Alien vs. Predator: R (Requiem)

As a fan of the “Alien”, “Predator” and “AVP” series, I’m excited AND disappointed about this installment of the “AVP” franchise.

First, the Story

When a Predator scout ship crash lands in a Colorado town, the Aliens on board escape and infect the town. A lone “Wolf/Assassin” Predator is sent to clean up and kill all the Aliens that escaped.

Meanwhile, people who live in the Colorado town are hopelessly caught in the middle of the ultimate face-off between the two Eternal Enemies. The human plot seems to center around stopping the alien outbreak before the military nukes the whole area for morbid.

Great plot…I hope they pull it off…

I’m disappointed because:

  1. This has to be the POOREST marketing effort I’ve seen yet with the franchise (how many of you knew it was opening Christmas day?) and

  2. Why wasn’t this a Summer Release?

Oh, well…for a true fan, I’ll live!

Again…“AVP-R” opens Christmas Day…

I’ve been a big fan of the predator movies. Loved both of em.

Not so much the alien movies, but they’re still cool.
I’ll deffinetly check this out. To bad there wont be more then one predator in this one though.

I thought is was cool for the first AVP how they took two seemingly unrelated movie series and joined them into one story. I really enjoyed AVP. I’ll be sure to check this one out when it is on DVD.

Thanks for the update.

I completely agree on the poor marketing. I’ve known it’s opening Christmas day for some time now, but that’s only because I’m a movie freak. I think I saw the first preview for it, in the theaters, about 6 months ago. I have hardly seen any on TV though, which is a terrible marketing decision.

As for the timing of the movie, I think the summer may have just been too saturated with other action flicks for this to stand a chance.

The Holiday season, on the other hand, is pretty much saturated with dramas and romantic comedies (besides “I Am Legend”), so people who are looking for guns, invisibility, acid blood, and other such entertaining things, may turn to AVP-R instead.

I know I will. Only after seeing “I Am Legend” in the IMAX, though…

I love The Predator movies and Alien 1&2, three wasn’t that bad. I didn’t see the first AvP because it was rated PG-13. I mean, what the fuck? I will see this one, though.

If you haven’t yet, check out the R rated trailer for this bad boy. It kicks ass, I’ll try to find a link.

Odd that I jsut saw this after being away from T-Nation for a while…and just saw the first trailer tonight, had heard NOTHING about this film before tonight. WTF?

Looks like it could be cool, but so many films have disapointed in the last few years…have to wait and see.

I agree about the marketing, but I am not looking forward to the story. I was a huge fan of the books and comics. I wish they would have stuck to that story line.
