Alpha's Work

I find your love of steady state cardio to be interesting. I absolutely loathe cardio unless it is in a competitive environment (such as pick up basketball) and would like to develop the ability to enjoy it. Have you always enjoyed it or is it like disliked food? By that, I mean I used to hate brocolli, but eventually I forced myself to eat so much of it that I developed a taste for it. Is cardio the same way?

Keep on keepin’ on.

Aloha dude!

I have a question for you bro - how much you weighing at the moment? Have you cut sgnificantly? Just because you are still moving up through the weights on every lift, I am wondering if your diet is actually assisting you in gaining strength while shedding the fat?

My diet at the moment is lau lau, burgers, lomi, haupia, and all things good. I reckon a couple more weeks and I might have had enough for a while!

By the way, Waikiki is not too bad. I approve.

Keep busting those records bro!

And you all know how I get a hard-on for running in the rain, so i am out for yet another long steady state through the woods near my house…

lol I didn’t know it was possible. I’m another one that would rather run in the rain or a warm/hot day. Just last Saturday it was raining, thunderstorms in the distance … so I went running.

aut-x-rs: Thanks so much for saying that bro. And I think it is so amazing that this is the first thing that you check when logging on each day! That is so amazing. Again thanks for stopping in and posting bro!

Ciz: Thanks for asking brother. More in-depth answers are give once or twice back in the log, but…

  1. Trying to stay pretty lean while adding Lean body mass
  2. Hungry, but it is what it is…
  3. I have to because of my job
  4. Nope this is simply what I am able to do with my schedule and places I am that day
  5. Nah I’m fine. I can really only think of 1 or 2 times in my entire life that I felt “Overtaxed” - Typically it is only before I start that I feel that way. Once I get going it is all about my mindset…Tat becomes my reality

Thanks for posting some questions brother, i really appreciate it!

Guerilliaen: Man I STILL don’t really like it at all…I think steady state is a LOT easier than other forms, but it is mainly that I only like doing it when it’s raining outside…I just like being out in the weather, the running is just an excuse to be out there! But please don’t be fooled, I hate cardio as much as everyone else! Thanks again bro

Badmf: I think I am right around 225 as usual. And look virtually the same as I do in my previous pics, that’s why I haven’t stuck any new ones up. I am just kind of staying where I am at right now until I decide what my next step is.

And I hope you are still enjoying Hawaii brother! Thanks for taking the time to check in and post!

TheDude: Yea man, i just love being out there in it! Makes the world more intresting for a bit. Tahnks so much fro stopping in bro!

Well I am back from Ocean City, MD…If any of you guys say a big guy body surfing for like 6 hours yesterday around 132nd street, it was me! and now I look like a lobster!!!

But anyway, I am on my way to the Doc to get some tests run and bloodwork drawn…This is all for the brain tumor s hopefully I will know more in a few days…Also am setting up the next MRI which should tell me even more…But the DOc means that I am off work for the day! Yea!

I am going to try to hit the gym later, but it all depends on what news I get and if I have to be with my gilr for a little while after hearing it…we will see…

-Have a good day

Alpha… I am not a religious man, but please know that I (we) are “praying” for you and that you are in my (our) thoughts everyday. I truly hope that everything is ok, and know that we are here for you.

If there is anything we can do for you… don’t hesitate to ask.

Just to let you know… I have 3 sons, aged 19 to 23 years, 2 of which are Military (Reg Force). One was just posted about 2,000 miles away, and the other is leaving shortly as well. I have amassed a book of family photos and quotes for them as a gift, and a large majority of then I have pulled from your log along with excerpts from your “rants”. I call them “reality checks”.

Thanks… for being just you…

Kev

I haven’t logged in or posted in over a year but your thread has brought me out of the wood work so that I could say thanks. This is one of the best threads at TNATION.

It’s got it all - inspirational work ethic, massive lifts, great quotes and rants, and helluva great videos. It’s also refreshing that your humility seems to rival your accomplishments and work ethic.

