Alpha Male Fashion

We’ve bought my daughter a couple pair for this specific reason. But have began to just donate those type things directly instead.

Was not a mommy’s boy. I’ve been working since I was 15. As soon as I finished school I went overseas and moved out when I came back. I moved back in for a couple of months a few years ago to take care of her in the final stages of her cancer. As I said, you guys are drawing an odd conclusion from what I said about her intelligence. I inherited whatever extra grey matter I have from her side of the family. That was part of my point.

Outside my family I haven’t come across too many very smart women. Even the high achievers like my neighbour who scored 99 on her HSC and is now an in house lawyer for a major corporation is thick as shit when it comes to stuff like lateral thinking, original thought, imagination and wisdom. She’s basically successful because she worked her arse off but it’s just rote learning. At a guess I’d say her IQ is maybe 115 or so. Met a couple of clever ladies at university but they were extremely plain and socially awkward and so on.
Seriously? This is your idea of a high value woman? While coincidentally you A) wonder if a “drivethru [sic] chick” is impossible to impress, and B) find women strangely unintelligent and disappointing? I hate to tell you, Stud, but this girl had high hopes of modeling high-end clothes and makeup, but wasn’t pretty enough or intelligent enough to make it and so settled for pimping down-market lingerie while wearing poorly-applied cosmetics. Is she genuinely pretty and the trashy makeup covers that? Maybe. Or possibly she’s not that attractive and the makeup compensates, who knows.

Either way, she is not what most discerning people would consider “high value,” unless they are looking for a one night stand. (Lovely young woman though she may be.)
Really didn’t look at her face too closely, but I like her hourglass dimensions and was immediately drawn to that in accordance with my mannish hard wiring.
That’s almost word for word how I answered her. I thought I was reading my own post for a minute. Speaking of nice faces see attached. I’ve always regarded brown eyes as much more attractive than any others. And brown eyes with blonde hair is a great combo. In the ancient world Phoenecian women were highly regarded because of their brown eyes and blonde hair. I guess it’s kind of a genetic, best of both worlds; brown eyes from Asia/Africa/Southern Europe and blonde hair from Northern Europe.

And are you going to give a detailed critique of this lady’s appearance too Emily? Is she not up to the standard you think I should have?
Oh, I don’t care what standard you have. I was just saying you’re a dumbass. Rock on!
How tactful of you to say so. Tell me Emily, does all the attention you get from guys here make up for the lack of in what you call your life?

Guess my post didn’t work.

Alpha is to GAL, as religion is to PWI. It gets old having the same discussion over and over.

Couldn’t the same be said about you?

Lol, very true.

OP I think you’re on the wrong side of the internet. Most users of this website look up to respectable and admirable people and have much in common with them. People like Jim Wendler, Dave Tate, Ed Coan, Chris Duffin, Christian Thibaudeau, and other accomplished strength coaches and lifters.

While I can’t speak for any of them, I’m damn sure they don’t think themselves to be superior to other people, they don’t classify other people into levels of value, and they couldn’t give two fucks about whether their clothes attract or repel others. Many of us look up to them not only because they’re strong and knowledgeable, but because we have the aforementioned qualities in common with them as well.

Your lifestyle and your choices aren’t wrong, keep being yourself, but they’re silly to us. I know of no lifters that care so much about their wardrobe as you do (well other then the bodybuilders obsessed with aesthetics and getting laid). Personally, I don’t have the energy or the ego for that.

Basically, I’m saying that if you’re looking for people to bond with over your lifestyle on T-Nation you’re gonna be disappointed. Maybe get an account on Ask Men?

USMC, I think is she hot precisely because of the trailer park trashiness. The TPT appeal can be an X factor.

I meant to say this a while ago, if you have to tell people you are superior, its probably not true.

I tried to opt out of that and get a discount but you can’t. Money-grabbing shoeless African kids pushing up the price of my Toms!

I like them for the summer when it’s too hot for my boots and I’m not dressed smart enough for dress shoes. They’re comfortable, cheap, and charitable.

As for aftershave, I wear Terre by Hermes and YSL Jazz. The former gets more compliments from women, and the latter is what I consider to be a classic men’s fragrance.

I once walked the length of a metro carriage to pick up an old lady who had fallen over when nobody else moved a muscle. Pressed her over my head twice for good measure. Alpha as fuck.

LOL @ the hatin’ SM gets…

Deserved or not, it’s hilarious.

It’s not particularly manly to be passive-aggressive and catty. You know that, right?

My wife loves her Toms and the charity aspect is cool as well. It actually never occurred to me that they made men’s sizes. TBH, I expect they’re wicked comfy. I live in nailed leather logging and hunting boots for work and I can see how chilling in some lightweight, breathable, soft-soled Kung-fu-shoes might appeal, especially if it puts some African kid in shoes of his own.

I’ll probably stick with my Chucks, though.
A dickhead maybe but not a dumbass. However, I learned early in life not to expect anyone to recognise or respect intellectual ability. It’s due to the “Dunning-Kruger effect”. Essentially, a dumbass is unable to recognise either their own stupidity or recognise ability in others. But there’s a shortcut around here. The posters who avoid PWI or speak of it in derogatory terms are the dumbasses. They can’t hold their own in intelligent discourse.

When it comes to “Alpha Fashion” I would argue that the biggest factor is whether or not a man can be comfortable in various situations and the clothing that accompanies it.

If you are showing up to a buddy’s house on a weekend to help him with some landscaping work and wear a Rolex, you are not Alpha, but an asshole who finds it necessary to remind those around you of your status.

Similarly, if you show up to a business meeting wearing chucks and a polo, you are not Alpha because you eschew corporate norms, but an idiot who can’t figure out how to present yourself in such situations.

In my summation, being “Alpha” means that you are aware enough of your surroundings to wear what is appropriate for the given environment. You don’t need your wardrobe/ornamentation to speak for you in various situations, but your actions naturally cause others to take notice and show respect.
