Almost 1016lb squat

I was looking for Canadian Olympic weightlifters, but stumbled upon this

not best form and I am not even going to comment on depth as my definition is much different than a PLers and I know a lot of you will criticize it, but if he were to clean up his form/technique he would be a force to reckon with no?

it is his second attempt that is 1016, he then misses 1058 on his third

edit:

sorry, pursued this further

here he is doing 1102lbs

the fact that he HOLDS it at the bottom is probably more impressive than the entire squat itself IMO

You do know the WR squat is 1250lbs, right?

wow I feel like a total douche now

I didn’t

Matt is a great lifter and and also a real nice guy.
He also has some pretty impressive IPF style lifts, and makes it look effortless.

He’s got a funny little twitch right in the bottom. Anyone know what’s going on there?

its to make sure he gets that last bit of depth

It’s called a dip, it’s awesome for getting that last bit to break parallel. Basically your tight, then loosen up slightly then retighten up to pop out of the hole.

Wow, I’ve never seen anyone squat that much that got virtually nothing out of their suit straps and belt…impressive!

How can you tell he’s not getting much out of his suit and belt? I don’t know much about it and I’m curious to know.

THAT was legitimation. pure power!!!
