Allen Contest Prep

I am excited to watch you reverse diet into the show. I want to try that when I compete again.

You are now on record as saying you will compete again! I’m saving this quote for proof

Ha, ha, you caught me. I started personal training clients. So now I am living and breathing training even more than normal. Also, one of my co-workers is competing in a show in a few weeks, so I think it is all combining to ignite my competitive fires.

Since last Sunday and after getting conformation from 2 coaches that I trust, I’m ready for the contest. Since then I have been increasing carbs based on my body’s response. I was at 150g of carbs last Sunday and this Sunday I was up to 230g and weight was the same, today I am at 280g and weight is stabilized. If it drops I will increase again.

This week I will also do trial run for my peak week. I will do everything as if I was competing Sat all the way up to pumping up and taking pics Saturday. The way I am responding I’m guessing my daily carbs will be around 325-350g by one week out. I just keep getting drier and fuller each time I raise carbs and vascular as hell (not that, that matters). During my peaking I will adjust carbs daily depending on how I wake up looking.

Trial loading day #1 is done. I went up to 500g of carbs and this morning no weigh gain, very dry and vascular, but not full. So I am bumping carbs to 600g today.

Looking good brother. What show are you doing?

You say quinoa flakes digest easier for you then oats allen. Do you believe that is because they just don’t bloat you, or do you think they digest faster and go through your body quicker? I tend to have slower digestion so I try to eat foods that will be “in and out” quicker ;). Do you notice if your bowels are any more regular with quinoa or something like cream of rice compared to oats?

I just don’t get bloated from quinoa and they may digest a little slower but nothing significant. Bowel movements are normal with most as I keep an eye on my fiber intake during prep so I stay as regular as possible.

Here is the last set of pics at 2 weeks out and ready to go. Carbs are at 330g daily with 2 re-feeds per week.

Looking lean, love the high carbs, feels great to diet with such a high amount.

I took 1st in the heavyweights and 2nd overall. Now onto contest 2 in 2 weeks. Then maybe one more. I start traveling a lot next month to support and watch over clients in their contests. Will be going to Jr nationals, Masters, Collegiate, IFBB North Americans, Olympia, nationals, etc…

Your back is awesome, Care to share how you’ve done your back training over the years?

Congrats on the placing! You looked excellent.

Big congrats on the placings!

Great pics, and great placings! Wishing you the best of luck moving on from here brother.

I haven’t posted in a while as I have been very busy with my coaching business with contest season in full swing. I have been traveling a lot as well. Just got back from the New York pro a couple weeks ago where I hung out with Amit Sapir and helped him with some pics and telling John what I was seeing because he was there by himself as John’s flight got cancelled.

We wnet out to eat after the contest and had dinner the following night as well. I have attached a few pics. We have a pro competing this weekend in Toronto as well, Jeff Long, who came to Matt Jansen and we have been working together to help bring him in as best we could with only having 6 weeks to work with him, but he is night and day from when we first saw him.

I will be going to Florida for one week on vacation starting Friday. When I come back I have decided to throw my hat in the ring and do Masters Nationals. I will be 7 weeks out when I get back from vacation but I am still only 3 kbs over my last contest weight and still trying to push it up more before I start the next prep so I am not fighting depletion all the way til contest. So once I get back I will start posting more for Masters.

Here are Vlogs on my Prep
