Nice of you to visit!

He gets eggs and sausage every morning. I can cook those in my sleep. And I did this morning as a matter of fact.

Power rack yes. Wouldn’t attempt it otherwise. Too Chicken.

The guy on the left is Isaac Berger, Olympic Champion in O-lifting Lightweight class. On the right is Norbert Schemansky, Olympic Heavyweight Champion O-lifter in his own right. Schemansky had the Russians totally cowed during his medal runs.

Those were the days. I think I was just getting born when they were in their heydey.

Just did some checking about those seated overheads you’re doing…let’s review shall we?

5.8.08…push press @ 165 x 4 then…
10.14.08…seated press @ 225 x 3…Am I wrong, or is that some pretty nice progress guys? I think that it is. Good job, great job, keep it up.

Thanks Z.

I can’t believe anyone was interested enough to go back and check on that stuff. Even I haven’t gone back and checked. Kind of you to go and do that.

181 lbs totally nekkid and after taking a dump.

This is without having any sort of morning meal but coffee and only taking two mass-gainers shake a day.

I gotta have oatmeal with the eggs and sausage in the mornings. I want to quit using protein for fuel and have my body use the carbs instead. It’s taking it’s toll though. Joints are hurting more often and skin tone is not good. Face is puffy due to the incipient inflammation. Worth it to me to get the PRs.

This encourages me to eat breakfast and have another shake per day. Gotta start adding peanut butter and banana to it though.

Been downing lots of kefir and liquid yogurts. I love that stuff. The Quik-Stop store down the street is also carrying these Met-Rx protein bars. 30 grams of protein and 300 calories. They taste like a mix of chocolate and horse apples, but they are filling. I actually like them.

Gonna keep this eating up till I get to 185, take a breather and then push on to 190. The way things are going I might hit my goal poundages by 185. May not need to get to 190.

When you get your nutrition as focused as your training you will be unstoppable.

Skid, you and I have the opposite problem. I could easily weigh 300 lbs. I’m doing the low carb thing trying to drop to 242lbs.

That’s nice of you to say 1Geech.

All may now refer to me as “His Not-Quite-Unstoppable-Yet-ness.”

I would trade you body types any time if it didn’t mean I was accusing the Lord of having made a mistake.

Two sad things:

  1. The above (my part) is not really funny

  2. I’m quoting myself.

These last few post always remind me of the difference between the body types. Overweight types always wish they had the problem of the hardgainer and vise versa.

It causes me to pause, that you know how chocolate and horse apples taste. I think I’m bothered less that you actually like them!

You are correct-o-mundo.

skid-- you going full ROM with the seated press? I need to work on my first 3-4" off my chest for vertical presses. If I can get the bar to about my nose, I can usually get the rep.

It depends on how I’m doing them. The last few months I’ve been doing heavy (for me) partial range of motion at two heights on the seated press: at the nose and at the forehead or eyebrows. This is then followed by a full range of motion overhead press for high reps.

Since I’m doing OHP’s to actually help my bench I’m not too concerned with going full ROM on OHP’s, but I’m finding that there’s a significant amount of carry-over. My full ROM OHP is going up anyway.

Every other week is a high rep shoulder circuit to try and keep the joint healthy, but I’ve started a 3 week rotation of heavy partials+high rep, a 3x5 Standing full ROM as heavy as possible and then the high rep shoulder circuit. Shoulders are holding up so far, but only time will tell.

I think the total amount of work has been too high and I may need to cut back on Assistance day as I’m not recovering completely between sessions, even though I’m still making progress.

Maybe it’s only little boys that engage in daring each other to do really stupid stuff like tasting road apples, but it bought me a lot of “brave man” capital in my little gang when I was ten.

That’s what I’ve been missing? First the bathroom, THEN the scale. That might be the edge that I’ve been looking for.
