Morning weight 208.5 - woke up with indigestion, that’s new, don’t normally get indigestion at all, assuming eating high amount of fat has something to do with it? Or a heart attack!

Very fair chance: high lipids can have something of a “greasing” effect in the digestive track. Jon Andersen has a frequent occurrence of passing gas in his videos, and high dosage of fish oil can have a runny effect as well.

Morning weigh in 208.5, was expecting to be a no gain today (or even a loss) had a full on drill last night with new kit (protective clothing) which is significantly hotter than the last stuff, sweat was dripping (did drink a lot all day) also gave blood (losing a pint of blood - assuming this would have a slight impact?) And my eating schedule was slightly messed up, so overall wasn’t expecting anything gains but no losses is a win.

Need to push hard today, it’s a pizza night so that will make it easier.

Noticeably I can feel I’ve worked by upper body (but not doms, just a sense of I’ve done some hard work), my garage door is broken so not training today (won’t close and don’t want to leave it open with all the kit in it) hopefully be able to replace it tomorrow and get a session in!

Channel the wisdom of J M Blakely

“For dinner you’re gonna order an extra-large pizza with everything on it. Literally everything. If you don’t like sardines, don’t put 'em on, but anything else that you like you have to load it on there. After you pay the delivery guy, I want you to take the pie to your coffee table, open that fucker up, and grab a bottle of oil. It can be olive oil, canola oil, whatever. Anything but motor oil. And I want you to pour that shit over the pie until half of the bottle is gone. Just soak the shit out of it.”

“Now before you lay into it, I want you to sit on your couch and just stare at that fucker. I want you to understand that that pizza right there is keeping you from your goals.”

This guy is in a zen-like state when he’s talking about this.

“Now you’re on the clock,” he continues. "After 20 minutes your brain is going to tell you you’re full. Don’t listen to that shit. You have to try and eat as much of the pizza as you can before that 20-minute mark. Double up pieces if you have to. I’m telling you now, you’re going to get three or four pieces in and you’re gonna want to quit. You fucking can’t quit. You have to sit on that couch until every piece is done.

And if you can’t finish it, don’t you ever come back to me and tell me you can’t gain weight. 'Cause I’m gonna tell you that you don’t give a fuck about getting bigger and you don’t care how much you lift!"

Love that story. The Hershey candy bar bit is pretty awesome too. Oh and the Chinese Buffett bit too…man I’d like to see if I could have hung in there with those guys on all that.

I miss that era of lifting/internet so much. Simpler times. GFH and lift.

Haha yes I have read that article several times, the pizza will be good (fully homemade so I can maximize everything to be cal dense) and I will eat all of it, and have another meal before bed.

Dessert pizza is highly underrated. May I suggest Nutella as sauce and topped with broiled bananas, a generous helping of toasted pecans and whipped cream

That sounds amazing (apart from the Nutella, not a fan I could just melt an entire bar of chocolate though!). I’ve eaten a chocolotto pizza from dominos before that was decent, but yours sounds 100x better

Not recommended, that will burn and harden. Maybe try mixing cocoa powder with chocolate syrup into a sauce like consistency

Blakely is on a table talk podcast in which he expands slightly on why those food choices were made and the thinking behind them. Probably worth a listen, if his voice doesn’t send you to sleep

The pizza was a success 12 inch at the biggest point, the tomato base was Bolognese (turkey mince) the topping was curried chicken (whole breast, shredded and mixed with curry spices and a significant amount of olive oil) weird combo of Bolognese and curry, didn’t work great flavour wise, I think it was somewhere around 150g of cheese. The base went near translucent with grease. My prebed meal is going to be scones with jam and cream and a side of protein shake (to make it more “meal” like and less like what it really is - pudding)

Edit - also lagged it in garlic mayo before I ate it, that’s always delightful.

Thanks my knowledge of dessert pizzas is nil, I’ll see if I can just get a non hazelnut chocolate spread.

These aren’t food choices I’m going to make regularly (maybe just weekly for the time being!) but when it’s pizza day might as well capitalise on the calorific opportunity!

What about biscoff spread? Not chocolate, but works well with banana and pecan

Another combo: honey on base, top with goat cheese and carmelized pears (they’re in season!)- higher class!

… or just make a cookie cake :joy:

Oh - that stuff is beautiful.

I read this after promising the kids it would be Pizza Night, and before eating the pizza, and on leg day. So I went ahead and added about an ounce of olive oil to my 2000cal digiorno.
I hope I’m working hard enough to earn it.

I’ve never worked hard enough to justify the pizza he described. I’ve also never been a hard gainer.

In fairness, it was a recipe to get from 275 to 308. We don’t have those problems, haha.

Good grief. That makes more sense. It sounds terribly unhealthy but it’ll do the trick.
