All this Iraq shit

I was going to post a reply to a certain persons attack on Canada. But it would bounce off his dense head and he would post again and it would go back and forth forever. It would be a waste of my time. The payoff to effort ratio would be zero, so why bother? Plus this person doesn’t even seem to entirely read my posts. I go on the forum to learn and have some fun. This crap is not fun. These issues are important to me. But I feel an Internet forum is a poor medium to argue it. Especially when people are classifying other people as “good guys” and “bad guys”. Grow up!!! I was stupid enough to get roped into political discussion with people who just want to argue. They have made it up in their minds that they are right. Tis pointless.

By the way who told Natlie Maines that I had weapons of mass destruction in my underwear? She came over last night and invaded my pants! Of course I had to hit it! Just kidding.

Yours truly

Canada=Bad Guys

I’ll make no apologies when I notice diesel’s & US=GG are pretty much the only ones starting these threads, and that they seem to be rotating about the same topics. Arrogant? Why yes, you are. Making personal attacks? You sure do.

Show me one political thread you guys started in which either of you two is not bashing something or someone, and I’ll give you a reason to keep making them.

Some good points up top, and some not-so-good-ones.

To Diesel: Yes, it’s an off-topic forum, and yes, everyone has a right to post what they want. No argument there. It’s the sheer volume that’s bothering me here. See, I was cool for the first, oh, half a year or so. But lately, it’s kind of gotten on my nerves to have this become basically the Half-Iraq-and-Half-All-Other-O/T Forum. You complain about Patricia’s movie posts? Take a look at the number of movie posts that have been put up in the past two months or so, and then compare it to the number of Iraq-related posts. I think you’ll see a fairly large disparity. Furthermore, there’s rarely more than ONE post about any given movie. I think that if people were to post over and over about the same fuckin’ movie for months on end, there’d be some complaints.

Furthermore, a lot of posts that start out as being not specifically about Iraq get highjacked and sucked into the “debate” - as was evidenced by your response (pretty knee-jerk immediate, too - it was the second one) to the guy who asked what readers were members of the Canadian army. Notice that no one logged on and said, “Hey, did anyone see that WWII movie …?” on that thread.

So I think your comparison is a bit, um, off.

Oh, and yes, I’m arrogant. And you are…what, exactly?

To iscariot: Bud, I actually like you. I think that a lot of what you have to say on a lot of issues makes quite a bit of sense. Even if I don’t agree with you 100% sometimes, I can at least see what seems to me to be an intelligent point of view behind it.

However, I think that your “clique” comment above was unwarranted. At this point, it’s basically impossible to count the number of times I’ve given good advice to people who’ve posted on the T/N board - and the vast majority of them have not been friends of mine. My only criteria are that the post be literate, somewhat intelligent, and not lazy. In the majority of these cases, I have received no thanks for my input. So I’m not really sure what your point is.

Also, I don’t see you over on the T/N board giving advice very often, so I’m not overly worried about criticism on that point coming from your direction. Now if it were Eric Cressey, or Tampa-Terry, then I’d think about it. But you? Nah.

To US=GG: Think about going to a gym, any gym, and having them play the Star Spangled Banner over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and …

That’s what reading your posts on this forum is like.

People, no one - least of all me - is trying to limit anyone’s freedom of speech. What I’m talking about is excessive repetition of that freedom. If you can’t see the difference, I ask you to imagine a forum in which I post the results of each and every chess game that I play. That would be about one or two every other day. Then the same group of people come on and start to tell me about how I made bad moves. Another person or two comes on and defends my moves. This goes on interminably, for months. Every time you look at the front page of the forum, there’s another damn chess game. No, you don’t have to read it. No, you’re not going to PM the T-Mag staff and ask them to remove the damn things.

But you might end up, after months of this, asking me to show a little restraint.

As I’m asking you.

Char, great post. You really put it together well.

Char - you make valid points, I should have clearly stated that my clique-ness comment related specifically to the off-topic board. [I also wasn’t referring to myself be “cliqued” but just as a general observation]

I do actually revere the knowledge of a few folk around here, and then of course there’s Cupcake’s boobies. [10 weeks and counting Jeff eeeek]

As for not posting on the T/N board.
Two main reasons:
[1] I don’t see the point in repeating what numerous other luminaries said, especially since being in NZ, the info posts usually get filled with said replies while I’m asleep grin. I really object to “me too” posts - so I just shut up.

[2] The questions I would ask, someone beats me to it [bastards :)] - For this reason I tend to lurk more on The Frozen Doggie board as I’m trying to learn this Olympic-y stuff about which I’m absolutely clueless [as driving a split jerk through my chin would appear to demonstrate].

On a personal note - I don’t have the confidence put up a pic yet as I don’t want to shatter the screens of the gentle readers.

Final Note: You can’t LIKE me, I’m a bad guy, US=GG told me so [and that started with Roman Polanski, just ask Patricia heh]

Oh yeah, well I invented Iraq and so , well never mind. I’m conservative, republican, and don’t give a shit. I believe what I believe, no one will convince me otherwise.
I think you’re all a little overboard. My 2 cents, but it’s off topic, so who cares what I think. Fire away at each other. Just remember to keep your back tight on box squats, so you don’t do what I did.

