Thanks for the Breakdown ID.

I like this interview thing. Can you give me some insight into this song as well:

I can feel it coming in the air tonight, Oh Lord
I’ve been waiting for this moment, all my life, Oh Lord
Can you feel it coming in the air tonight, Oh Lord, Oh Lord

Well, if you told me you were drowning
I would not lend a hand
I’ve seen your face before my friend
But I don’t know if you know who I am
Well, I was there and I saw what you did
I saw it with my own two eyes
So you can wipe off the grin, I know where you’ve been
It’s all been a pack of lies

And I can feel it coming in the air tonight, Oh Lord
I’ve been waiting for this moment for all my life, Oh Lord
I can feel it in the air tonight, Oh Lord, Oh Lord
And I’ve been waiting for this moment all my life, Oh Lord, Oh Lord

Well I remember, I remember don’t worry
How could I ever forget, it’s the first time, the last time we ever met
But I know the reason why you keep your silence up, no you don’t fool me
The hurt doesn’t show; but the pain still grows
It’s no stranger to you or me

And I can feel it coming in the air tonight, Oh Lord…
LOL!

ID, do you have a pocket version of yourself for those of us who would benefit from your wisdom on a daily basis? Like a Manwee or … oh, actually Manwee doesn’t sound right at all let’s try that again…

Like a Wee Manlet or something? =D
LOL!

Well, when someone of authority asks you for your ID… there you have it.

IH its Edgy is that even possible?
ANYTHING is possible! You just have to BELIEVE…

Thank you, I now have a better understanding of our attempts to rise above our station in life, and that in the end, it is meaningless. this is depressing, however insightful.

Now.

another perplexing song is RJD’s Holy Diver.

can you please explain the song title and the lesson that we can all learn from this?

lyrics:

Holy Diver
You’ve been down too long in the midnight sea
Oh what’s becoming of me

Ride the tiger
You can see his stripes but you know he’s clean
Oh don’t you see what I mean

Gotta get away
Holy Diver

Shiny diamonds
Like the eyes of a cat in the black and blue
Something is coming for you

Race for the morning
You can hide in the sun 'till you see the light
Oh we will pray it’s all right

Gotta get away-get away

Between the velvet lies
There’s a truth that’s hard as steel
The vision never dies
Life’s a never ending wheel

Holy Diver
You’re the star of the masquerade
No need to look so afraid

Jump on the tiger
You can feel his heart but you know he’s mean
Some light can never be seen

Holy Diver
You’ve been down too long in the midnight sea
Oh what’s becoming of me

Ride the tiger
You can see his stripes but you know he’s clean
Oh don’t you see what I mean

Gotta get away
Holy Diver

I have been focusing on RJd as I know you have an affinity for this Artist, and will move on from there to other artist as you will allow.

Great band. Great song.

Is there going to be some serious Q and A?
It’s all in the riff dude.

It’s funny, friends of mine went to see Rainbow many years ago in HS. Everyone went to see Rainbow, not the backup band, however when all was said and done the backup band blew Rainbow off the stage. That band was The Scorpions.
I’m not surprised. Klaus Mein has an amazing voice.

I was a big Scorps fan in the 80’s.

What album were they promoting? Do you remember?

LOL.

He alluded to the book of Revelations with the imagery. Funny how an atheist gets material from the Bible. lol

Lucifer was an angel who wanted to be bigger than God. He was cast out of Heaven… thrown into the sea (Earth) to live as Satan. Dio uses this as a context to which he expresses how we use religion to define good and evil. Sometimes the line between them is blurred.

WTF are we doing? Seriously, I skimmed all of this and need some short answers.

Question for ID:

Do you or do you not like Motorhead? Motorhead - Love me Like a Reptile - YouTube

Are you suggesting that good and evil exist only in the environment outlined by the bible, or religion in general?

can evil exist without good, and vice versa?

HELLS YEAH!

Even back in the 80’s when I totally rejected hair metal in favor of punk, Motorhead was STILL one of the few metal bands worth keeping.

It was 80’ I believe so maybe it was to promote Animal Magnetism. I saw them in Toronto on the Blackout tour so it wasen’t that one. I swear I never saw a band work harder to keep the energy going, Schenker never stopped hamming it up on stage lol.

ID Question:

Who do you believe has the best voice in metal? For Example, I think the guy from Iron Maiden is pretty damn good. And I’m not even a Maiden fan.

Good and Evil as domains run by specific entities exist to some people. Others just believe that bad things happen to good people, and it’s just a toss of the dice.

Living in one with at least the knowledge of the other is necessary.

The color orange is still orange even if it were impossible to see blue (its compliment). It’s just that the intensity and contrast of its hue is more apparent when juxtaposed with its compliment.

Animal Magnetism was the last of the good albums put out by Scorps - I was a fan until Blackout, then I lost the faith.

the first Five, Lonesome Crow, Fly to the Rainbow, In Trance, Taken by Force, and Virgin Killer were by far the best of the Scorpions, I believe that it had to be the influence of both Micheal Schenker and Uli Roth. Both had left the band afterwards, and the band was never able to reach the level of creativity and soul that they had originally.

of course, they did go on to make GADS of money after that, but that’s another story~

after this one sentance, is there any wonder why I hold this man in such high regard.

Yeah, Bruce Dickinson had an amazing voice.

IMHO, the best metal singers would possess great vocal range, timbre, presence, tone, and phrasing. That’s not to say someone like Lemmy (Motorhead) wasn’t a great metal singer. He just doesn’t represent the quintessential metal voice. More punk in fact.

In no particular order, my top metal singers (without regard for their bands) are:

Ronnie James Dio
Robert Plant
Geoff Tate
Rob Halford
Bruce Dickinson
Chris Cornell (Soundgarden era)
Nils K. Roo (Pagan’s Mind)

Edgy, I wish I was in Cali. That is all.

I would love to stick with metal, but…

ID Question: Who do you prefer between Frank Frazetta and Boris Vallejo? And why?

And if you dislike or don’t know of either, fuck you and I’ll leave the thread.

Falling in Love is my favourite Scorps tune, love that riff.

FYI folks, not to hi-jack this thread but here is a link to new Led Zepp footage(Kashmir) I found on Guitarworld.com, I think it should be ID approved. Bonham is, what can you say…

Question ID: Have you ever taught art to young kids like at a local library? I know you’re busy but I think you’d be great at it.

I love this question! Frazetta was a huge influence on my own art AND my lifting pursuits as a teen.

Although both artists were great painters who understood human anatomy very well, it was Frazetta who possessed the ability to truly show an action moment frozen in time. His painting style was more robust… which reflected the action of the scene portrayed. His knowledge of anatomy gave his figures a convincing volume and physicality.

Boris, on the other hand was more of a technician. He accurately rendered the physique in fine brushstrokes and great finesse. However, his scenes were based on poses of the models he hired in his studio, or photos he took. Not a bad thing, but Boris was a slave to what he saw before him, and not as much on what he knew. For example, in a scene where the true action called for a figure to be pushing forward, he would show the muscles of the OPPOSITE action flexed as well.

Both great in their own ways, but I choose Frazetta.
