That ends up fairly intense for me, but might be able to slow myself, worth a try to add it to the mix.

Be careful or you’ll just end up getting a whipping and very sore calves :joy:
Also, 20min of battle ropes sounds horrid

Haha yea that was never in the running for LISS ideas! I can barely do it during a HIIT session!

I wonder if @T3hPwnisher is up for a challenge :joy:

He’d probably be able to skip with it!

Are rope burns worse than getting whipped?

Much like my opinion on farmer’s walks: if you can do it for 20 minutes, it’s not intense enough.

Throw together training session (start in earnest Monday).

No HIIT because I’m lazy and everything hurts already.

Bench: bar, 60, 70, 80, 90kg X 5, 100kg X 11 (+1 fail and a roll of shame, hit the catcher and threw it up uneven then had back cramp, all in all a spectacular fail)
S/s
Standing single arm horizontal cable rows (ssahcr - catchy): 20kg X 12, 12, 12, 15, 15, 25.

DB Inc bench: 25kg X 15 X 3 sets
S/s bench lying rows: 25kg X 15 X 3 sets

Ng chins: 5, 5, 3, 2, 2, 2, 1 (rest pause 5 breaths)
S/s
Dips: 12, 10, 10, 8, 5, 5. (RP 5 breaths)

Motivation for training isn’t really there right now, good job motivation is overrated, I’m sure it will come back when I don’t feel like every set is crushing me and I can’t catch my breath.

Chins and dips were at the end so I was carrying fatigue, but definitely showing how body comp has slipped, that’s not a great showing.

And this is why you’re supposed to always film your lifting! So we can laugh…

Was my squat fail not enough?!

Not sure if you’re in Tier 4 lockdown, so if you are then this will be a useless recommendation lol. But, if you have access to a pool, I’d SO recommend swimming. By far my favourite form of cardio. Works equally well for HIIT and LISS (if you ever want to do HIIT), pretty easy on the joints, can even improve recovery because of the blood flow to all the different muscles. Also gives you a DIRTY pump, bro. And I think it has some unique hypertrophic qualities too, especially for the lats (that’s just my own theory though).

Only downsides I can see: 1. You need a pool, 2. If you go really hard (I mean like training it as a sport) it can feel like a weights session and begin to interfere with the day’s weight training, and 3. It’s not quite as fun on your own as it is in a squad with a coach. (But given how you want to use it, these last two points shouldn’t be a problem). And, to be fair, you need at least some level of swimming ability to really fully take advantage of it as a cardio option, so there is a skill issue at play too.

Although —

— cycling is a great choice too, and to be honest, will give you very similar benefits with less of the logistical and skill-based problems.

I think Cornwalls tier 0 isn’t it? Everything goes down there.

You are definitely right on swimming it’s a great low impact exercise, one I need to do more of (part of my fitness test at work, but since that test is only every 3 years I wait until a month out before I do any haha), I used to swim competitively as a teenager, I was decent as well, but then I gained a whole load of weigh (muscle mostly, I might add) and didn’t swim much for almost 2 decades and turns out I suck at it now!

Having said that it’s not something I can do in daily in 20 mins - pool is close but take in to account changing times and commute and were taking 20 mins before swimming!

In the summer I will pick up surfing again, always a killer.

Biking is definitely going to make it into the mix, will start working on the bikes today!

Haha tier 3 now! Although a neighbour had a kids sleep over party the other day saw 9 teenage girls leave in the morning, so yea Cornwall…

Today’s cardio:

Told myself I wasn’t going to compete with previous attempt, so took it intentionally easy until 10 mins then my competitive spirit kicked in and I tried to catch up, nearly got it. Definitely easier just to go at a slightly higher pace for 20 mins than trying to play catch up, ah well.

Still aching all over (doms) taking time off is a mistake!

Isn’t 9 teenage girls Cornwalls entire population?

Hit a 2.6 mile woodland walk, my legs didn’t appreciate it at all, going for another walk tomorrow, hopefully my legs appreciate it more, going to take tomorrow off the training and keep that as a general pattern, Sunday’s off.

Today’s LISS, decided out the gate to get to/beat previous efforts and just went steady. 20 mins is perfect for me for LISS because when I do cardio I get so freaking bored I have to create challenges and just end up cranking up the speed/effort/input and turning it into a sprint, 20 mins forces me to be conservative (bored) for at least 16-18 mins if I’ve got it in me at the end I push a little harder.

Didn’t get on a walk yesterday, was about to go when a family pet (rabbit) decided it no longer wanted to live, ran head first full tilt into a fence and paralyised itself leading to an out of hours vet trip (stupidly expensive to pay someone to kill my pet) and a very upset household.

Sorry to hear that mate, that’s unfortunate. I think you’ve mentioned you have a few kids? Hope they are handling it ok.

Sorry to hear that dude.

Pet insurance seems expensive until you need it, but honestly, it’s cheap as chips compared to paying for this stuff yourself.

Thanks, yea kids is the worse bit, my eldest saw it happen and it was pretty traumatic watching something you love hurt itself in such a dramatic way then have to be put down.

Flip side of that is I think it’s actually a pretty useful and integral part of having pets, helps them see the fragility of life and experience and cope with pain and emotion, not at all pleasant but it’s an inevitable part of life and I think learning to process that in a smaller way when you’re younger might help later when bigger losses come. Then again I could just be wrong about that!

Haha tell me about it, fortunately there is no ongoing costs, had a friend who’s ferret got a tumour, ended up needing specialist surgery, cost them £7k in the end (no insurance on that either!)
