Alpha Male Fashion

An “Alpha Male” watch is a practical watch and understated. A diamond encrusted Rolex is probably more douchey and nuvo-riche than “Alpha Male.” It just screams “trying too hard.”

For a Rolex, I’d say a Daytona in stainless steel would fit that. Perhaps a Yacht Master or ProHunter, depending on the person.

An IWC Pilot, any of the understated Ulysses Nardins, or a Tag also work.

My billionaire next door neighbor wears a Timex Ironman (but rides in the back of a black suburban with a driver and a bodyguard who both wear Rolexes with diamonds).
I wear a Casio with a Timex Ironman band. Best of all possible worlds

Well color me intrigued. Who are we talking about?

Every time one of these threads pop up, this is all I can see.

Basic very basic animal behavior. This whole Alpha Male shit needs to stop, if you have to run around wearing clothes that label you alpha and beat your chest like a mountain gorilla telling everyone how alpha you are, all that yells is low self esteem and mommy issues.
You’ve missed the point. The clothes don’t make the man but sometimes they reflect his true self. I have good taste and so I dress tastefully etc.
Machine, first off cargo pants with toms and a polo is far from good taste in fasion. Pairing that ridiulous outfit with the rolex pictured is honestly a terrible choice in style.

Why don’t you tell me what constitutes good taste then? What should I be wearing?

A watch isn’t jewellery sweetheart.

What is the purpose of jewellery and how is a watch different? Also the first post mentioned a watch with diamonds in it so that doesn’t really help your case.

A watch is a functional instrument. Men shouldn’t wear any jewellery with the possible exception of a wedding band.

I expected a few people to say nice watch or I don’t like it and then move on. What is it with everyone here? Is everyone fascinated with me or something? Really, I’m not that interesting.

For the record I agree with jb. Most the time I wear a plain longuine with black leather strap or no watch at all. But I think the Rolex is great for certain occasions or for turning pretty, young impressionae heads. Jb has excellent taste. Great car too.

Totally. If it was just a watch you’d wear a Casio digital made with a black plastic case. Functional! But even that is a form of adornment. Take the same watch, colour it bright yellow or neon blue or musk pink and I wouldn’t wear it. I make a statement about myself when I put it on. I’m very plain, everything I wear or don’t wear says that. I could be Amish and not know it!

What you’ve got with all those diamonds etc is a piece of jewellery. Sure it can tell the time to an acceptable margin of error, but its main function is ostentatious display and not timekeeping. That is the statement you make with it.

Actually given the size and colour it looks more like the sort of thing we used to use to trawl for Couta in the bay.

I will if you want me too. It really depends on which part. You combined several things that don’t go together in good taste.

I’m just getting the feeling this thread did NOT go in the direction SM wanted.

It’s ok though. He has more mental toughness than the average man.

Yeah, I’ve heard he’s an Alpha.

Not to mention that fine watches are often made of silver or gold, the bearings in a mechanical watch are made of ruby, diamond or sapphire (referred to as the “jewel”), and the face is covered by a sapphire crystal.

Let’s start at your feet. You wouldn’t look at someone wearing socks with sandals as having good taste, correct?

Same goes for toms, if you have to wear socks because your feet will stink them up, they should be no show socks.

Cargo pants on toms /= good taste.

Cargo pants should be paired with a casual boot, hiking shoe/boot, possibly a sneaker.

It’s because you titled the thread “Alpha Male Fashion” coupled with your reputation, username, etc. WRT the watch, IMO it is gaudy, tacky, and I’d expect a naive tourist to buy it in Chinatown NYC.

A watch that’s made out of precious metals has stopped being functional and started being jewelry. Unless you are James Bond and you are using it as a nearly universal back up store of emergency wealth. The only accessories a man needs are his accomplishments which should precede him if of sufficient weight.
