Alternative Protein Source

Well Today at almost 5 PM I learned through my DR. that I am allergic to milk and eggwhites < Note very allergic to egg whites> OK I have been using both of these as a primary protein in my diet and I have chrinic nasal issues wich is what prompted the blood test after having a bout with pneumonia.

What are some other choices for protein that do not contain milk or milk products or egg whites?? I know the usual meats fish beef pork chicken. Are the Protein powders safe?? This is a very perplexing issue for me as i have relied on these two staples heavily. I want quality protein with out breaking the bank.
I also wonder if my allergies could have prevented gains that I could have made if I would have used a different source of protein?

Any help is appreciated… I am open to anything but soy.
I was eating 5 doz eggs whole a week and drinking a half gallon of 2% milk a day in addition to other protein sources such as red kidney beans wich I love.

               Thanks in advance
                      Donnie

Ouch. Sorry to hear about that, man.
Other good protein sources are nuts and beans - can’t exactly go wrong with those.
Not really sure about powders - check the label of whatever you’re currently using to see if it contains lactose(may be responsible for triggering the allergies).

You’ve got a problem if lactose isn’t what’s causing you trouble, as whey, casein, and egg protein (featured ingredients in many powders) are all extracted from the things you’re allergic to, and could be the culprits.

I’d say find out exactly what ingredient in milk you’re allergic to, start eating more nuts/beans and observe your reaction to your current protein powder. If problems persist, then try to find one that doesn’t contain the allergen.

Pureed Chicken
Pureed Beef

Or some nuts I spose…

Well I didnt think of pureed meats … hmmm with some digestive enzymes it would be alot quicker and well I would absorb much more.
I want 200 - 300 grams a day If you think about it and divide it up it should be pretty easy.

If you turn out to be allergic to lactose then then whey isolate/hydrolized whey is possibly an option.

With those large quantities of said foods its possible you developed these allergies. 5 dozen eggs a week is a LOT. Alot of sources say that overeating certain things can lead to food allergies so maybe they will subside after laying off them a while? I dunno but look around there might be some info about it. As for other sources…all I can say is read teh containers.

The place where I buy most of my protein suppliment sells protein powders made from non-dairy sources like hemp and gemma (made from peas). There are alternatives to dairy though.
