Man I’m out of commission and gauntlets are being thrown down! I want in. I’ll check if my gym has a concept 2 rower. My old one did, but I never used it.
If you guys keep this up tag me next week, and I’ll give it a go.

I am going to take a much healthier approach to all this: I am so confident that I could do this sub 90 seconds that I am not even going to bother proving it.

Do it! It’s only 90 seconds of your life (or 105 in @dagill2’s case ) what’s the worse that could happen?! I reckon with your power output you’ll do very well on this.

Oh yea! Glad you’re up for it, but sensible to wait that week, don’t want any stitches undone!

Don’t be like that, they’ve got an over 60’s WR, they’ve catered for you.

There is a sex joke somewhere in there but it’s a good point.

All I read was a dig at @dagill2 's presumably “sub- par” cardiovascular fitness

I have no idea what the quotation marks are for. My cardiovascular fitness is indeed subpar.

Well in the context of the joke it would actually be a small compliment for @dagill2 .

I am pretty sure rowing ability and being long limbed go together to a large degree, so it probably isn’t going to ever be my thing. Although holding geriatric world records certainly does sound appealing.

I enjoy watching you get your excuses in early.

Honestly I have never really tried a rower before, I may give it a whirl just for grins. But I am pretty sure I will not be good at it. You never see hobbit sized competitors at the Olympics, for example.

You seem to be irritatingly good at lots of things you have no business doing, so I’ll reserve judgement.

Gee, such effusive praise. No business doing? Lol.

I had to get a dig in somewhere.

You’re better than me at plenty of things, and not all of them involve consuming beans.

Not able to gym it tonight. Had a poor sort of day. Leg day tomorrow. But I’m gonna try the 500m sprint on Thursday/

Pretty sure we have a couple of rowing machines at the gym. Stupid question but are these things easy to use, as in can you just press ON abs row?? Or does it ask you 100 health questions first!!

Crazy easy to use, just pull the handle and row as hard s you possibly can! Might want to pull it gently, get the screen on and then check the display is in a format like mine so you can see time and distance - there’s only 3 buttons, just press display until you get where you want pretty much foolproof.

And what are you guys doing, just going flat out for distance or time? Either sounds horrible.

Fastest 500m possible, I reckon you should be sub 120 secs even if you’ve never tried it before, given your power. I hit it sub 90, world record for 30-39 is 70.5 secs, and 73.9 for the 40-49 group (men’s).
