No someone bought me a gift voucher for my birthday, you couldn’t use the discount codes or offers with the voucher meaning you would be paying double for something just because using a gift voucher (which they have took full money for) what follwed was some hideous customer service ending with me having to tell the gift giver the thoughtful gift they have given is worth half the amount they paid for it in order to get a refund.
That’s crap, I’ve literally never bought anything full price from MP they’ve always got a “sale” on. I’ve only tried one other brand of unflavoured whey and it gave me nuclear farts, so I’ll stick with MP but join you in outrage!
Morning weight 212, alright now the weights moving (I’m getting fat) 2 more weeks left to go!
Week 4 day 3
Conditioning - nope I’m fat now, this is a lost cause (ok time constraints and going for a decent walk this afternoon, might squeeze 10 mins in later as well).
Press: 40kg X 5 X 4 sets
Giant set 1
kB swing: 24kg X 3 X 6 sets
Squats: 60, 80, 100, 120, 140, 150kg X 5, 85kg X 20
Press: 40kg X 5 X 8 sets
Giant set 2:
Chins: 15kg X 5 X 5 sets
Shrugs: 80kg X 20 X 5 sets
Face pulls: red X 20 X 5 sets
I can tell I’m getting slightly worn down (lack of sleep big contributor here), dropped abs, used an excuse for conditioning (legit excuse but still an excuse), not timing rests (still pretty short but not strict). Not a major issue, I’m still doing every rep as prescribed (and still cleaning every press from floor at start of set), 2 weeks left.
Also shrugs and face pulls feel like the most pointless exercise in existence. Although I’ve seen some Joel Seedsman vids so I’ll rephrase that, the most pointless exercises I currently do.
Oh, look - another guy who crushes squats. My 255 (115ish kgs) for 5 this weekend is my best set of 5 in years.
I agree. I question the purpose of something if it takes sets of 50+ to feel any sort of fatigue. I’m not saying they’re worthless or bad. I just don’t think they’re worth my time investment.
Shrugs I agree with but I like face pulls for shoulder health, maybe its a form thing?
I ended up finding the pharma thread. Thanks for that…
There is some variety though with shrugs. You can change it up a bit to get more of the MMC going. I’ve always like the behind the back row/shrug thing. I think @FlatsFarmer linked a video of a BBer doing that a while back, and I’ve been using that move since. Also I think Flats talks a lot about the incline bench db shrug for working the entire trap. I like that quite a bit as well. Pullaparts and face pulls are just good for the shoulders man. The older you get the more those moves become your friend.
Turning into a meme soon with so many people referencing him in this manner ![]()
Shrugs and pull aparts are worthless, unless you want a jacked yoke. Then they are pretty cool.
It’s tough to get the good tension for face pulls with a skinny red band. You may need to fold it in half and pull against the two ends.
Personally, I like Y Raises way better than face pulls or pullaparts.
I do love DB shrugs on an incline to get those lower and mid traps!
Yea but that’s because you don’t like squatting or want to squat (from memory): it happens to be a move that I’m relatively ok at compared to the other big three, so it motivates me to squat more and push it harder (despite the fact I don’t particularly enjoy it, I much prefer deadlifts but I’m crap at those).
Yea pretty much how I feel about them, although I’ll caveat it by saying:
This is almost certainly true (although I’m not sure I care enough to do anything about it).
Thanks, I might try switching up the shrugs a bit, reverse and
Sound like they’re more beneficial.
I probably do want a bigger yoke…
Thanks I’ll give that a go next time!
You have to remember that when Alex crushes his squats, he does so about 9 inches above parallel, lol.
Hey… Shut up.
I resemble that comment.
I meant it in a loving way.
Who ever told you what 9inches looks like was lying to you.
You’re right, of course. Probably like 10 inches.
Bob is very kind to you.
You’d actually look like you’re on gear then ![]()
