Not a bad idea.

Strength shop?

Come join us in the quest for the 2 plate press.

Strength shop is knurled and I can’t risk offending the strongman community, so I’m going Mirafit, helps that it’s cheaper.

I’m a fair way off standing 100 ohp - but could probably push press that now, I get a fair bit out of leg drive, I was surprised by my seated no back support ohp 85 the other day but that was true 1rm - so a long way off!

I have no issues offending strongman community, but I like money so I might join you. Never heard of mirafit, but just checked it out and I’m definitely on board.

@T3hPwnisher is there any advantage for a non-strongman competitor for a full 7 foot axle, or is a 5 foot short axle fine?

Is a 5 foot one even rackable? That would be a huge downside if not.

That is a pretty good point, that I hadn’t considered.

It is if you’re a 5 ft midget like me

Do you have narrower racks?

I misinterpreted. I thought “rack” meant putting the bar into a comfortable front rack

I haven’t bought anything from them before (sandbag now) but reviews are all good and the axle is rated up to 320kg so it’s clearly the only one I’ll ever need!

Yea definitely get 7ft, if nothing else its 20kg making plate maths simple!

I own three pieces of mirafit equipment. All simple stuff tbh. but it’s solid kit.

Week 4 day 4 - I made it nearly half way! Deload next week!!!

Conditioning (aka screw you body you will run for 10 minutes!):

GS1:
NG chins: 10, 15, 20, 25, 30
Trap bar z press: 27, 37, 47, 57 X 3, 67kg X 2.5
Cable crunch: 40, 60 X 8, 80 X 8 X 3 sets
Kb swing: 24kg X 8 X 5 sets

GS2
Ng chins: 15kg X 10, 8, 8
Trap bar z press: 52 X 9.5, 8, 8
Cable crunch: 80kg X 8 X 3 sets
kB swing: 24kg X 8 X 3 sets

Emom
Bench: 75kg & blue bands X 3 X 10 sets

Smashed through this tonight as time was limited sweated profusely. Was intending to hit another set after 67kg but failed, mostly due to balance both at sitting position and at wrists, that is one awkward press and something I’ve never done before. The fail on rep 10 of 52 was due to hips cramping up, I cannot maintain the z press position very well (I can’t sit upright with my legs straight in front of me at all, so knees are bent).

Was a good session overall despite a slightly underwhelming press.

Preworkout monster and chocolate, intra 2 bananas & 30g hydrolysed whey blended in water, pwo jelly babies.

Weight this am: 14.9 - 206 after 4 weeks I am exactly where I started! I really hope some small level of recomp took place!

Deload next week - plus sports massage knotted up in all sorts of places!

Perfect that’s exactly what I am looking for!

Weighted in this morning at about 206/14.10

Didn’t track macros yesterday but was a fairly good day.

Today I nailed it 40/40/20 perfect macros…

Might have confused the fats and proteins.

There is a deload in the middle of this thing? Whew!

I thought I remembered it in the video, but I could be wrong, it’s not uncommon!

I think it’s wave 1, deload, wave 2, deload, test week 1, test week 2, for a 12 week program? It’s been a while since I watched the video I might need to check it out… But I’m now one day into my deload too late!

Week 5 day 1

Deload

Sandbag arrived so loaded it up, felt like a massive loser as I struggled to get the sack into the bag, tried picking it up and felt like more of a loser, got it eventually, carried it down steps to patio. Put it on scales - 83.5kg, did nothing to make me feel any stronger, I thought I’d hit about 100kg of loading judging my the capacity of the bag (75-100kg).

Messed around picking it up putting it on 4ft wall, carrying it to 5ft wall putting it on that.

Set timer for 10 mins and did 10m X 4 runs (turn at every 10m) at a time I didn’t count how many of them and didn’t worry about how much rest I took, I’d guess I probably didn’t 6-7 “rounds”. I didn’t put the bag down at the end of each round, I rested it on a wall, next session will involve a lot more lifting it.

That was so humbling, my hamstrings felt like they were going to pop they had so much pressure, it’s weird I can farmers walk a trap bar significantly more weight (think last time I tried it was 170kg) but this felt so much harder on my hamstrings. Biceps also got fried, breathing whilst squeezing 83.5kg as hard as possible against your chest is a challenge. Varied grips over/under both sides, bear hugs, bag on side bag upright.

Then I had to carry it back up the steps, great fun overall. Probably should have started lighter, but it’s loaded now I’m not unloading it!

Then emoms:

Banded sumo deads - 110kg & red band X 3 X 10

Done.

Pwo: chilli chips and cheese!

I think you’ve just sold me on sandbags.

It was definitely an experience, pretty cheap as well, I’m looking forward to developing a bit more and going for reps to shoulder! Wait until the axles come back into stock at Mirafit and get both together!

I thought it was 3 x 3-week waves (then 1-week deload, 2-week test). Not going to burst your bubble, though - enjoy the deload!

Sandbags are a humbling experience for sure. They’re also incredibly versatile: Carries, squats, extensions from the lap, over the shoulder, over a bar, deadlifts, rows… to name a few humbling experiences ahead of you.