I hope you find time to continue updating this thread. You’ve said before that you appreciate having people read it so I just wanted to let you know that you have one more regular out here. I’ve read and enjoyed the whole thing!

Sounds like you have a dangerous occupation. Stay safe and thank you for helping the rest of us stay safe.

Alpha,
Driving out 50 with all them lights to OC is a bitch, ain’t it? Keep on keeping on brother! This log is truly high-motivation

Also, best of luck with your test results.

Bunny: I AM and religious man and believe me, your prayers will do more than anything else ever could. and I will be praying for your boys…and just knowing that something i have done could contribute to something to amazing, I am truly blessed and cannot explain how much I appreciate it…Seriously you have made me a very happy guy, and I cannot thank you enough!

New2: Man hearing from guys like yourself are the entire reason why I keep this thing going! Believe me, it is not for my own good! But seriously, thank you so much for checking in and posting this, it means a lot brother! Now that you are out of the wood work stay out and keep posting here, you are more than welcome to stay!

Therizza: You are damn right brother! But I plan on taking at least a few more day trips down this summer for the water, but I just wish my Scottish skin was more conducive to tanning…I have blisters forming right now!

I don’t post much here, but I just wanted to say you are in my thoughts and prayers as well. Your log has been pretty inspiring for me and actually motivated me to start my own log so I can hold myself more accountable. Keep kicking arse man.

This is a great and inspirational log, Alpha. We’ll throw thoughts and prayers your way. Sometimes the best things come from the face of adversity. Best of luck to you. You’re a strong guy, physically and mentally-- that goes a long, long way toward everything good and bad.

Dent: Thanks so much bro…And yeah keep reading down bro, there is a new Squat vid today! Thank God!

Flow: Thanks so much man, and as always, thanks so much for checking in!

JonnyBlaze: Man I think t is so awesome when someone who has been a member for a while gets a new breath of motivation from this thing! I will be following your log bro. Thanks so much for reading and comenting, it means a lot!

SteelyD: Comments like that mean a ton coming from a member such as yourself! I truly do appreciate your complements and thought and prayers.

Notes:

1a. So sunburn be damned! I was at the field office today for work so I had some time to kill so I tried to break some PR’s. I got the 565x1 wich is a 15 lb pr, then I tried to go 6 plates on each side (585) and it nailed me to the ground. I dropped into the hole, and stayed there…But I’m still stoked about the PR!

Squat 565x1

1b. I just worked my way back up to the 160 around the waist again today, but took some more vids so that you guys could get a better look at the range of motion…

Pull ups. BW+160 x 3

1c. i decided to put up an OHP vid of 255x2…I know they were grinded out, but they got up there!

OHP 255x2

Overall:

I’m pretty happy about breaking some more PR’s and I need to go get some more tests done for my brain crap…I’ll keep yall posted, but I personally am not worried about it at all…It is what it is, what is supposed to happen will happen…until then I am going to just keep living my life as fully as I can!

Thanks for checking out and rating the vids! And thanks for reading and commenting!

I need some sleep!

Damn dude, this log never disappoints!

Thanks man, but I haven’t put the time in that a lot of you guys have so I won’t pollute your thread too much with my mediocrity.

Best of luck and dammit keep this log going! It’s one thing to read about someone’s PR’s and work, but to see the videos is valuable for an intermediate like myself who works out solo in his basement.

The folks at Tnation are the only people I’m “around” in my life right now that share my interest in getting considerably stronger.

Congrats on your new PR and best wishes all around.

AWESOME LIFTS!!! KEEP THEM COMING!!!

Man you have an excellent attitude to this health stuff. Doing the best that you can and being in the here and now. It’s the way we should all live our lives…although sometimes it’s easier said than done, but reading logs like this is a good reality check for anyone starting to feel sorry for themselves or worry about things which are out of their control.

I hope things start to turn more in your favour with regard to the next tests.

Thanks for posting the vids bro…awesome as always…it’s 4:15 mt and I am off to the gym for round #2 today.
