have they found other habitable planets nearby yet???
I’ve seen a couple here question the extent to which imtelligent life elsewhere is possible, using what we already know to refute some of these possibilities. Keep in mind whenever you try to use logic or scientific knowledge to refute something that nothing about ourselves or what we know/suspect about the universe is really that applicable to the possibility of life elsewhere.
For instance, someone on here earlier said that if intelligent life existed elsewhere, they would not visit us because it takes millions of years to get here. But the laws of physics as we know them may not apply to other lifeforms that have evolved in universes and circumstances infinitely different than our own. What may be a lifetime for us may be the blink of an eye to another species. There is so much that we do not know that may alter what little we do know that it is foolhardy to apply any of our own knowledge to this discussion. Anything and everything is possible, and I stress ANYTHING and EVERYTHING.
habitable for us or habitable for a lifeform that we have no way of knowing what it’s requirements are?

Well I had a debate with a guy in my Earth Sciences and Astronomy class. The existence of aliens is very very plausible but their arrival to earth is IMO not possible.AS far as I know a particle needs an infinite amount of energy to travel to the speed of light so traveling at that speed is out of question, plus even if they had the ability to travel to the speed of light(LETS SAY NEAR THAT SPEED BECAUSE THE LAWS OF PHYSICS DO NOT ALLOW IT) you would need millions of years to travel from one system, galaxy etc to earth. Its impossible.
The guy I discussed started throwing shit like: they may be able to modify laws of physics etc.I cut him short and left him feeling like shit. One possibility,Its very very very unlikely but I’m trying to look at all possible explanations ,the use of Worm-holes to travel top great distances in a short time.BUT i didn’t say this, because the motherfucker was an illogical prick and he would take this theory on the spot and wouldn’t accept more arguments. And i seriously hate to lose to illogical motherfuckers :P.
Hmmm, don’t you think that with our extremely limited knowledge our understanding of the ‘laws of physics’ may be flawed to some level.
i have already answered this question

You must have had something else in mind, because technology has NOT been around for 100 years. Some technology has been around as long as 200,000 years (stone tools), but most of its growth has been in the past 50,000 years. It’s not like all the discoveries of the past century have just appeared overnight. The past 100 years are just a culmination of the previous 49,900 years of technological development.
Don’t you think we should leave well enough alone, gather our weapons, and hunker down so that we’re prepared for the alien invasion.
They may come in peace, but they’ll leave in pieces.

Well, if you’re unable to interact and even detect them. Isn’t that pretty much the same as them not existing?
No. We didn’t know about radio waves, until a little more than a century ago. People had an idea of them, but we didn’t have antennas, receivers, transmitters, and all the signal processing equipment to measure, create, or use them.
Did they exist. Yes. We were completely oblivious to it, but they were still there.
That doesn’t change the fact that it does interact with matter, regardless if we know how to exploit this or not.

I saw 'em along with a bunch of other kids back when I was boy scout camp. I don’t really care to give them much thought if they’re going to keep their distance.
What?
I’m sure there is intelligent life out there. It might even visit us from time to time, why not.
But 99.99999% of the abduction stories on TV are bullshit. I mean, I hope to Christ aliens aren’t abducting hysterical middleaged white trailer trash women to learn about our species. But then, that would explain why they haven’t bothered to make official contact with us.

Count Rockula is irrefutable proof that there are aliens amongst us.

I used to wish I would be adopted by a Predator alien and taught it’s killing ways.

As long as Fedor and Chuck Norris are still alive, the aliens won’t invade, and Chuck Norris is immortal…so…we’re good foo.

We cant see or detect dark matter but we know it exists.

No we don’t. There are several theories that model for the observed presence of extra gravitation in most galaxies. Non-radiating matter is just one of them.
Yep. Unless you believe that millions of people just made up the story for attention.

LOL. You honeslty believe in alien abductions?
Come on.

Non Radiating Matter? I beleive most people beleive in the presence of Dark Matter because of the universe expanding.

They made it up.
There probably is life out there. If they can travel to other planets as far away as ours, then they won’t be dumb enough to land on this clusterfuck of a planet.
^^
It would be an awful waste of space if we were alone…
