Thanks, Em. When it comes to jewelry, I don’t wear a lot, but I tend to like things that are small and very simple. I’m gonna wear it all the time.

About “rugged” types. Do you remember Norm Abram from “The New Yankee Workshop” and “This Old House?” I had friend who thought he was the sexiest man alive. Apparently she had a type - Lumberjack. Very funny.

Wow, that’s an interesting “sexiest man alive.” The way he’s dressed in most of the google images, jeans with a printed button-up, is essentially how the average man goes to work where I live. Two steps down are the paint/grass/grease-stained Carhartts with worn t-shirts or thermal shirts (or layers of both) which is what really turns my crank lately. But that’s because that’s what I see my boyfriend in during his leisure time, when he’s clearing trees and chopping wood and fixing machines and building things, and THAT is the sexy part.

Beyond that it’s all just clothes - I like him in suits and jeans just fine, but when he’s his most essential self, it’s in the “worker guy clothes.” (I have some too.) The clothes he wears to work leave me flat. Button-up shirts with nondescript dark Docker-type pants and meh black shoes. He works primarily at universities, so does a lot of walking, crawls around on the floor, and meets with heads of departments about equipment that costs a very great deal of money and sometimes doesn’t work. So that’s his compromise outfit. But he doesn’t care in the least. Clothes are NOT his thing.

And you know, I’m glad. I don’t want a man who’s more into clothes than I am. “Outfits” are meant to be girl things.

 I made this Pinterest board with all these pictures as a way to try to save my sanity when shopping with my men. They both have about a 30 minute attention span for the mall, and that includes transit time. I liked being able to ask them if they like something first in an attempt to narrow things down and save time.

My son went from here where shorts and flip flops are acceptable almost anywhere, and a white shirt and tie with chinos is plenty dressed up - To attending a college where he needed a sport coat or suit twice in the first week. Men wear belts embroidered with whales there - not ironically. Yeah. And my son didn’t own serious winter gear. There was a lot of shopping.

Besides, I like pictures of handsome men.
Sounds very Ivy League.
Yes. He’s worked really hard and I’m just really proud. Most importantly, he’s a good man. And a nice person. He’s interested in so many things. And he’s very, very funny. It’s always a fear when you have a bright and talented kid. “Please don’t let him grow up to be an arrogant ass.” It’s a relief when you really like the adult they’ve become. I could do a super long Mother’s Day brag here about my kids, but I’ll spare you all. It was really nice to have him home yesterday with his little sisters. I’ve missed him so much.

Cowboy boots are high heels for men.

I had a friend in high school once who was like 5’ 4 and he wore them. I can’t remove that stigma…they add like 3" to your height.
At least he could touch his own shoulders.
And you wonder why everyone thinks you’re a douche.

My wife loves the long sleeve well fitting Henley look too with most of the buttons undone. Can be thermal, ribbed whatever, but it does “turn her crank” as you say. With either jeans or Carharts, and my Red Wings. She also gets wound up when I get back from hunting with the camo pants on and I have partially undone the two upper body layers (this seems to be key) and am sporting a little scruff. Guess there is something to the rugged look ha.

My wife doesn’t care how I look. My actions and words are the things that turn her on.

That’s true to a point, but I am pretty sure that every woman has certain outfits, or lack there of but this thread isn’t about that aspect, that make them sit back and go “damn my man looks good today”. Most men do to. Certain things my wife wears strike me with that “Holy hell, can we go straight to the after the date is over part” before we ever leave the house.
CLUNK wrote:

Women do experience disgust and revulsion. An average guy can get women to desire him but never a freak. No one wants to screw someone who’s morbidly obese or who has some hideous deformity. But essentially your point is correct. If you tick all the right boxes appearance is of little importance. That’s why you often see guys with great physiques who cannot attract women. Can you imagine a stunningly beautiful woman who couldn’t get sexual attention from men? Men and women; Mars and Venus. We’re two different worlds.

Was not a mommy’s boy. I’ve been working since I was 15. As soon as I finished school I went overseas and moved out when I came back. I moved back in for a couple of months a few years ago to take care of her in the final stages of her cancer. As I said, you guys are drawing an odd conclusion from what I said about her intelligence. I inherited whatever extra grey matter I have from her side of the family. That was part of my point.

Outside my family I haven’t come across too many very smart women. Even the high achievers like my neighbour who scored 99 on her HSC and is now an in house lawyer for a major corporation is thick as shit when it comes to stuff like lateral thinking, original thought, imagination and wisdom. She’s basically successful because she worked her arse off but it’s just rote learning. At a guess I’d say her IQ is maybe 115 or so. Met a couple of clever ladies at university but they were extremely plain and socially awkward and so on.
Seriously? This is your idea of a high value woman? While coincidentally you A) wonder if a “drivethru [sic] chick” is impossible to impress, and B) find women strangely unintelligent and disappointing? I hate to tell you, Stud, but this girl had high hopes of modeling high-end clothes and makeup, but wasn’t pretty enough or intelligent enough to make it and so settled for pimping down-market lingerie while wearing poorly-applied cosmetics. Is she genuinely pretty and the trashy makeup covers that? Maybe. Or possibly she’s not that attractive and the makeup compensates, who knows.

Either way, she is not what most discerning people would consider “high value,” unless they are looking for a one night stand. (Lovely young woman though she may be.)
Really didn’t look at her face too closely, but I like her hourglass dimensions and was immediately drawn to that in accordance with my mannish hard wiring.

That’s almost word for word how I answered her. I thought I was reading my own post for a minute. Speaking of nice faces see attached. I’ve always regarded brown eyes as much more attractive than any others. And brown eyes with blonde hair is a great combo. In the ancient world Phoenecian women were highly regarded because of their brown eyes and blonde hair. I guess it’s kind of a genetic, best of both worlds; brown eyes from Asia/Africa/Southern Europe and blonde hair from Northern Europe.

And are you going to give a detailed critique of this lady’s appearance too Emily? Is she not up to the standard you think I should have?

Indeed, she enjoys my pole.

I have to admit that Brittany Spears when she was younger in some photos pretty much approaches what I consider a perfect face. Although she obviously doesn’t have that special glint in the eyes I’ve described before that you see in real high value women: intelligence, confidence, wit, determination, strength of character etc. You can’t photograph something like that anyway. But yes, young Brittany certainly had a beautiful face. Not perfect though. Her chin is too small and lower halves of her jawbones at a too sharp acute angle. But when the camera angle concealed that she approached near perfect facial features.

Now you could critique her nose too but I believe that noses to an extent really are a matter of personal taste. Even when they break the facial symmetry I’m fine with it. I like biggish noses too. A nose can kind of make a woman’s face unique and give her face character. But I’m not overly taken with Brittany’s nose. I was pretty taken with Jennifer Grey’s nose before she went and mutilated it and destroyed her Jewish beauty. You’d really have to be unbalanced to do something like that to yourself. She totally destroyed her looks.

I always thought Brittany Spears was pretty hot… Trailer park trash, but hot…

Oh, I don’t care what standard you have. I was just saying you’re a dumbass. Rock on!

Every time a pair of Toms is purchased, the company donates a pair to child without shoes… Not judging based on style, but that’s pretty Alpha IMO.

Another article on Toms…

There was some hate in this thread… Thought I’d spread a little love.
