All for the Pump - Rugby & Lifting

28th August - 6 Week Cut WK 3/6 - Upper B

Down 2.2kg so far in 3 weeks which is good, looking leaner and feeling good eating clean and not drinking. Had rugby training last night and legs still felt heavy, think i really need to get on the foam roller for a bit later today.

Playing rugby tomorrow night so tried not to push myself too hard today although i didn’t feel great so didn’t anyhow.

Good session but felt really sore after rugby at the weekend. My traps and neck and super tight still. Thinking i need to add some neck planks into my routine again but finding time to fit something else in is hard at the moment.

Played the full 80m and played ok, was a really fast paced game suited to a younger man but after about 20minutes i really got into the swing of things with some good shots and the odd carry. Not my best game but no my worst, didn’t make any mistakes at least. The league starts in a couple of weeks on a Friday so need to make sure i manage my workload.

I’ve dropped reps on Incline DB press since I’ve started my cut which I’ve seen previously. Not sure if this is in my head or not but incline DB is the only exercise i seem to drop reps on a cut.

The only lifts I consistently do worse on when in a deficit are my chest movements.
Like triceps and shoulders are still putting in work. Chest says “nah”.

Going to try and do fitness session later.

Had some terrible sleep last night but got some bad news at the weekend. My dad has been diagnosed with terminal cancer and has got an emergency operation this Wednesday to buy him some time. The doctors told him to get his affairs in order which isn’t’ a good sign.

They didn’t give timescales, but just the worry and stress of it all takes its toll.

So sorry to hear this, that’s devastating. Hopefully you’ve got people close by to support you, but if you ever want to connect please do reach out.

Sorry to hear the news, it’s a shit show no 2 ways about it.
Best thing you could do is to stay strong for him which is obviously easier said then done. I’ve been in a very similar situation so if you ever feel the need please let me know should you wish to talk

OMG so very sorry to hear the news about your dad mate. Thinking of you and here for whatever moral support I can give.

I’m sorry you’re dealing with this. We lost my Mother In Law earlier this year to cancer.

IDK how legal things get over there, but you will want to make sure your Dad’s final wishes are known, who he wants to be his Power of Attorney (legal, medical, financial decision maker in his absence), his will, etc.

It sucks and I’m truly sorry you have to deal with this, but the sooner you can do this, the better. Waiting does not make this easier.

Do you have people to talk to and lean on that aren’t your wife and children?

Thanks all.

I’ve only told a few people at work but should probably tell my mates, just not very good at having those conversations (what men really are). I chatted to my Dad about helping my Mum be the executor of the will and went through banking and all stuff that he needs to give me mum access to. We’ve not sorted power of attorney (due to the timescales) but that is something we will need to do.

He went into surgery this morning at 7:30 and is still in now. They didn’t give timescales on how long it would be so just at work tyring to concentrate on other things.

I trained Tuesday morning but missed rugby training last night as i wasn’t in the right headspace.

Forgot to mention i am still cutting, i started at around 105kg (average weight) and am currently 102.5kg (on average). So lost around 2.5kg in 5 weeks. I’ve only had two pints in that time and only 2 cheat meals. Other than that i’ve stuck 100% to my diet which is very rare for me to be so compliant.

Thank you for the offer. I know i should talk to me friends, i’m just not very good at talking about anything like this. I will do that though as i can tell i’m just holding things in right now.
