American Gladiators

The handbike was always tough, even when it was at the beigining and it they were not wet. The barrell roll is just stupid IMO.

O’Hearn (Titan)is not your typical bodybuilder. Even though I mentioned earlier that I thought he was gay, he does have an extremely hot wife (Mideaya sp?)and he is a black belt in a few martial arts, and was a successful powerlifter when he was natural. I am sure he isn’t natural anymore, but he is agile and flexible. It looks like they have gone for more athletic gladiators (thus, smaller) and have had to take smaller contestants to prevent them from getting embarassed.

The eliminator is a bitch. These are young, pretty in shape people doing it and it is killing them.
I think the difficulty of the cargo net may be underestimated. Something is killing their legs.
And what the hell was that dolphin kick that first goof was doing???

It’s G-L-A-D-I-A-T-O-R-S, not gladitors.[/quote]

I’m an idiot thanks for pointing it out.

I found it entertaining. I sure don’t like how the elimantor is pretty much pure cardio. There should be a time penalty for falling off the log/hand bike as it seems faster to just fake the fall (which both the females on Monday seemed to do.) Some of the gladiators look like they need more practice on the events. I watched the very first episodes of the original awhile ago and it was much of the same. They seemed to get better at it later after the show had been going for awhile.

Mike O’hearn (Titan) is a strong dude from what I’ve heard. He has loaded 300+lb stones without tacky squatted 760x2 and deadlifted 800 raw with no belt. He tore up the Gladiator try outs doing 36 pullups in 30 seconds and ran a 4.9 40!

So yea the dude is an athlete.

What a bunch of crap. Old school American Gladiators pwns this show.

Gina Carano = sell out

can we take a minute to appreciate the fact that atleast its something besides another damn game show or reality show.

For fucks sake, one of the top shows on television right now is basically a person picking a damn number(Deal or No Deal).

Ive got a fantastic pilot for ya, im gonna put a twenty dollar bill in one of my hands, you have to pick which one, if you pick right you get the money, if you pick wrong, i kick you in the nuts… that seems good enough for FOX at least.

Even if it has a its cheesetastic moments, im just thankful to see something different on tv.

On the other hand, the fact that the celebrity apprentice show has replaced the Office and Scrubs… now that pisses me off.

OK, I know this ain’t right, but I’ve been thinking this through so I’m going to say it anyways.

They need to really consider replacing some of the uglier gladiators (notice I didn’t say less photogenic, I’m speaking in real talk venacular so there is no need to sugar coat the truth). And make no mistake some of the girls don’t look hot at all. Stealth’s nose gives her all types of problems, so does Fury’s forehead and high hairline. And Helga is jacked the fuck up and from some of the interviews I’ve seen her in, she has a voice the ranges close to manly.

Gina is obviously going to stay and much like alot of people on this board, I think that Valerie (Siren) is fine as hell. Venom could also stay as well. This is like a baseball team-just cut out the nucleus that doesn’t work, keep the ones with star potential and build around them. They could draft some fitness model or Figure hotties to fill the other slots (Jelena Abbou would be a perfect gladiator). I know this isn’t politically correct, but I think others were feeling the same way.

I must’ve missed where anyone was complaining about the appearance of the female Gladiators.

The Gladiators are doing okay (outside of Helga in Gauntlet, she looked like a hippo trying to catch a fly), it’s the contestants that suck.

Also, as far as the female gladiators go, they’re damn near supermodels as a whole compared to the original.

Do people really watch Deal or No Deal? I tried to watch it a couple of times, but the fact that they could do the show in 10 minutes instead of 1 hour kept pissing me off and I had to change the channel. Plus the host looks like a penis with an out-of-place patch of hair.

Kroc pull ups?

It was in 30 seconds so no they where not the strictest…

Still impressive.

This is the very reason we are complaining about the show!

They had a great idea and brought back a great show that showcases the contestants athleticism, but they have turned it into just another reality show. Athleticism was obviously not very high on the list of qualifications for contestants. It should be about the only thing that matters.

Do you know how many real athletes they must have turned away? Even if they find a good athlete that has the personality that they want for the show, they would be forced to turn them away because that contestant would dominate too much.

From what I have heard they did the same thing in the original. They turned people who where over 200 away for being to big, etc.

A 4.9 40 is a Gladiator RECORD?? Shit, maybe I should have tried out…

And yeah, definitely not the strictest pull-ups. That was some intense pelvic thrusting going on.

I was impressed. He is 6’3" and 250+#'s knocked off 36 kipping pullups.

I’m listening to a DC radio station interview with Siene Silva and she says that they only show some events on the show that the contestants actually do, due to the editing process.

-She stated that people aren’t allowed to dive into the water.

Siene Silva:

The interview:

At the end she says she might be moving to LA, so female winner/new gladiator?

While I’m not going to say 35 pullups in 30 seconds isnt athletic, yeah, they werent strict.

I mean, they even looked retarded.

I am sure he could do a good amount of pullups if there wasn’t a stupid 30 second time restriction.

Isnt it kinda weird that a majority of the guys on this site that have been training for a while wouldnt make it as contestants because they are too big?

Maybe ill just try out as a gladiator here in a couple years when im a bit bigger.
