Alex_uk: 40 years in the making

Good tsee you getting back on. 20 min x 4-5 sessions sounds very smart. Way better than 0 too!

It hasn’t been great. Blast was very unsuccessful, fired the coach a little over a month ago and took a couple weeks off gym and eating and just had a reset. Just on TRT now and trying to just go through the motions with no expectations other than to try hard in the gym. If it’s been a minute since you read my log you better set aside 30 minutes if you wanna get caught up :joy:

Thanks Jdm!

As long as I hit a minimum of 4 that’ll cover all the main lifts and some super set accessories (mostly chin ups because who doesn’t need more chin ups!) Hitting a 5th will be a bonus arms and shoulders session!

Never a truer word!

Ah mate that’s a sucky update sorry to hear that, still plenty of time to get back on the gains train, even just getting going through the motions sessions in is a win sometime - I should know I’ve not even managed that!

I’ll catch up on yours sometime soon, hopefully by the time I get there things will be looking up!

Today’s work:

S/s
Wgpu: 5 X 8 sets

Dips: 20, 15
S/s
BB curls: 30kg X 15, 10

21 mins and done.

Today’s work:

Sumo deads: 60kg X 5, 100kg X 3, 120, 140, 160kg X 1, 128.5kg X 5 X 3 sets
S/s
Ng chins: 6 X 8 sets

Felt like pulling sumo again, been a long time, that was so much harder than it had any business being, not sure if have had 180 which was a lift I could hit any day no matter how bad before, but turns out not lifting, losing a load of weight and not practicing a specific variation make you rubbish at something! Ah well it’ll come back.

This is just your body rejecting sumo so it can stay awesome

Haha, to be fair it didn’t feel natural, where as it always used to, I’m not to fussed as long as convention carries on feeling good.

Lifting has gone by the way this week, it’s been insane and will continue to be so, I’m not even going to worry about it - I doubt anything will get done.

In other news thanks to @T3hPwnisher, @kdjohn @dagill2 and @carlbm (and anyone else involved who I’ve forgotten) for the much earlier conversation on kids and self defence. I looked at various different options round my area the local martial arts clubs looked a bit dubious, couldn’t find judo nearby, so instead, tonight they did their first boxing lesson.

My daughter was impressively natural (is very athletic) my son was keen and enthusiastic but is a 9 year old boy who has watched far too many boys cartoons (and didn’t have such a naturally athletic dispostion)…he’ll get there. The class was great, guy running it seems legit, kids had fun and we’ll definitely be going back next week!

Man, that’s outstanding. Boxing is such an excellent foundation for self defense and basic physical ability in general. Hope they take to it!

Great choice. Boxing is athletic, requires proper application of a person and is just plain hard work to get good at. These are good lesson to learn.
It will help them grow as people and help them defend them selves.

Hey @flappinit thanks for the check in, life’s just been manic, slowing down briefly now because I got Covid this week (not a serious case, slightly low O2 sats, sore throat and headache but other than that I wouldn’t know I had it and no one else in my household got it fortunately) so stuck isolating from everyone - but my primary employment is wfh so no stopping there!

Training has been non existent for months now, I still fully intend to compete at a local strongman comp in 2022 so I need to get my act together, otherwise I’ll just be zeroing everything.

I haven’t had time to even look at the forums (used to be my favourite procrastination!) Hope all’s well with you and the family?

And same to everyone here noticed @jdm135 tagged me hope all’s well with you and the family? Same for all the usuals on here @Koestrizer @dagill2 @T3hPwnisher @anna_5588 @anna_5588 @simo74 (and the plenty others I’ve missed) hope you and all of yours are well?

(Also noticed a tag from @jshaving RE faith - not had time to look at the discussion, is that still ongoing or did I miss the boat there?)

Oh man I’m legit happy to hear from you. I wish you a full and speedy recovery from the plague and it’s also very exciting to hear that you’re still set on competing in strongman. Life happens man. No one that’s followed you for a while is questioning your work ethics and I’m sure you’ll be back stronger than ever in due time.
