Anabolic Diet

Has anyone had their blood work checked while on the AD diet??? Results?

  • I think I will have this done

Just had to get mine done for work. Its all in Korean so I can’t really tell what everything is but it does distinguish HDL and LDL cholesterol, my HDL is about 20 points above average and my LDL is 33 points below average, blood pressure is perfect, Triglycerides are normal, and liver is perfectly healthy. Which is saying a lot because when I first got here my liver had was secreting something, my coteacher could never quite explain but said to only worry about it if I started feeling sick.

Oh - I think I get a free check up this month from my school too… works out perfectly. If I did this in the UK it would be very expensive… Gotta love Korea! I bought 1kg of american beef from e-mart today, then made it into 6 burger patties… that’s my lunch for the week, topped with cheese and one or two pieces of lettuce. Also, I’m going to start eating a lot more duck. Not too expensive from e-mat, and obviously a good fatty meat source…

When are you heading home? Were you here for one year or longer?

Heading home August 25th, just a one year contract. 12 months is enough Korea for me, I just discovered the beauty of big blocks of frozen samgyupsal yesterday. Over 2 kilograms for about 21,000 won, and it is delicious and perfect for adding calories. How much was your beef?

Beef was 1300 won/ 100 grams… Also, when you make the big hamburger patty you can add in some veggies - so then you have everything you need, topped with cheese, that’s what i take to school for lunch.

This is my second year here. I think I will stay a long time - but mainly because my girlfriend is Korean. And my job is piss easy. And in Gwangju, you can save huge amounts of cash… Life is too easy! haha

Funny observation on AD: I spend the whole week looking forward to the weekend carb up, then I spend the whole carb up looking forward to steak and eggs… What a great cycle.

How long do you guys carb load for?

I start Sat afternoon, and finish Sunday afternoon. (maybe 28 hours total)

I don’t really enjoy my carbups anymore, I feel great M-F then after about my third carb meal I need to take a break from them and resume on Sunday or just plain skip it and have one when I feel i need it.

Yeah, I find that on Monday morning I feel like death after carbing on the weekend. My eyes are red and I feel like I have a cold. But I am super strong in the gym! I feel best from Wed to Fri. I look forward to Pizza, but after 3 carb meals I also jump back onto whey and cream or meat… The thing I enjoy most on the weekend is drinking tea with honey and milk. haha

2.5kg over the weekend. I was a bit lazy on Sunday, but it went quite well.

I feel fully energized and ready to have an awesome squat session today.

I totally look forward to my carb-up days; it really gives me somthing to look forward to on the weekends. Although come Sunday evening I’m looking forward to going back to low carb.

Absolutely… I hit a point where I have no want for any type of carb on Sundays, normally when I hit the 1000g CArb mark for the whole load. Which is around 3pm. I normally eat some meat/eggs at 6pm.

Had free lunch today at work. I guess it was my lucky day because they had a spread that included brisket and sausage. I got some wierd looks walking away from the line with a mountain of meat… Some how those looks made my day.

lucky SOB… god i hate eating 1800 cals a day

Someone mentioned the quality of sleep that results from this diet. It is truly amazing. I might even give up ZMA.

As an observation, I have noticed a rise in testosterone/aggression. Last carb up, I day dreamed / envisioned getting in a fight and tearing this dude to pieces. At two separate times that day. Needless to say I had a good day in the gym as well.

Strength has also had a nice positive slope through out.

I have definatly noticed that I wake up easier. I don’t have that ā€œI hate this shitā€ mentality when I wake up anymore. In the beginning I had issues with falling to sleep, however, I found out that was due to the increased power of stimulants on AD.

Hey Everyone:

This AD thing is really rocking and I love the whole process.

Question: Getting mixed reports as to when you can add the mid week carb spike? As you know I’m a PL and we train high volume (well at least I do lol - works wonders!) and I was thinking of doing a mid week carb spike after my training on Wednesdays for lunch then back to the norm as I have a very heavy training session on Fridays but I have only been on the AD for 3 weeks now.

Any suggestions?

Holding steady at about 3400 cals a day and results are amazing!!!

Truthfully, I would suggest waiting atleast 2-4 months before adding a large modification such as mid week carbup. Wait till you know for a fact that you are fat adapted, and know how your body reacts to specific carboydrates. You are essentially correcting a life time of not using fat for your primary fuel source. Hence, it will take time to ā€œget in the grove.ā€

Granted I make this suggestion based on my reading of AD, AS, and 170+ (still woking on reaching 360) pages of the original AD thread from 2006 with the long time ADer ā€œDHā€ leading the charge. I am by no means an ā€œexpert.ā€

1,800 calories? Holy crap dude, how much do you weigh? What factor times your bodyweight are you using? Just for curiosity.

I’m on TRT also and lately I’ve been feeling that way and I’m not sure if it’s the HCG dose they started me on or the diet. I spend the weekend on the Vegas Strip for a staycation and at night I was walking around with my wife looking for some asshole to bump into me and start some shit. It’s crazy.

ehh. i dont use a factor x BW calculation… my thyroid is fucked up (hypo) so my metabolism is slower than most

i go from 220-215 from the beginning to the end of the week. 5’11"

probably 15-20% body fat

been doing AD with 1 day carb ups for the last 5 months and was gaining fat anywhere above 2000 cals per day… fucking blows
