After our dog died my boys were devastated. So we got cats. The one that my son bonded with developed a cyst between the eye and the brain. We’d owned this cat 3 weeks. And I was looking at a £7k-£10k vet bill.
As luck would have it the medication worked. Much to the vets shock. But I was about to teach my son a very touch lesson.
Yea definitely avoiding this - almost immediately my eldest asked for a new bunny, then today started asking about having her friends rabbit who wasn’t wanted at their house. Had to get quite tough to stop her getting her hopes up and getting too mentally invested.
One bunny left and as much I like them they’re indoor rabbits and who in their right mind brings rodents into their home.
Good fortune that medicine worked! Vet bills are insane.
As I was sat here training I realised I am very much lacking gym motivation (probably SADs related that’s always a struggle for me, it comes out in my work as well, general joie de vivre) no big shakes because I have some discipline when it comes to training and realised that I can still grow even going through the motions, so changed the title of the log to reflect that.
Powerwalked to pick kids up from school so dropped 10 mins HIT (totally the same thing!).
Squats: 60, 80, 100, 120, 140kg X 5
S/s Ng chins: 6 X 5 sets
Cable spider curl: 20kg X 30 X 3
S/s cable oh ext: 20kg X 30 X 3
That was it, short and very much going through the motions, but diets been improving (5 a day, every day since new year, consistent protein, still an absurd amount of sugar, but one thing at a time) and slept nearly 8 hours last night and trying to improve that.
I did a “sleep study” last night by wearing my better halfs fit bit thingy that she got for Christmas. In one 5.5 hour night I got better sleep quality than in the 9 hour nights she usually gets.
I’ve had one of those things (cheap version) was never sure how accurate the sleep thing was, interesting data, assuming there is something behind them given the market place (either that or its the emporers new clothes on a mass scale).
Did the fasted morning cardio, took my normal photo to save me typing it out when I went to upload it turns out it was just a photo of my feet, camera was slower than me today!
20 mins, 15 @ 6.5mph then for the last 5 mins 0.1mph increase every minute so 7mph by the end, 2 point something miles.
Was cold in the conservatory today, unpleasantly so, ran with hoodie on for first 10 mins, then got hot. The last 5 mins worked well, might try and keep that but increase the start point of the increase so eventually I’m starting at 6.5mph and ending at 8.5mph. That’ll take a while to build up to so gives me a goal and keeps it “fun” whilst hopefully building stamina, endurance, cardiac capacity and healthy etc (all the important stuff) but not killing me or my recovery.
Alex, just spent some time catching up here but saw nothing about a placement until the comment directly above. Could you fill me in?
I regret not pursuing our previous conversations further, you and @Bagsy too! Maybe I will get on the ball and make some time here soon.
This was one of my big takeaways from Mass Made Simple. If you’ve got something that’s going to take all your willpower to do right, do it last because you don’t need willpower after you’re done. Gives me permission to go absolutely ham on the last effort.
Email anytime and no worries if you don’t get time at all!
Had our first placement in December, was only a short (just over two weeks) quite unusual to be that short. Great experience and looking forward to the next. Our kids loved them and were really good and caring everyone shed a little tear when they left. Amazing how attached you can get in such a short time period. The attachment and loss will be significantly harder when we get a baby for 6-8 months!
@Bagsy I don’t think you ever sent me an email did you? Again not worried, but want to make sure that I wasn’t ignoring you if you had.
I’m pretty sure I did using the address you posted here a couple months ago, but I never heard back. Maybe I copied it down wrong, or it never went through? I don’t know.
