American Gladiators

The show was at least mildy entertaining. The hosts sucked and so did the contestants for the most part.

Any yes, Crush is definately a reason to tune in again next week.

“she’s showing some signs of a bloody forehead…”

What the hell was that? Showing some signs? Like…the blood on her forehead?

I liked the events, but there was WAY too much talking. I don’t want to know everything the contender is thinking the whole time. I want to see the damn competition. The small talk before and after each event was just a waste of time.

They also don’t need to make things seem so dramatic. A good competition would provide enough drama on its own. The extra stuff just makes me change the channel until the next event starts. Oh, and I hate when they go to commercial right when it looks like they’re about to start. I had a feeling they would try to use that annoying Deal or No Deal formula for wasting time.

I just got to say I never laughed harder then when the asian doctor pulled off the comeback vs the black chick. This show is so bad its pretty funny, and yeah crush is amazing.

I wanted to kick the producers in their collective nuts for that. Although I guess if they had any testosterone in their bodies they would realize how bad they fucked up.

If someone makes a legit “gameshow” or competition where real athletes compete against other real athletes, and some “house guys” ---- and do in a stadium or something - I see it gaining more momentum than this season of gladiators. Just hire some NCAA football players who aren’t getting pro contracts. There has to be some guys who are explosive and big who may just not have the skill there.

Whoever said that they had issues with the current in-house male gladiators, I have to severely disagree with you. I would rather see guys who are 6’6" with some athletic ability, and some athletic training than a bodybuilder who may have “better developed legs.” You can hardly even tell the difference on TV. You make a good point, but I think they chose good gladiators for what they’re trying to do. If they had real athletes, these guys would be getting burned on probably everything but the pyramid. That event looked pretty impossible unless the gladiator fucks up.

And the eliminator? Seriously? It’s horrendous to watch. There’s a reason they had the treadmill/escalator thing at the beginning last time, then the handbikes like right after it. And they didn’t need a fucking ROPE to get up the damn thing!

Assault? I didn’t think you could fuck it up, but they did. Hide the arrow in a sandbox that’s like out in the open… are you kidding me? It didn’t look like to me either contestant got to practice assault… one of them didn’t even get to find the button on the damned turret!

Someone asked about secure and conquer or something… I doubt that event is coming back, no matter how awesome it was. I can’t see the executives doing that when they have earthquake and the gauntlet which are both similar.

One last thing… the referee getting in that one guy’s face. Who the hell are you??? He didn’t punch him in the face (even though you accused him of it)… relax.

Okay, I say we all pool our money together to send Tedro to Cali for tryouts! Ill lay down the first $20. Whose with me?

We need to send at least one T-member to show um how its done ;D

Thanks B-3, but I don’t think I am flamboyant enough for NBC!

Ill coach you on personality baby, you just get that fine ass out there and show um how its done T-STYLE!!!

I think earlier in this thread somebody said that during the tryout process you have to carry a video camera around with you and record a typical day in your life.

Once I get passed the athletic portion of the tryout I’ll hit you up to help me with the video ;).

Me. You. A video camera. Ahhhhhhh!!!

I’m sorry, but what’s the deal with the biggest competitor being 5’11, 205? Are they afraid one of their precious Gladiators might have to break a sweat at some point? I mean, every Gladiator (male) is 6’3" or taller, and well over 200 pounds. Some of these ‘competitors’ are a joke: 5’8", 150, 5’9", 165…are you kidding me? Granted, they don’t want the Gladiators to be shown up, especially in their first season back with the show. But at least make it interesting, get some 6’, 220 lb. Marine, or a 6’1", 220 lb. D1 linebacker. I’m not watching the show to see little men crushed, I’m watching it to see some legitimate competition.

And beautiful women…let’s not forget that. But they’re not lacking in that department, so I’m not even going to go there.

9) The female gladiator, Crush, is absolutely stunning. If I watch that show again, she might be the sole reason why.

Can’t wait until Crush and Siene Silva duke it out, preferably on Earthquake:

Hot damn! A female powerlifter/arm wrestler/gymnast?? I call champion right there.

Shit, I bet she’d win competing amongst the male ‘contestants’ as well.

Okay, so on my way to work this morning, “Titan” was interviewed on a local radio show. The results:

-Apparently the show is now going to be on Mondays at 8pm EST. As in, tonight. I wasn’t aware of this, and it sort of sucks, since I work until 8pm on Mondays. Fuckers.

-Titan actually seems like a reasonably cool, funny guy. A far cry from his obnoxiously arrogant, and somewhat homo-erotic persona on the show.

-During the 2nd part of last nights episode, with the annoying old guy contestant with the surprisingly hot wife, competing in Gauntlet where the ref stepped in: Apparently there was quite a bit of footage they cut out in production, where Titan nearly beat the living shit out of that contestant. Awesome, but it sucks they didn’t show it, that would’ve been the best part of that 2 hours.

-Titan claims that somebody breaks their leg in Powerball tonight. Sort of cool, in a masochistic sort of way.

Crush, aka Gina Carano, is a hottie.

On the guys’ side, you gotta love Wolf. What a character!

I agree with all of you. The only thing I can add is that it is the first run through for the Gladiators so there is a learning curve I mean with the televised competitions. The contestants were narrowed down from previous heats of competition were they not? I would think the Gladiators would of fine tuned their craft, maybe I’m wrong however some of the Gladiators looked off their game for sure. Mayhem on the Joust, pathetic he would make the same mistake 2x in row stepping on the other’s platform. Justice seemed to improve as things moved along. However Hellga let the contestants rip past her IMO. These Gladiators overall don’t seem that intimidating as the ones in the past, maybe it’s me however the current crop of contestants made the 2 hour premier look like an asskicking to the Gladiators. I’m watching it tonight and I hope to see some improvement on the Gladiators.

P.S. Being able to “toss” the ball in the baskets is lame.

P.P.S. Perhaps the contestants are not allowed to dive into the water for the eliminator, something the commentator should advise (the viewers) because that would have been my first tactic to try.

Holy shit, Gina Carano found something she can make weight for.

The baskets are wider at the top now. You could always toss them in before, but it was very difficult as the course was larger and the basket tops were smaller.

I watched the English version of this when I was like 12. It was fucking lame. The only time I was mildly entertained was when they did a celeb version and had some pro footballers and rugby players competing. Other than that it was pretty mindless. I’d rather watch real sport.

This was on the NBC message board:

Looks like their casting sucks… but tell me something I didn’t know.

Ruby Roz got big.

Did they call it “English Gladiators”?

Hahahaha…I had to find my password just to sign in and give you a high five for that one.

So my dream didn’t come true, but seeing both of them go at it one-on-one was just as good. Gina sure knows how to use that stick.

I’m cheering for Siene Silva to win it all, just so I can see her again. And because I’m sure she’ll get wet again.
