Had a short window of opportunity, took it to get in my OHP based session, out of sync but wouldn’t have got my squat based session in. Skipped cardio due to time.

Similar problems - carbs and fat instead of beer and salt, (although plenty of salt too).
Conditioning:
5 X 6c Burpees
5 X kB floor to ohp (probably close to a snatch but not willing to commit to that term haha) - left arm: 16kg X 5
5 X 6c Burpees
5 X kB floor to ohp: right arm: 16kg X 5
5 rounds in 10 mins, potentially could have done a little more work but have a very dry irritating cough that caused my chest to burn badly during this. @T3hPwnisher inspired chaos conditioning - didn’t have a clue what I was going to do pretty much up until the timer started.
Gs1:
Squat jumps: 5 X 4 sets (did 2 sets of kB swings first but back wasn’t into it)

Standing Cable crunch: 60kg X 8 X 6 sets

Deads 60kg + red bands: 3 X 10 sets
Didn’t want to push the weight and aggravate my back plus I was short on time so reduced weight and rest.
@dagill2@Koestrizer - thought I’d throw the first gauntlet down - annoyingly it was sub 1.5 mins but the time keeps going. Good news I beat the world record for under twelves, just need to lose a few years or gain another 25 and I’m a world record holder. Seriously though that’s painfully hard work I know I can shave a few seconds off (got 300m then dropped off a cliff power and CV wise, was nigh on a coast to the end) but 1:10.5 those guys are insane.
Still coughing and this really didn’t help, probably wasn’t smart, but I’ve not often been accused of doing smart things. Will use this again at some point, see if I can chip away at it - if I can build endurance past the 45/60 second mark I can do some damage to that time (and my lungs by the feel of it).
Weirdly enough the reason I did this - because I want a shower, thought I might as well need a shower instead.
Haha throw them in whenever I certainly made a few during that post, it’s the attempt that matters, moreso than the time, and the subsequent reattempts, unless you beat me straight off then it matters a whole lot more!
Just thought @carlbm is into rowing and likes an absurd challenge - 500m on the concept 2 in sub 90 secs Carl - go for it!
Okay - Challenge accepted. I will discuss with the wife about making a one off special trip to the gym for this. Maybe tomorrow. Its not the sort of thing I can imagine doing on top of a work out.
FYI - my current best 100m time is 17 seconds. This does include the start where you are a bit slower. So from 20m to 120m is about 15 seconds. BUT - its keeping this pace. Sure for the first 45 seconds its easy. The next 30 are HARD. The last 15 will be pain.
I also recently did a 300m sprint on the ski erg. 56 seconds. This is a 93s / 500m. But this was more my lats giving out that my heart and lungs.
All in all I’m quietly scared. And will be happy with sub 100 seconds. But hoping for sub 95. Dreaming of 89.9.
You: Honey, I’d like to go to the gym because some dudes on the internet want me to row. It will take around 90 seconds if I’m good; however, I might be relatively useless for the next couple of hours and will certainly need a long shower to recover. Can you give me a ride?
Yup it’s disgusting, 300m sprints are about my threshold, then it’s pure agony.
Haha honestly the way I felt too before doing it, interestingly enough I think I was scared because I know I’m capable but I knew how much it would take mentally to get past that threshold.
You’ve got this Carl!
So true - but I’ve been trying to be good recently.
That sounds like progress in my books and hopefully progress on the barbells - keep it up!
Yup - honestly I’d recommend filming it with the screen in full view of possible, because a) you’ll be able to see what time you actually hit 500m not when the clock stops counting and b) the screen goes blank after about a minute I think and c) I want to see how horrific it is!
I’ve been bribing myself to make the walk to the gym with a slice of bread, been trying various ways to make potatoes (hence the bubble and squeak) and made soda bread even though it was an off day
Haven’t noticed any changes to performance though…
It’s probably more carbs than I need but it fits my calories and I’m still getting in protein, so what ever
