lipid adapted living. Haven’t followed the science really or done anything different or new in a very long time either. I know what to and not to eat and I’m actually not nearly as fanatical about keeping cho microscopically low anymore like I used to be.
I stay adapted and don’t let myself gain much more than a healthy pinch around my navel. (old guy ya know). If I had to guess I’d say I probably get 300 or so grams during the week with no real measurement day by day. None of that is very helpful or revolutionary, but I’m still doin it.

Tiribulus! Great to see you posting. I feel like I know you from reading the old threads. Good to hear AD is working long term for you.
I’ve been on for about five years as well. I love it. Tasty, easy to follow, healthy. The longer I’m on, the more forgiving things get. Early on, if I went over 30 CHO, I felt it. I’d get bloated, retain water etc. Especially the next day, I’d still notice it. Now I can fudge things occasionally, and it is fine. I also find my weekend carb-ups can be smaller and I will still have plenty of energy throughout the week. But conversely, I can do huge carb-ups with candy and other crappy foods and still look tight by Wednesday. I like to say I don’t follow the Anabolic Diet, I live an Anabolic Life. But that is kinda gay.
Hey guys, check this shit out. I belong to a weight loss group and this one idiot piped up with this remark. He’s replying to a friend of mine that is also on the AD but she’s not managing it as well as she should and is having a little trouble getting use to it so he chimed in with this.
“glenr79: you are only losing muscle and bone right now with your low carb diet. Your body is having to take the protein from your muscle to convert it to glucose for energy… Once you have lost the muscle and bone then you won’t lose any more on your low carb diet… your blood is about to have way too many ketones in it making it highly acidic.”
Can you believe this dude? I’m sitting here reading the AD book as I type and it just makes me wonder where guys like glen get their info from.
I haven’t put on much weight in the last four weeks, but that is hard when you weight train 4x a week + mma 3x. However, I’ve been putting on muscle and losing fat. I even have veins on my traps now, yeah!
Definitely a diet to stay on in the future. This weekend’s carb up has been going very well too!
Been slakin the last 2 weeks. Not so good on the old AD or weight program. Im going to re-boot with the 12 day start up at 15x norm bodyweight. Probably do high intensity conditioning work W-W-F & 5-3-1 Program M-TH… Been eating too much crap and goofin off at pool w kids time to get back at it. Any of yall ever try something besides Ad for shedding fat fast

Look into Rob Faigins Natural Hormone Enhancement. It has alot of the same AD concepts. I’ve never tried it bit I’ve heard that it works faster than AD.

James, is that just a way to get lean quick versus diet lifestyle plan like AD?
I’m pumped, I had a great workout today. I started week 13 of the SH Complexes and added 5 lbs to my OHP and 10lbs to my Push Press and couldve add 5 more probably. I finished a solid 6 sets on top of that. Can’t wait to bench and deadlift tomorrow.
