That’s one of the funniest things I’ve seen in a while. Still, I loved the old American Gladiators and will be giving the new show a try, although I have a feeling it won’t live up to my high expectations.
Freaking loved that show growing up. I always wanted to play the game where they wore the bungle harnesses and tried to grab the foam balls from up by the ceiling. Looked fun as hell.

I know that Mike O’Hearn is a new gladiator. He was a Weider posterboy back in the early '90s, natural and supposadly gay.
From what I can tell, he is not natural anymore.
“Gladiator names include: Hammer, Justice, Mayhem, Militia, Titan, Toa, and Wolf on the men’s side, with Blast, Crush, Fury, Helga, Siren, Stealth, and Venom being the names of the female Gladiators.”

I thought much the same so I investigated, Robin Coleman former competitor in Worlds Strongest Women!
The tryouts to be a contestant/gladiator are long over.
In fact, I believe they finish taping the first season this week.
I tried out in September.
The physical tryout consisted of 3 parts:
pullups- as many as possible in 30 secs
Squat thrusts/ladder run/shuttle runs- timed
40 yard dash
The 3 parts took place consecutively with almost no rest in between them.
Immediately following the 40 yard dash you meet with a producer who is trying to ensure that you have a personality.
The following day I received a call setting up a filmed interview at NBC studios.
Once again they wanted to see your “amazing” personality.
After the interview, the producer told me to make a 5-10 min videotape showing what a typical day of my life looks like. This was a major pain in the ass.
I made the tape showing my friends, job, working out etc.
A month passed and I heard nothing so I figured I was out of the running…but then I received a call from a producer asking for MORE footage.
I sent in another tape and then never heard anything after.
I hate the fact that the home videos play such a huge role in determining the contestants. I feel I was penalized for not being a film major. The producers also give almost no direction as to what to film…They simply said things like show us “You”.
I guess “I” wasn’t cool enough!
