Making your own strongman log would be fucking cool.

Could you put up a video of that OHP sometime?
I just did something embarrassing with my 150lb in an attempt to get it over my head. I was unsuccessful.

Will do, but my bag was only 110lbs, I could try 75kg/165lbs but it might break me!

Also if this:

Then film next time! (Assuming it landed on your head? - I rested the bag on mind one rep where grip got wonky, but managed to not drop it on my noggin).

Thanks I’ll avoid SS - looked up rebel and there’s aren’t cheap, I’m sure they are worth it but my budget is minimal (post Christmas, daughters birthday in January!)

Any thoughts on this one: https://mirafit.co.uk/mirafit-multi-grip-strongman-log.html

Not even that. Just a lame groping and heaving spasm.

I would really go for the 12" size if at all possible. Maybe a used offer or something?
10" will probably not show up in a comp, although @T3hPwnisher told me he used it in comp before. In Germany there’s zero chance at that, even the lighteeight women use 12 or 13".

Ok thanks, well that loops me back to this one: https://celticstrength.co.uk/product/50kg-log/

Which would have been my first choice but postage adds 25% - but probably still the cheapest version of 12(.7!) Inch log, Anything to be aware of on that log?

From strictly eyeballing it, that looks like a great option. The cutouts look good which is my main point of critique with strengthshop.

I competed in an era where it was still pretty “wild west”. We just used whatever the promoters had on hand, and there weren’t a whole lot of manufactures producing the stuff. Although I competed with a BEAUTIFUL Slater log that was 10", so that was cool.

I have used that log and can confirm that it is indeed a big, heavy log.

I knew I had seen it before!

That was the log at my last gym. I’ve cleaned it probably 100+ times and pressed it a good 0 times. As far as a customer review goes, I can confirm that it stayed as a big heavy log for the duration of that time.

Thanks, unfortunately they only accept bank transfer (was going to 0% on PayPal/credit card for a couple of months) so will be a month or two yet, but it’s coming!

NYE - let’s end this sucker like we want 2022 to start - getting stronger and sexier!!!

9pm in the UK just finished off this:

Conditioning:

Some random sandbag over shoulders and overheads, trying to capture the 75kg overhead (video to follow).

Gs1:
Wgpu: 6 X 4 sets
Ohp: 40, 45, 50, 55kg X 6
Ab rolls: 5 X 4 sets
SoS: 50kg X 3 x 4 sets

Gs2
All as above apart from:
Ohp: 42.5kg X 12, 6

Not overly happy with ohp is weak as dishwater…

Went for a cheeky 3 pump 6c Burpee finisher after typing this out, 15 non stop, which isn’t much but my chest is pumped up haha, happy new year all, hoping you all have an amazing NYE and a blessed 2022 - off for some family time again now (this was a brief interlude!)

@jdm135 - check out the fantastic production value in this video… But yea that’s the two bags overhead.

Thanks for that! I was trying from a front rack position, unsuccessfully. Will try from the shoulder next time; not too hopeful considering its 150lb and that’s top end for me under the best of circumstances. Will report back.

Happy new year!

Yea front rack would be nigh on impossible given the bulk of the thing, well for me at least. Also 75kg would be above my current ohp, but there’s a lot of leg drive in that!

Don’t forget to video it  be and happy NY to you and the family!

You too, may this year bring many stress prs!

Week 4 day 3

Conditioning:
6cbwgpus (@T3hPwnisher - thought I’d truncate to make it even less comprehensible) run Juarez valley:
10,1, 9, 2, 8, 3, 7, 4, 6, 5

Done in 9:06 pull ups were strict, lats were pumped but breaking each one up with a Burpee makes them slightly more manageable. Sweating profusely, breathing hard, solid start.

Gs1:
KB swings: 24kg X 3 x 4 sets
Ssb: 60, 80, 100, 120kg X 8
Ab rolls: 5 X 4 sets
DB C&P (strict): 25kg X 3 x 4 sets (cleaned each rep for the extra work)

Gs2:
As above
Ssb: 85kg X 21
As above
As above

Done. Solid session in 50 mins, meant to get it in earlier but got distracted, then it was time for a game with the son, watching WSM finals with the fam and eating (until they all got bored finished dinner and left) - I already knew the result but good to see nonetheless.

Getting to the point where I’ve strung enough sessions together in close succession (… consistency?!) That I’m starting to notice work capacity and strength increase, good things are coming!

Boom a full week of training completed in 6 days, I also hate it less than I did, it’s becoming more routine just something that despite not wanting to I have to, like getting out of bed in the morning.

Conditioning:

Sandy Grace:
Sandbag floor to overhead X 30 (50kg sandbag) - 7:51 definitely room for improvement here but checked the box of conditioning and shoulder work (plus pretty much every other muscle in my body, my legs have doms from squats the other day, they were complaining).

Gs1:
BB row: 60kg X 10 X 4 sets
Axle bench: 48.5, 68.5, 78.5, 88.5kg X 10
Ab rolls: 5 X 4 sets
KB swings: 24kg X 5 X 4

Gs2:
As above but:
Axle bench: 58.5kg X 18, 6

Done. Weight hasn’t moved enough (this session was done after a massive plate of cheesy pasta and chicken, so I’m working on it), for accountability sake I want to hit up at least another 30lbs, in the next 30 weeks, yes I’m aware that even under the best of conditions that will probably end up 50% fat, don’t care, it’s happening. Starting Weight for this year: 197lbs. Will throw up a starting photo at some point soon.

Followed by 8 days of nothing… Apparently coming out of isolation and going back to my jobs and the kids going back to their clubs is bad for my free time and motivation. It’s also got me right back to hating even the thought of training, but not as much as I hated my performance today, good fuel:

Day 1 week 5:

6c burpee s/s 75kg Sandbag over shoulder:
10, 1, 9, 2, 8, 3, 7, 4, 6, 5

Gaint set
KB swings: 24kg X 5 X 6 sets
Deads: 60, 100, 120, 140kg X 3, 160kg X f, 112.5kg X 15
Cable crunch: 40kg X 10 X 5 sets
Bjj: red X 10 X 5 sets

Done quick because done on lunch with meetings imminent. That 160kg was a mega grind, could have probably finished it but got well out position, lats and pecs cramped up. Who’d have guessed being thoroughly inconsistent with training and diet would cause regression in strength…

Weight 199, this at least is moving.
