I’ve been dieting down using a simple carb cycling approach. I aim for 50g protein for every meal. 1st meal 50g carbs and next 4 meals 10g fat. I do take 50g carb /50g fat peri workout. So give or take the workout nutrition it ranges from 1600 cals to 1800 cals. I read labels and look up food I don’t know as well as measure out everything.
I’ve been doing this for a long time even when not dieting down. I downloaded an app on my Iphone to keep track of daily calories so I don’t have to do all the math. It has every food I eat including carb drinks and protein shakes. Usually the food is under a generic name or random brand , but I figure it has to be pretty close.
Here is what I’m supposed to eat today
100g Carb
300g Protein
40g Fat
Here is what the iphone App calculated from what I entered.
170g Carbs
325g Protein
75g Fat
If this is accurate it puts me almost 800 calories over my previous estimate. That puts me back up to almost maintenance calories and would stop the fat loss.
I know the foods I’m eating are still a little cleaner than what it estimates but a gram here and a gram there adds up. Anyone know how accurate these type of food logs are?