Iscariot: Fair enough. Except for your Point Number One. You live in NZ? I live in Japan. Basically the same time-zone, bud.

And I would just like everyone to observe, so long as I’m being called an arrogant bastard anyway, that Char-Dawg The Magnificent is the only person in either hemisphere, on any continent, who can bring Patricia and ~karma~ together on an issue.

[Cue bwa-ha-haa, drunk-with-his-own-power laugh]

I promise to stop posting about Iraq, after Bush is impeached for lying to Congress and to the american people about the urgent need to send the country to war.

We all know that the Republican Congress is incredibly moral and high-minded. Many of the Republican members have stated for the public record that they will not tolerate any lying by our Commander in Chief. Since the Republican majority controls Congress, I expect that impeachment should happen fairly soon:

I haven’t been able to post for the past few weeks due to internet problems, but I was getting a little burned out on the Iraq posts, and the lack of evolution in the discussion. This is an important issue that should not be decided based on what party you belong to.

Try to look at the posts as a library. You don’t have to read every book, and you don’t have to read every post. I personally avoided this forum before the war, but I have had fun since.

Oh yeah… I’m Back.

Huge BALLS to try to hijack this thread into an Iraq debate. Lumpy you must find it hard to walk around with 16 pound balls clanking together. Either that or your just an incredible dumbass.

Phatman, I was just hoping to God that that was his attempt at humor.

ROTFLMAO!! Amen and amen. Now, maybe the three of us could shock this Iraq nonesense out of everyone by havin’ us a little sammich - too bad the mods wouldn’t let the pics go up… devilishly maniacal giggling

Char is right about the time zone thang, Iscariot. I was living in Japan too and could post in the morning about when those in the west were going to bed, and could get the last word in. Its an advantage.

The Iraq debates DO tend to follow the same dead end path: some BS “the war is great” post followed by those shooting the propaganda full of holes, then degenerating into name calling. end. See the latest by US=GG.

BTW, Char, you live in Hiroshima? Everyone should visit the atomic bomb memorial museum there- heaviest damn place I’ve ever been. Literally wasn’t able to speak for an hour after walking through there.

Kuri - what’s the point in get the last word in in a training or nutrition thread - those are for information, not oneupmanship.

Now, the Iraq Board on the other hand…

kuri, iscariot, and other rabid bad guys,
I do love when you try to act holier than thou. I love when you try to “take the high road.” What a joke. No one buys it. Not convinced? Here are a few of your “high road” quotes.
First off, this is what kuri said on this thread:
“The Iraq debates DO tend to follow the same dead end path: some BS “the war is great” post followed by those shooting the propaganda full of holes, then degenerating into name calling. end. See the latest by US=GG.”
Here is our boy/girl kuri in action:

  1. “I’m not blaming Bush himself because I think he’s too stupid to really understand the history & all of the factors involved”
  2. Don’t know where to begin attacking the complete stupidity of this line of thinking, and frankly probably nobody will change your mind anyway - short of having your family killed by a bomb (nobody sane could wish such a thing).

iscariot?

  1. “Not all dictators are bad.”
  2. The famous quote about the United States being terrorists.

Good Guys. Don’t be fooled. They are on the run and they know it. Even they know that you don’t hide nuclear parts and plans, unless you are both deceiving and planning to eventually use them to construct a weapon. The bad guys know that it is only a matter of time before they are forced to admit their error. Oh, lumpy, I’m just as convinced as ever that the Iraq War was not only justified but necessary.

Hey 35+ posts about Iraq already in two days about how nobody wants to talk about Iraq anymore. Hahahaah!

I am now a rabid bad guy. I’ve upgraded my badness! I am the baddest of badness…bad ass, bad bad…BAD, rabid bad…muthafuck’n’ badguy around!!! You hear me good guys!?! I’M BAD!!!

Canada=Rabid BadGuys

Iraq posts are getting old and tiresome.

O BTW - I support the troops for being out there, but that doesnt’ mean I have to agree w/ the idiot who lives in the White House and says all that nonsense about axis of evil.

arcanecocaine,
It’s a bad week to stop taking amphetamines.
stella,
That comment about George W. Bush was not very nice. His popularity must gall you. Especially in light of the fact that your hero gore, is now a synonym for loony. Please see Diesel’s pic about the guy claiming to have invented the internet. Hey stella, good luck in 2004.
The Mage,
Good to see you back!!! However, for once, I don’t agree with everything you said. You should have said, “Hey bad guys, read every post from the Good Guys. Memorize them. Live them. Worship the Good Guy posts. The Good Guys will show you how to come into the light. They will enlighten and expand your mind. Let their wisdom inspire you to new heights of understanding and creative thought.”

US=GG: Finally some humour from you. ;)And speed is for pussies I do nothing less than crystal meth with a crack chaser. Thanks dude.
